Pretty cool rifle who doesn't afraid of anything.
>>33524839
Is good rifle.
>>33524839
Commie junk that only has a good reputation because it's cheap and shoots.
How much of a difference would it have been in WW1 if the Americans came with a 20 round semi auto rifle?
>>33524605
uhhhhh they had one it was just FA too.....
>>33524641
BAR is a SAW not a service rifle.
>>33524605
Early SMGs and carbines faced issues with reliability in battlefield that prevented them from catching on in many militaries; even the Thompson by WWII was nearly unfit for battlefield service until modified into the M2A1 and would have been replaced much earlier if not for doctrinal differences.
So I'm going to say "negligible". The German efforts to develop Machinepistols into war-reliable mainstays was a monumental effort that obviously came too little too late.
So I'm saving for a 1911 but I'm not sure what would be a good middle of the road version.
My brother has a Ruger 1911 and he really likes it and suggests it. Obviously a Wilson combat or Para ordnance out of my price range.
>>33524602
Why don't you just get a glock?

I have a TRP, and I love mine.
So, why did the concept of a tactical poncho never catch on?
It could provide decent breaking of the human figure when blending into the environment with the right camouflage, keep your weapon/ammo/sensitive equipment safe from rain and dirt, you can rip small strips of cloth from it to make for makeshift bandages to stop bleeding if you're hit, keep the operator warm and comfy during the night as a bonus, all while making you look like a bad motherfucker straight outta the Old West, among plenty other uses.
Is it because it can get stuck on things?
>>33524462
But anon, they do still issue ponchos for rain as far as I know.
>>33524462
>rifle gets stuck on it
Dead.
>you get stuck on it
Dead.
>something gets stuck on it
Dead.
Also, if you want to wear a poncho in 120 degree weather go for it hombre.
>>33524462
Chest rig mag pouches need to be acessible, and you can't exactly just throw it over the poncho
Army still issues ponchos but we also get these nice waterproof jackets and pants that basically defeat the purpose of that
basically yeah it's a liability getting snagged on shit and getting in the way in general
How do I make my possum trap more successful?
It's in the chicken run (where a possum killed my hens) with a can of tuna and some cat food in it.
>>33524443
shoot doggo
>>33524453
Trapping doesn't fall under the ATF, yet.
>>33524443
IDK if this answers your question but this dude showcases a bunch of traps, some of which I think can help take care of your possum problem.

My question to you, /k/, purveyors of all knowledge arms related, is how does an IR missile track its target? Specifically, given that the IR tracking head can receive the heat from the target in front of it, how does the missile head know to turn right with the target or left with the target? If tracking a plane, and the plane veers left, wouldn't that just appear as the IR signal getting weaker to the missile? how does the missile head know to turn left?
>>33524383
there's literal rotating mirrors and shit and measuring amplitude and frequency and shit and it makes my brain hurt.
>>33524383
It doesn`t know anything, it just makes a wild guess
>>33524383
THE MISSILE KNOWS WHERE IT IS BECAUSE IT KNOWS WHERE IT ISN'T
What is you favorite Art Alphin segment? For me it's either the Kentucky rifle or the MG 34 vs BAR comparison.

I like the one where he gets sued by a South Dakota town
>>33524346
Never heard of him until now. After doing a search all I know is that I wouldn't go into business with him.
>>33525384
He's apparently about the best expert witness you can hire if a prosecutor has mishandled the ballistic evidence against you.
I already looked on the firearms database, but didnt find anything matching this rifle. The barrel is free floating and does not protrude past the quad rail.

looks like an AR with a dumb forend and shitty color scheme
Which of these three guns should i use for Home Defense?
I live in a house with multiple roomates so overpenetration is actually somewhat of a big deal.
I was thinking of setting up the AR since it would be much easier to use, attatch a light to and hit my target in the middle of the night, but I'd pretty much have to use earpro if I didn't want to go blind/deaf.
My glock is my daily carry gun so I could just put that under my bed at night and have it ready and loaded with hollow points, and only go partially deaf if i had to use it, plus It would look much better legally if I had to use it, but I'd be much more worried about missing with that thing as I lack the funds and time to train all the time with it, and I have to wonder, wouldn't a 9mm that missed penetrate far worse than a .223 that hit it's target.
I'm no expert on this stuff by any means, I'm a relatively new shooter that watches youtube videos on this stuff all day.
I could also get a shotgun, but honestly I'm not really into the idea. It would be just as loud as the AR and I'd have to work the action after shooting, which I don't really want to do in an HD scenario.
I mean I'll probably get a shotgun anyway just for the hell of it but Idk if it will be my home defense gun.
What do you think? I've seen a lot of youtube videos, some saying ARs are the best HD guns, some saying that they are too loud, too powerful, and too likely to overpenetrate.
>>33523927
Use whatever you are most proficient with. I'd use the AR, also get a bayonet.
>>33523927
>Which of these three guns should i use for Home Defense?
The one you are most comfortable with
AR is less likely to overpenetrate than 9mm

Not sure if this belongs on his, but as it is primarily weapon related i though I would try here first.
Your mission should you chose to accept it:

Hey /k/ommandos I know this may not be directly weapons related but I think my Teachers Assisstant is pretty cute, she's a quiet and a history nerd. I want to approach her but I'm afraid my autism and guns might scare her. How/when do I bring up firearms?
