What the fuck is even the point of owning an AK anymore?
Any non trash-tier AK is going to cost upwards of $700, and for that price you may as well just build yourself a really nice AR.
It costs the same as an AR, the ammo costs the same as an AR's, it performs marginally the same as an AR. AR's, AR ammo, and AR magazines are also loads more common than their AK counterparts. You may as well just get an AR.
All the appeal's been taken away; it used to be a cheap everyman's gun that was fucking everywhere, and now it is not so.
There's just no point to it anymore.

>lives in a sketchy neighborhood, just at the border of gentrification
>walk out and see his neighbor has a pitbull
>not bothering anyone so i dont give it any attention
>friend isnt home so wait on porch for a few
>friend gets back and needs help unloading firewood
>pitbull starts barking really loud and aggressive

The dog was probably within 10 feet when my friend shot the dog and the family is pressing charges and I was a witness and have to speak on his behalf. We're in Texas but has anyone else ever had to deal with a situation like that?
My neighborhood is sketch too and theres a lot of homeless moving with their dogs and fuck me if I get rabies

I have one and can sell it in less than a day because I've put up ads on armslist and everyone bites. Trigger is nice and smooth too. I've never had any issues with mine OP, they are great range toys.

OP you have no idea how much I love the M1903. I cant fucking get enough of them. My first rifle was a Rock Island made around 40,000 before the proper heat treatment was done to recivers. Thats really about the only thing you have to watch out for with M1903s. If its a Springfield under like 800,000 something and a Rock Island under 280,000. But I look at it like this, if a low number 1903 is still around its a pretty good bet that its fine to shoot. If its sporterized thats an even better indicator. While I wouldnt go shooting 220g Nosler Elk loads out of a low number 1903. M2 Ball should be just fine.

The Surefire XC1 fits flush with the 229 if that matters to you. Although apparently the fit is super tight. If you are never going to put a light on it then I would go M11 all day.
