Hello everyone,

I have to read Harry Potter and the philosopher´s stone for class, I was wondering if I can skip this book.

Are there any major differences between the book and the movie?

Does anybody have any good books for my fourteen-year old son to read? He used to be a huge reader and just dropped it a couple years ago. I want to get him to start reading again, but every book I get him he says he absolutely hates.

The title depicts a man on safari standing under an arch of large ivory elephant tusks so it is probably not Greek.

Nice thighs though.

Why and how does language evolve over time?
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>8769304
Because the lower rung of society will always and constantly create slang and/or twist words. Along with the fact that higher rung wordsmiths craft excellent vocabulary. The two intertwine and thus we get evolving languages. Watch "getting" become an old word for "gettin"

Ulysses switches writing styles in almost every chapter, sometimes even within chapters. A Portrait of the Artist as a young man gradually changes the style as the novel progresses.

Ancient Greece was a slave society, so free men didn't have to work and could spend their time doing what they wanted to do. The modern equivalent is a NEET, and in the future when communism is achieved our society will make similar achievements due to not having to work so much.
