Has anyone here done a Galil build? What receiver did you use? Is it too complicated for a half-retarded beginner like me? Should I just send it to my local gunsmith?
>>30368096
Holy shit, I just hit up my gunsmith and he said they can put together parts kits for $30. Is that a good deal?
Pls
>>30368123
You're sure they mean Galil/AK parts kits and not AR kits?
Unless they're working at light speed, for $30 they're paying themselves like 6 dollars an hour.
I will be traveling from Chicago to Colorado this July, and I want to bring my rifle with me.
We plan on doing some shooting at the ranch there.
We will be driving.
I have a FIOD
Can I just bring it with me? What are the rules on transporting a firearm across state lines?
Drive with it hanging out the window in plain sight, remember to yell random shit and fire a few rounds off at each state line.... good luck jackass. ..
>>30368001
Freedom of movement laws brah. Federally, any firearm you legally own you can transport across state lines as long as you're only transporting them, and no state or local governments can do shit about it. Pretty sure you need to keep them locked in a case, with any ammo stored separately.
Depending on which states you have to through though, there may be a different definition of ”movement”. IIRC some states don't care if you stop to do whatever on your way through, while others will hassle you if you stop for anything other than gas or a bathroom break. Check the laws in any states you'll be going through.
>>30368281
This is correct
Best bet it unloaded mags/ammo locked separately, then your guns (with locks inserted) inside of locked cases, and not in your passenger cabin
God speed
Hey /k/ommandos I need help identifying a Mauser I know it's from WWII from the markings on it but I not the standard kar98k version will dump more pictures if needed.

first gun/gun shop stories go>picking my first gun up soon
>wanted it to be special, being my first gun and all
>settled on a model 10 smith and wesson
>the history, the simplicity, heirloom status
>could have gone .357 but theres just something about an oldschool plain .38 revolver I wanted as my first
>LGS doesnt have any, say they can order them for me though
>over 700 dollars online
>only other revolvers they have are tuarus .357s and Hilary hole smiths .357s
how retarded am Ii for still wanting that model 10? Im a MA resident if that matters
>>30367946
Somewhat retarded
But you can disable Hillary Holes yo
>>30367946
I love my model 10-8. Fun to shoot and I bring it most trips. Most of its charm was the $300 price tag though. Are you ordering a new production model 10? Get a police trade in beater for cheap m8.

can I buy a model 10 online and have it shipped to MA? The smith and wesson website has it for 700 but are there any other better websites
Hello /k/,
I have decided to finally pursue my dream of working in the firearms industry by becoming a gunsmith and was hoping that some anons would have some advice.
Where can/should I study? What should I pursue? A 2 year degree or 6 month certification? Are online courses worth anything? Any and all advice is appreciated
>where
If eastern us, Pennsylvania Gunsmith School, outside Pittsburgh. If western, Colorado School of Trades. They're pretty much considered the best.
>degree/cert
PGS is 16 months, CST is 14
>online
nope lel, AGI has a couple good vids on certain weapons, but besides that they're all trash
Protip-practice polishing metal and woodworking/stockwork now, it'll make those sections a lot easier
>PGS grad, talked at length with CST grads, they're about the same
>>30367449
Between PGS and CST which do you reccomend?
And I've had experience polishing metals for a college materials lab, though it may be a bit different method
>>30367449
also start tearing guns all the way apart and truly figuring out what does what, down to

Can we get a Obsolete/Hard to find Cartridges thread going /k/
Places to source and order them, love for old calibres, etc.

I shot my Dutch Mannlicher with my parents the other day. Original WWII ammo. The RO thought it was cool and said he collects ammo so I gave him a loaded shell
Any of you /k/ommandos ever worked security at a hotel?
>>30366854
Why you ask?
>>30366856
Might be getting a job as overnight hotel security
>>30366854
No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Anyone doing these?
Might do the Apocalypse Now challenge.

There are no structure's near me to do this with but I may make it work with an abandoned camera trailer about 5 miles from my land. Will that suffice?
Can anyone tell me more about this sword?

Never seen a sabre-type grip paired with a straight blade before.

Hello /k/, I just passed a hunting test in my country, which allows me to legally buy semi-auto shotguns and most rifles from the net. What should I get /k/?

Hello /k/, casual here.
Yesterday I saw a news report on how evil AR 15s are and now Im sold.
Ive done some research and since I dont care for building one out of parts, unless you guys can give me compelling reasons to do so, Ive narrowed it down to two choices: The Ruger AR556 and the M&P15 Sport II
Which should I get, and why?
Side note:
Anyone have experience with bayonet lug extensions? I found these:
http://www.triple-r-products.com/
A bayonet is a must have for me, for personal reasons, but I want it to fit right. Will this do the trick? Also, bayonet suggestions? Currently looking at the SW2B and Ontario knives, but would appreciate informed opinions.

I like the Ruger. It's been solid for the couple months I've been taking it shooting
>>30366706
>I dont care for building one out of parts, unless you guys can give me compelling reasons to do so
it's usually either for cheapery or heavy customization. If you're just starting out and aren't a poorfag then there isn't a great reason to build one
>>30366720
Do you have experience with both, or just the Ruger?
What guns should I buy if I want to invest in something that will go up in value? M1 Garands are the obvious answer, but I want more options.
If you live in the US M44 Nagants are going up in price and so is the surplus ammo
Depending on how it looks as far as who'll win the presidency closer to election time, transferable MGs.
