I'm a brainlet wanting to get into reading.
What is some /lit/ approved literature for someone like myself?
And also, I was wondering if there is a way to get a better attention span when actually reading. I always seem to dose off, and when I do actually read I can never remember what I just read.

start with classics, as well as bible, maybe some greek works.
everything else you read will work off of these works.

I don't know it's been so long since I've last read anything.
Lets just say horror, and sci-fi.

What happened to /lit/ in the past few weeks? I've been noticing a weird rise in Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, shit and idiotic, reddit-tier bullshit.

Let's get some literature back in here. Make lit great again!

Joyce is entry level, nobody is impressed

Stream of consciousness was the pinnacle of literary technique. It is the ultimate literary style that ultimately shitted up the market with imitations of the real thing (very few authors do it well).

Post your favorite SoC writers, books and say why you love it or hate it.

>pinnacle of literary technique

Its quite literally the shallowest most contrived form of writing imaginable, all it produces is garbage like Burroughs.
>>
>>9536850
It did produce garbage, but it also produced Finnegan's Wake.
And yes, these two things are mutually exclusive.
>>
>>9536850
>this much of a fucking pleb
The problem with SoC is that you have to be genuinely intelligent and well learned to pull it off. You also have to be a bit intelligent to appreciate it as well, which is why we have retards like this guy not understanding it and lashing out at those who do.

That said, it's a tossup between Joyce with Ulysess and Faulkner with TSATF for which one I think is the best.

I just wanna say I love you litbros.

I have a relatively healthy social life (I'll go out socially 2-3 days a week, but other than that I'm nose to a book), and a recent gf (first one since fucking high school), but most of you here, despite 80% of it being humor, have, as a partial motivator, contributed to me growing in the past two years.

Thanks bros.

Was Alt Lit the last avant garde? Was its ouroboros demise just a reflection of our cultural inability to sustain an avant garde?

If it wasn't, what was/is? Where is it?

Keep this shit to >>>/pol/ please

I think the issue with Alt Lit had more to do with the movement's inherent instability than the instability of the current culture. Alt Lit identified the apathy and childishness of the current times, but only documented it, providing no means of transcending it.

Is Aristotle worth reading?

Which of his books do I read after finishing the essential 5-8 Plato dialogues?
