Is Plato the biggest hack?
I'm an intellectual and well-versed in the history of Western Thought and Idea, and it feels like Whitehead's observation "all of western philosophy is a footnote to Plato" would be more accurately formulated as "all of western philosophy is a continuous BTFOing of Plato."
Plato is like the pseud who comes on /lit/ to samefag his own arguments and false flag his "opponents." By fortuitous happenstance Plato's writings survived in greater volume and quantity than other more insightful and coherent thinkers.
Now, Plato is essentially something for people who aren't intellectuals to read on the subway, and even Black folk have started to realize this. When are we going to collectively stop focusing our philosophical efforts on BTFOing the non-entity that is Plato and instead start spending our time and effort on more worthwhile endeavours?
Pic related.

it is very obvious that socrates was the real thinker and plato is our best source for his ideas
no one takes any of plato's actual philosophy seriously but his socratic dialogues are undoubtedly important
also you're a pseud
>I'm an intellectual
Yeah, right. You'd be the first one here.
>Calling yourself an intellectual on /lit/
>Saying Plato is shit because you traced some arguments and they didn't add up
9/10, all you need now is to recommend Stirner and you've got yourself some top b8

They pay you (so they own it, and have the rights to your stories), if one is a hit, they sell it to the Hollywood writers guild for a couple hundred thousand dollars, you, the person who wrote the story, gets like a buck fifty.
Also it's October. I was promised blood mirror.
Where is arc anon?

Hello, the rest of /lit/ seems to be about philosophy and history, so I figure this is the thread to ask, instead of starting a new thread.
I've been recently replaying XCOM and I wanted to know what genre of sci-fi should I search for, to find books with similar themes: alien invasion, humanity fighting back, preferably not space fights but ground fighting/guerrila warfare. HFY not necessary but appreciated.
Also looking for recs on books like that. Whatever are the classics and what's good from newer authors.
Thank you.

>They pay you (so they own it, and have the rights to your stories)
From The Bard Quarterly #000:
>All rights for work contained within reside with the author attributed with the creation of the work.
I'm no lawyer so maybe that doesn't hold water but it sure looks like it's meant to carry liquids.
Also no, I'm not related to the Bard or /tg/. I'm considering whipping something together to have rejected, though. Sounds like fun.
How is Billy Budd gay? Is having friends gay? I think people who say that Billy Budd is gay are trying to hide something themselves desu

why/how is it that whenever mentally ill people write something, it's so unsettling?
I read this and I feel like i'm going crazy.
>>8588989
Depending on the mental illness, the individual might not process social information like a normal person.
Distorted views of logic and reality can be unsettling because the message conveys a way of thinking that is not that of a healthy human being.

Also, that is one dank kettle.

How do I write a book that appeals to white women?
make it as liberal as possible
I'm in a creative writing non-fiction class in SoCal.
80% of the class are white females, and whenever we free write for 10 minutes on a prompt, each girl decides to rant about how America is a cesspool of Islamophobic, Racist, Sexist assholes.
I can't stand it anymore.
We're leading a memoir called Citizen about fucking Trayvon Martin.
I'm so over this shit.
Women are natural narcissists so make sure the book is about absolutely nothing other than them and their boring mundane self-obsessed lives.
Write about "women's bodies", but don't sexualize them. They're endlessly fascinated by their own bodies because society has conspired to intellectually ruin them from childhood. They seem to really have a thing for realism, "the texture of lived experience", shit like that. So read your Tolstoy if you want to write for white women. Also check out Anaïs Nin to understand how to deliver filth to them - you need to cloak it in this kind of swooning, philosophizing romance. That's all I got for now, kid. Good luck tapping the largest market segment out there.
Oh, and consider a feminine pseudonym.

Why is the dude from pineapple express trying so hard to look intellectual
>>8586932
cuz he's the dude from pineapple express and will always be identified with stoner-movies, and he's smart enough to know that, but not clever/subtle enough to change the perception.
Where do I start with economics /lit/? any good starter books? I wanna read Das Kapital but I feel I need a knowledge of economics first
