So I can get a Mpx pistol with a brace for 1415 before tax. Is this a good deal? Should I get it /k/?
20 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
No, you might as well get the MCX for the full caliber benefits considering both have the bufferless folding stock. Not a lot of benefits of a pistol brace when you can fold a full rifle's stock just the same.
>>
>>30360848
Maybe he wants 9mm
>>
>>30360859
In that case a good normal AR 9mm pistol build can be had for significantly cheaper. Unless the folding stock option (that you still can't shoulder), is worth $500+ to you, the MPX isn't anything special.

Not bad by any means, but definitely overpriced, and that's coming from a Sigfanboi who loves muh anchor.

I'm going to turn 21 in a few months and I want a pistol that can be a good range gun/ self defense/ carry pistol. All the gun store employees recommend a glock 19 fits that description. Would you guys agree?
12 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>30360780
No.
Try out a bunch of different guns, buy what YOU like. If they're the same dimensions and caliber they'll pretty much shoot the same.
Gun stores always shill for glock 19 because they ordered too many and need to get rid of them fast.
Get what you like.
>>
>>30360780
Glock 19 is great for all those things and reasonably priced. If you buy one you will likely never be disappointing in the purchase. However.
>Try out a bunch of different guns
is good advice. You might find something you like more, especially in terms of ergonomics and controls.

No reason to buy anything buy a G19 or 17 for first pistol. Buy a dremel and wood burner for grip

a few months ago somebody posted a video about a new red dot or acog sight or something like that, it had a zoom function that you could use by pushing a button on the pistol grip of the rifle that had the sight mounted, does it ring any bells?

I might catch some hate for this, but I think people should stop recommending .22lr to new shooters forever.

I feel that by doing so youre forcing them into learning all kinds of bad habits and misinformation, while simultaneously letting them get accustomed to the lack of recoil of any other firearms. All guns that fire .22lr differ from any other gun so wildly that you can hardly compare them.

.22lr more designed for children to handle but personally I would never give a gun to someone under 18.
Perhaps what's worse is that instead of recommending something simple like an inexpensive polymer 9mm or a hammerless revolver, a lot of /k/ recommends milsurp and 10/22s for new shooters. I can't stress enough why this is the worst thing /k/ can do for new shooters, since what you are essentially doing is introducing the newbie into gun CULTURE, and not into responsible firearm ownership like it should be. By doing this, you essentially waste their money and time by having them buy a 10/22 or something instead of investing their (more than likely) limited funds on something practical that they can use to defend themselves right out the door. I see this happen a lot with foreigners and women who come to people for advice about guns and it saddens me every time I see some fudd or mall ninja do exactly what I described.

If I were to start getting someone into shooting I would let them try 9mm or .38 because of the low recoil and availability of the round. .22lr is getting harder and more expensive to find compared to other ammo as well. In addition, .22lr is mostly used for varmints and pest, something your average person won't deal with personally and would rather have an exterminator take care of.

Please /k/, we all know what .22lr is good for and when we should use it, but its time as an introductory round has come and gone. Do every new shooter a favor and just start them off on modern firearms.

.22lr is the only remaining rimfire round in any kind of common use. It's like recommending someone in the 1890s to start on a black powder Colt from the 1850s.
>>
Are you saying not to recommend it to buy as a first gun?

Or not to use it to start out someone who owns no guns and asked to go shooting with you?

Hello, /k/. I've been debating on leaving New York, towards the west on foot. I just want to know if I can bring my rifle? I have an AR-15, and a Kar98k in 8mm. I really only want them for if I have to camp in the deep woods, and for peace of mind.

Which states would be friendly with this sort of thing? I really don't want to adventure without my sweetums, it would just seem unholy.

Anyone have a similar trek that they've done? Post them up and give me some tips pls.

Sauce on the law? So basically if I'm walking and I'm stopped, and explain my situation, they would allow me to press on with my rifles?
>>
>>30360420
That is "Peaceable Journey", and although it's a federal law, states have their own regulations on it. But it's mainly on concealed pistols from what I've seen, and transporting with a vehicle.

Can anyone weigh in a bit more on this?

What are some good upgrades for a Shield? I've been thinking

>Trijicon HD tritium sights w/ Yellow front sight
>Apex duty/carry kit
>granulated Talon grips
>Magguts springs

Currently testing out both an Incog and Eclipse holster from G-Code and seeing which one I like better.

Already stippled the grip as I'm never going to get rid of this gun and thinking about trijicon hds next.

I was thinking about the apex as I didn't like the trigger at all when I first got this gun but don't feel like dropping 150 when I can buy more ammo. I've gotten used to the trigger since then.

Are those magguts reliable? I'm a little skeptical messing with magazine springs from factory ones.

Got pics of the stippling? I sorta want mine stippled like pic instead of the ugly bubbles you see on every gun.

I too want the apex but $150 is a bit too steep and I might just get the internals skipping the actual trigger assembly.

As for the magguts, people say they're reliable but I would test them out extensively before actually carrying with them.
>>
I've been running Talon Granulated grips, Magguts springs and the Apex machined sear only. All have been super reliable. Well over 500 rounds of various ammunition. Both fmj and self defense.

In Nevada these are called slungshots (not a typo) and are illegal in all forms, so no it's not a paper weight sitting in your no-guns night stand.

It seems to be a hobos l as resort and they use a handkerchief or bandana with a padlock on the end but anything with weight on the end will ruin your day.

Hey /k/, /pol/ here. Friendly reminder that /pol/ is for politics, not your little gun circlejerk. Keep your stupid gun threads in /k/.

It's getting a little annoying to have to deal with you autists spamming up the board at every chance you get with your "muh go innawoods" faggotry.

You may think that because we both support the 2nd amendment that you we are all "buddy buddy" with your autistic rifle board. But it actually comes off as disruptive and most users don't appreciate it, especially when /k/fags start shitting up every thread with pictures from their gun collection and "XD le ebin raifu" posts.

/pol/ doesn't like you /k/, you may think you are welcome but you are not.

Just thought i'd let you know. Please keep your gun threads/posts in the /k/ (weapons) board.

Which caliber is more versatile and the most common/cheapest besides the 5.56?

I guess 300 blackout, even though it is a meme round
>>
.300 BLK is by far the most versatile of the three, given that it can use any weight .30 cal projectile.

If it can be loaded into .308 it can be loaded into .300 BLK.

Super sonic, sub sonic, ultra light, ultra heavy, AP rounds (M2 boolits), soft tips, hollow point, JHP, basically anything.

You won't find any of these except for 5.56 at a local walmart but it seems like most dedicated gun stores have .300 BLK on shelves ready to be sold but not the other two.
>>
>>30359627
i really thought 6.8 SPC was the cool new thing, but when 300BLK was introduced i was convinced of the meme. converted my AR and bought an aac cyclone. no regrets.
