Everyone should read books and write alongside them a fully fledged summary with relevant citations, ideas, interpretations, criticisms etc and integrate them into a new/existing Wikipedia article so they never have to read the book again and neither do future generations.

Try to prove me wrong. Just try.

Anons, why does /lit/ never discuss this author? And expanding this subject, why these most "realistic" authors, that are famous worldwide and part of the western canon, are so disregarded here?
And on a similar note, the fact that this board loves modernist and avant-garde authors like Joyce, Borges, Pynchon and Wallace and on the same side hates post-modern philosophy and sociology is so confusing to me.

Are greentext stories the logical conclusion of Hemingway's philosophy of writing?

That's just /pol/ refugees most of /lit/ don't have a problem with post modernism
>>
"It" does discuss him. Fairly often.

Oh well that sounds experimental and interesting, wonder why he chose to eschew conventio-

NABRE, REV, or Douay Rheims
>>
What are you trying to get out of reading the Bible and what is your reading level.
If all you care about is prose and literary influence read KJV. Otherwise, the NABRE is a really great study bible that provides annotations on locations, people, historical context that without makes the Bible confusing.

Everyone's going to bring their bias to a work like this. I haven't read them, but people always recommend Ulysses S. Grant's memoirs.

I read this, was very good.

Like all wars, the war is a giant mess of a few dozen different reasons as to why the war was fought.
>>
>>9526031
>no, the war happened because of THIS reason

that sort of shit, and the general habit of using superlatives like, "he/it was the most influential person/thing in bringing about x" is why most history sucks, especially new history where they're so specialized they feel the need to defend their choice of study area. biographies are nearly universally guilty of this too.

recommend me books in which the protagonist is part of some big revolution. It can be sci-fi, historically accurate, doesnt matter. The last one I read that I liked was Dune, for example.

read 1984, really liked it. Have something with a similar premise written more recently?

Tell me this and tell me no more:

Is it The Sun Also RISES, as in the sun sets but it rises as well,

or is it The SUN ALSO Rises, as in a great many things rise like helium balloons, erections and dark knights, and the sun does too?

In French, the title is translated as "Le Soleil se lève aussi" (and not "Le Soleil aussi se lève"), so we only get the first meaning.

its definitely the first one. weird im just re-reading this right now and about to finish. have to say i really like it. only other hemingway ive read is the one with the fish and farewell to arms. what else should i read? anyone have any experience with his non-fiction stuff?
>>
>>9525697

In my opinion his non-fiction work is some of his most valuable work. Some of what he reports on really has been left by the wayside of the historical record, particularly that from the inter-war period. I believe it's collected under the title 'By-lines"
