Mecatronics freshman here. They asigned us to build a mech from picrelated for a sumo type robot fight. Any ideas for names? Dubs get preference and trips win. Also any tips for design, I'll try to incorporate as much from what you want anons.

Is there a more heartbreaking album than Third/Sister Lovers? "Holocaust", "Dream Lover", "Take Care", "Femme Fatale", "O, Dana", "Kangaroo", etc. So many devastating pieces. Also, post other heartbreaking albums.

What actually prompts the creation and development of Mobile Suits in the AC timeline? There's no record I can find of a war between two in-universe factions before the events of the Wing TV series. Near as I can tell, the Alliance rises to power unopposed and immediately adopts the standpoint of subjugation for anyone who doesn't roll over for them. The development of MS technology seems to be entirely down to the Alliance wanting an ostentatious way to keep the populace under its thumb, but if that's the case then why do Leos have beam sabers? At this point, all I can assume is that the single record I can find of a handful of Leos getting stolen and used in suit-based combat was enough to make the Alliance go "Holy shit, better give this thing some swords so it can fight itself."

In addition to that, what's the point of developing better suits if nobody else has something for you to fight against? The Taurus is apparently in development at the start of the show, but as far as the Alliance knows, nobody else is developing suits. Sure, the Leo is a twenty year old design at the start of the show, but they're still in service and active production, and if all you're doing is stepping on civvies and laughing about it then what's the difference? Is it just a case of paranoia that turns out to be right?

Chris Faber, one of the main minds behind the conceptualization of Bionicle, shared some stuff about his work on Hero Factory.

>Hero Factory was only meant as a location springboard into this vast story universe and the story was meant to get much more personal when the real truth about the factory was discovered. The idea of a factory that builds cocky heros made to specifications was actually a provocation to the whole legendary hero story we had told in Bionicle. The real hero would be found somewhere else.

So this theme and setting, criticized by many for being dumbed-down kiddie garbage with no substance, had genuine thought and effort put into it, we just barely saw any of it. People on /m/ have said that Bionicle's concept was held back by being a toy-line. The failure of G2 proved that Lego has no idea how to handle the brand.

Did Faber have it worse with Hero Factory? Bionicle at least hat the chance to carry through on its story and reveal its secrets as it went.
