Kikokugai if you want cyberpunk with chinese mafia, kung-fu and suffering. Also the remake is pretty good - it removes the sex scenes (technically it still has them except there are no nipples and mosaic genitalia), but you get some great VAs like Keiji Fujiwara and Yukarin.

Baldr Sky just got licensed so if you cross your fingers, maybe it'll come out in a reasonable period of time.

Others that I have played:
Dedenden - another Valken clone.

Yumina the Ethereal (This isn't a mistake, if you're just looking at a VNDB summary) - dungeon crawler, kinda grindy but the battle system is interesting.

Hyakki Yakou (百機夜行) - Gameplay is rather clunky RTS but setting/artstyle is pretty cool and it still manages to be fun.

Sunrider - Probably shouldn't add this because it's Western, but the turn-based strategy gameplay is pretty good - too bad the plot is complete bonkers though

Not really a lot of choices in the genre, I think, but I haven't kept up with eroge in a long time

The first two series are easily the crown of mecha game imo

PSX also got some neat mecha games that had interesting concepts like Patlabor and Gunbike.

I guess they first decided to remake it and then chose the VAs. She still moans in some of the scenes, including the one where two of the androids, voiced by her are making out, but nothing more. Still her dialogue gets really lewd near the end, something I never expected to hear.

So how's Gundam Assault Survive? I know it's the same dev like Macross PSP games so I can expect a lot of characters, custom character self insertion and lots of units but how are the missions?

I heard a lot of anons from here complaining how UC section of the game is lacking in comparison to an older title, Gundam Battle Universe IIRC. Something about UC missions all being in tight bland grey quarters while SEED and 00 missions were all nicely constructed and in huge sprawling open areas. Not too sure how true this is.

I'm now reading some of it on the wikia and holy shit they added the brainwashed/cyber Katejina from the novel. That's fucking amazing.

The 2P mode was fun, but I thought the single player stuff was just really messy and unwieldy.
>>
>>14522591
to some degree they are kinda right, 00 and Seed missions feel a lot bigger than UC but I wouldn't say that UC is lacking too much, it's just a bit repetitive since a lot of the maps are the same.

but the main problem with assault survive is the fact that you really need to grind like shit to actually be able to buy end game MS. things like Freedom and Justice cost like 2-3 million while in Battle Universe you just unlocked things by getting S ranks on missions.

>>14510489
>>14510487
>90% of all robots : You can't pilot them : the game

I still hate them for that.
>>
>>14522772
well I should also tell you that unlocking units is a much bigger pain in the ass than Battle Universe, a lot of it is use X MS with Y pilot 10 times and it really adds to the grind. it doesn't help that parts are also absurdly high with the best parts costing 1-2 million.

they also removed some things from Battle Universe like some UC missions and MS/pilots. the gameplay feels a lot slower in Assault Survive, boosting doesn't move you as much compared to Battle Universe and enemy aces/ships are way tankier. the special gauge also regenerates really fucking slowly in assault survive.

basically I don't like Assault Survive because they made it grindy as fuck and the slower gameplay is something that I don't like. enemy bosses used to only take a few hits to kill but they were hard to hit while in Assault Survive they need like 50 shots just to down them, seed units are very guilty of this with their stupid phase-shift armor.

if you really want all the new content that was in Assault Survive go for it but I think Battle Universe had the superior gameplay.

Well that indeed sounds horrible. The bullet sponges and reduced boost speed especially. Just when I found an ENG patch for it, oh well.

Can I paint my units in Battle Universe like in Macross? I want a white Geara Doga.
>>
>>14522830
unfortunately there is no painting at all in both games.

Assault Survive is still an okay game like I'd give it a 5/10, if you like slow paced games you may enjoy it more than I did.
>>
>>14522836
Nah I'll go with Battle Universe. I despise SEED anyway.
>>
>>14522840
I'll tell you some advice regarding custom pilots in Battle Universe, always make them a newtype because they have better stat growth than oldtypes and the only disadvantage is that they can't pilot non-newtype MS like the blue destiny units. you should try and use your custom pilots as much as possible as they will level up their stats with each successful missions unlike character pilots which do not level up.

also when you select an era you cannot choose the other side unless you start a new game, e.g. if you pick EFSF 0079 you need to make a new game to play Zeon 0079.

one final thing is that tuning points are only gained for the suit you are currently using, I recommend upgrading the weapon's power (1st option), accuracy (2nd option), speed (4th option) and reload speed (5th option). afterwards you should focus on tuning MS stats with mobility and thrusters prioritized first.

have fun anon

Yep, this was the plan. I was doing the same thing in Macross. Not only the pilot but I also mostly just used the grunt unit they give you when you start. Love being a random nobody with a custom/upgraded ace painted mass produced suit.

>one final thing is that tuning points are only gained for the suit you are currently using, I recommend upgrading the weapon's power (1st option), accuracy (2nd option), speed (4th option) and reload speed (5th option). afterwards you should focus on tuning MS stats with mobility and thrusters prioritized first.

>UC section of the game is lacking in comparison to an older title, Gundam Battle Universe IIRC
Some pilots got cut, mostly non-anime characters from other UC games, and a few supporting characters like South Burning and Elle Vianno.
Also the Titans missions got cut, 0087 is AEUG/ZEON only.

The only units that were cut were the Surreal GM and Saku (pic). Also atmospheric effects like fog, rain, and sandstorms got cut.

But it added all 00s1 mobile suits and most SEED mobile suits, though only the important pilots (Yzak, the meisters, the Trinities, Kira (x3), Athrun, etc) but not side characters like Daryl, Andrew Waldfeld, etc..

The big difference is GBU making you pick a side when you start each era and only being able to capture enemy suits while unlocking your side's suits by ranking missions, and GAS lets you have all the missions on both sides but you have to develop and buy all the ms
>>14522696
>end game MS. things like Freedom and Justice cost like 2-3 million
That's nothing. The BH Engine and N-Jammer Canceller optional parts are 52,000,000 each.
>>
>>14526092
Andrew is in the game but you are right about them leaving out a lot of side characters. hell I don't think Nicol is in the game

and yeah I forgot about those parts which costs a fuckton, I pretty much never tuned my MS because all of my money was going to the shop.

Bulk Slash on the Saturn. You can freely change from a mech to a fighter ship and back.
If you've ever played Ranger-X on the Genesis, it's pretty similar to that, but in 3D. Feels like a spiritual sequel. Great soundtrack, decently stable looking 3D on the Saturn, it's just fun.
