That's an impressive diaroma. I'm sure it was easy for them to commission it given they could essentially write a blank cheque to any builders they wanted, but it's still nice work by whoever did it. I didn't even know it was airing this soon and can't say as I'm overly enthused about it regardless though.

Nothing. Even if they'd mass produced a thousand of them at the prototypes specification (instead of simplifying it for production, which would probably have happened) it wasn't a war winning weapon. It was big, slow, overheated quickly, was weak to physical weapons and required three pilots instead of a mobile suit's one. They're an physically imposing machine, but once you get over that impression they're fairly vulnerable to attack and just couldn't win the war for Zeon because of all their issues. To be of any real use as a war winning platform the engineers would have needed more time, money and resources at the design stage to work out some of it's issues and put the whole in a smaller, or at least more efficient package that wouldn't cost as much to make or be as vulnerable on a battlefield.

I do appreciate the idea that Jerid was the foil to Kamille. Both start off as obsessed brats that basically have a dick-measuring contest in how many friends/girl-friends they can kill. But by the end, Jerid is still trying to kill his rival Kamille, while Kamille himself has moved and is busy fighting the bigger bads of Haman and Scirocco. Kamille matured and looked at a bigger picture than just a rivalry and revenge.

Denim overalls - super easy, then just fuck its shit up to look lcosplay and add a little beam badge
leather (???) wrap thing - not a clue, they don't look hard to find
purple wrap thing - again, not a clue but it could probably be made from cloth because it's under the leather for the most part
fatass socks - elastic and some sewing skills, easy, maybe find something to use as a base since ironic 70s and 80s fashions are a meme now
shoes - any cheap shoe store with retarded tacky colors

all together - several hours of labor, a couple pieces of clothing, and finding a little Dom monoeye accessory and you have an easy, stylish Domfu cosplay that will probably break the bank

Even ignoring Gundam's themes about war and whatnot... if you feel invested in what's going on, if you feel at least a little shitty when something bad is happening or a sense of victory when something is achieved, and if the work is well-executed, then it is good art. Miyazaki's work isn't going to hugely change the world as far as environmental understanding goes just as Tomino's work isn't gonna prevent war from happening. Art has other purposes beyond making worldly change that the creator sociopolitically agrees with.
