Why do white authors write better black characters than black authors?
That isn't true at all. The writation of characterising the commonality of traits among the African descended community is most promptly failed by the Other, the white, who, through the lenses of imperialistic conquest, views the African descended individual with racially motivated contempt, just as the African descended individual looks down upon the white Other.

How is the fighting agaisnt crippling nihilism going, /lit/?

I've never suffered from it.
I'm reading Heidegger so it's going good.
What are some books about having no direction in life
my diary desu
- any of the books that colin wilson discusses in "the outsider", which ought to be a /lit/ meme because it's literary criticism written at an enjoyable entry level
- all of houellebecq's books
- most great literature after the death of god, really

You have no goal in life? You have no purpose pushing you everyday? No will to try something new, no esoteric fulfillment, nothing? You just sit and stare at text all day and have no thoughts? When you feel as though you have no direction, nothing comes to mind that you rather in fact just feel ambitionless towards?
Nobody is a husk, everyone has an end goal, even just a daily one.

>anti-feminism thread (OP has never read a single text of feminist theory)
>Sam Harris thread
>anti-Foucault thread (OP hasn't read Foucault)
>anti-Baudrillard thread (OP hasn't read Baudrillard)
>one or more blatantly sexist, racist or anti-semetic thread(s) (e.g. "Name one good book by a black author. protip: you cant")
This kind of stuff has cropped up occasionally in the past but the quality of this board has taken a nosedive recently. It's not the fact that these people have political views that differ from mine. It's that they're not here to discuss literature and apparently read rarely if at all. We can't even have a decent thread about a woman fiction writer without a flood of /pol/ crossposters shitting it up. This board has honestly become insufferable. It's right there in the sticky-
>/lit/ is for the discussion of literature, specifically books (fiction & non-fiction), short stories, poetry, creative writing, etc. If you want to discuss history, religion, or the humanities, go to /his/. If you want to discuss politics, go to /pol/. Philosophical discussion can go on either /lit/ or /his/, but ideally those discussions of philosophy that take place on /lit/ should be based around specific philosophical works to which posters can refer.
Therefore, if you're going to make another anti-Foucault thread, for example, you should be prepared to discuss at least one of his books. Mods need to do a much better job keeping things literature related. This is a meta thread so it's /lit/ related pls don't delet.
That's all well and good but have you considered the possibility of working with the new version of the internet

Write a story about a suicidel homeless man that throws himself onto the subway tracks in the middle of the night only to find the mummified remains of a young boy clutching a wiffle ball. His life is forever changed.
What are your thoughts on the Artemis Fowl series? For some reason I never finished it after reading The Lost Colony back in 2006, so I've started rereading the whole thing. It's pretty fun. Simple, but nice quick reads. And Holly is my waifu.
Go back.

Yeah, it's pretty garbage. It was pretty comfortable back in the day, but even then I questioned some of the things that Artemis was able to do.
I started reading the first novel in middle school and dropped it, I remember thinking it was shabby.

i think one of the best things on the internet is the fact that so many comedians have podcasts. some of my favorites are:
- bill burr monday morning podcast (consistently good. one of the funniest guys ever)
- joe rogan (great when he has other comedians on, or interesting guests. some of them are too rogan-y though. like really? i wanna listen to 3 hours of a guy that wrote a book on coyote diets?)
- doug stanhope podcast (lacks a very solid form, and his usual cohosts are odd and tough to get used to, but they're great once you're accustomed)
-joey diaz church of what's happening now (joey diaz is always hilarious, but his range of topics always seems kind of limited to drugs, kungfu, and music. also Lee Syatt sounds like a timid retarded boy. also his guest game is weak.)
some okay ones that I've listened to some episodes of are Ari Shaffir's, Bert Kreisher's, the fat guy that's not Bert Kreisher.
The thing is, all these podcasting comedians are all sometimes clumped in a little club of Rogan and Diaz and Kreisher and so on, and that can get a little weird.
I'd listen to WTF with Marc Maron if it wasn't on that weird platform of his. I used to listen to the Rooster Teeth podcast a few years back but got sick of it... idk if it's still as good as I remember it being but I doubt it.
If you listen to any other podcast youre a piece of shit

Is there anything to engage the interest of the general reader rather than someone interested in macho stuff?
the judge is pretty cool guy.
Yes it's a love story to the western canon. Try to read more American classics and then come back.
Particularly Melville
>>9534191
Well, you can see the hardships of Frontier Life, and how the Judge judges the Kid by raping and possibly killing him because, at his eyes, the kid was to mercifulin an unmerciful society
Also, what the hell is wrong with male centred nonsense?
>eliminate the male sex
What the fuck? How would women even reproduce without men?
they'd just shove pig seed up their cunts or something
biology is required to answer your question
so feminists won't give you an answer, rather they will claim this is an ironic masterpiece and you are dumb for misinterpreting it
