The katana is a simple, elegant, good-looking all-in-one weapon that satisfies all your sword needs. Its versatility means it can be the user's sole melee weapon aside from a small sidearm, which doesn't really count. This combines with Japan's standardization on the katana to make it a very popular, iconic sword.

By contrast, there's too many western swords in play. More recent sabres are different from medieval swords, and when westerners think about swords, they think about knights in shining armor. Rapiers are totally different, and aren't very cool because they're needle-like poking weapons (cutting is way cooler than poking) associated with silly stances. The katana is associated with minimalist styles, which are inherently cooler.

Two western swords stand out ad being really cool: the Guts-like fuckhuge greatsword and Excalibur. The former is an exaggerated fantasy weapon which you can't replicate in real life, and which is obviously impractical to carry around on a regular basis unless you get attacked by giant monsters every day. Excalibur is the western equivalent of a katana: another simple, versatile sword that does it all and represents a category used widely by stereotypical knights. If anyone has any doubts as to whether an Excalibur-type sword is super cool, simply refer to how popular female King Arthur is in Japan.

Ergo Katana is superior to western weapons. I admit the quality if steel can be worse but as a design its superior

Completley new to guns, I want to get a shotgun for home defense.
Should I go with buckshot or slugs for maximum murder power?

Does this Gun actually just suck? Literally every WW2 Pistol in the German's Arsenal had a better Muzzle Velocity and Foot Pounds. Diameter and Penetration don't exactly seem useful in the cases of that War in regards to the 1911, either. I mean, it set the standard for Future Handguns, and all. But it in of itself seems like garbage.

Why don't we be smart and use highly mobile quick firing air transportable mortar tankettes like the Germans? A squad of these can follow the troops, lay quick 120mm cover fire on the enemy, carry supplies and ammo for the troops, and retreat with 70 km/h to the base.

I live in Los Angeles in a ghetto neighborhood, I am here momentarily as it's close to the hospital I am doing my Residency in.

While I was taking a shit, I hear someone walking in the back alley, very few people walk through that alley, and it's mostly Nurses and Doctors who live in that area.

I heard the footsteps stop right next to my Window, I get curious and peek outside, I see this bald headed short dark skinned, head to toe tattooed up MS13 looking guy. He's taking pictures of my kitchen window which is an incredibly easy target to break into, and to top it off, the Hospital doesn't let me install bars on that window.

So I quickly wipe my ass, put on my gunbelt, and run outside looking for this guy to confront him about what just happened, (my gun is covered by my t shirt), when I find him, I tell him.

The people that used to live here before, were broken into, and the woman raped and guy beat up. I do have an ADT alarm system installed, and a gun next to my bed, so I'm not terribly worried, but what are the chances this vato and his family members come back?

I didn't call the police seeing as how I didn't get a good glimpse at any tattoo and all the beaners in this area all look alike, it was dark as well, I wouldn't have been able to pick him out of a line.

Had he attacked me, and I would have shot him, would I have been the focus matter, of American media?

Anons, I am not that familiar with weapons, got a question for you. Why was PPSH-41 removed from Soviet arsenal and for what reasons?

Would it be practical to have in 2017 a gun similar to PPSH-41? If no, why not?

Alright /k/. What about this for a short series or something for Netflix, or an anime/manga or whatever the fuck.

Guy "Or you" gets transported to medieval Europe or Feudal Japan or some shit, WITH his EDC. He then goes through a chain of events learning forms of combat based on where he is but has his gun for "OH SHIT" moments or when he needs to show that he is a god.

What do you think? Make for an interesting story/show? As I was writing this, I realized it's VERY similar to Army of Darkness but think less hokey.

TL:DR Transported back in time, EDC Pistol only for super OH SHIT moments whilst learning combat of the time as a show/book.
