I want to ask, how common was gun ownership in japan before WW2?
Could the average jap go into a gun store and buy a military surplus arisaka, a double barrel shotgun or a imported western pistol?
Did the goverment encourage, prevent or was neutral on the deal?
I wouldn't be surprised if it encouraged private ownership of weapons and the americans disarmed the population after they occupied the islands.
Was there any time when the japanese had easy access to firearms or any weapon for that matter?

echoing this. you're probably not going to bother to cock the hammer if you're forced to use it in a self defense scenario, and depending on your carry style it could catch
the .357 kicks a fair bit, and isn't all that fun to practice with (no snub is, even if you get the .22LR/.22WMR one you get a bitchy trigger pull).
9mm apparently has marginally better ballistics than .38 special when coming out of a barrel that short but you do have to deal with moon clips then

Am I the only one who thinks this is fucking retarded? For those of you not bothering to read, I'll summarize.

>5.56 sucks at getting through level 3 body armor
>AR-15 platform is infamously unreliable
>We need a new rifle!
To which I counter:
1: The M4 is rated to hit a man-sized target out to 500m, start issuing ACOGs to more than 1/9 of the troops to let them use that range.
2: Change the ammo. Go to AP or SAP rounds with a higher powder load for better armor penetration. Just make sure you change the recoil system this time.
3: The reliability issues in 'Nam were caused by changing the ammo without altering the recoil system. Nowadays the primary problem with M4's jamming is caused by the 30-40 year-old magazines they're still using. Replace those and feeding problems will drop drastically.
4: You're not supposed to get into a stand-off fight at 300m, you're supposed to set up the MGs and flank the enemy.
TL;DR Army doesn't need a new rifle, they need more ACOGs, new ammo/buffer system and new mags. I swear the corporate overlords are pushing this on the Army and now they're just making up bullshit to justify it to an ignorant populace.

How different would the world have worked out had the Russian white army won instead of the red?
They were allied to the Brits, Americans, French and the Chinks.
That in mind, would they have managed to reinstate the Russian Tsar? Had they done that I imagine that they would have had a strong alliance with the aforementioned countries.
So, would they still be part of the alliance during the second world war? I imagine the cold war wouldn't have happened.
How would military technology be different? We wouldn't have had the same compeition between the west and the east during the cold war so how would the world be?
I feel that this could be something interesting. I didn't want to take this to /his/ because they're both faggots and also this is my home board.

I'm 20 and currently getting kicked out of the house.
I live just outside of Detroit and found a home for 1k with no back taxes. they are fucking giving these houses away. I was thinking about buying one getting it up to code, and making it into a fortress with defenses, self sustainability, and reinforced windows and doors. most likely wont have to worry about hostile nigs because all the other houses are pretty much burnt to the ground. i was thinking solar panels to help with bills. its on a half acre so i could definitely farm a lot of food.
also if I come to a point to where I can afford it, i will buy the rest of the block and set up a feudalist system where the homeless are the serfs. I would have a kingdom. i would make a medieval town complete with shops and farms. personally i think its a step up from what they have now.
