Newfag here. Don't know if there's a thread for this sort of thing (apologies in advance if there is) but I was hoping I might get some critiques/constructive criticism from the lovely cit/ic/ens around here. This is a series I started working on recently and any feedback would be appreciated.

4/4. I have more in mind for the future, but I want to improve my style a bit first, hence why I came here.
How the hell do people get their sketchbook pages to look so careful and deliberate? Like, you can just flip through every page and it's basically an unpublished "art of" book rather than a sketchbook. All of my sketchbooks are a fucking mess, usually if I want to do something finished, I do it on a free piece of paper or digitally.

You are doing it right pham
>>2567675
There is the sketchbook and then there is the "sketchbook"" you show to people.

Critique my tattoo. Try to be constructive!
Love it, OP, did you design it yourself?
>>2568453
No, and I don't see the point in lying about it like most do. I got the design off of google and changed it to my liking. It's not exactly like the google image. But at least I'm honest aye?
>>2568453
Here's the design, I used. I like it and don't really care if it's a copy.
I'm very new to Copic markers, and so far, I'm really liking them. Considering I want to do more bright JoJo-esque colouring like I did here, what colours would you recommend to me?
Also, general Copic thread. Show off nice colour combos and stuff.
Your drawing is really nice, but I think the background detracts from the main drawing, making it too busy. Personally, I usually just use one or two colors because I'm basic as hell.
>>2568557
Hmm true, I think I kind of overdid the background in an overambitious attempt to stay true to the style. I think it would've worked out better if I left several of the patterns out or did them in a less saturated colour.
Yeah, same as >>2568557 said. But very clean looking on that character, I like it
I haven't gotten into copics at all partially because they're expensive. I'm thinking about picking up like, one or two grey markers just for a few shades of values, though. Does anyone do this?
I plan to start making illustration portfolio specially aimed for card games. Though probably I don't have enough skill to land jobs in big card games like magic the gathering and legend of the cryptids, heartstone, I will be able to do the standard of some smaller card games; poxnora, spellweaver, hex to name a few. Do you have any tips on what illustrations should I make, or what ratio should I use. Please don't say obvious research the companies and do what they do, because I plan to do that. But maybe you guys can help me with tips what helped you on your journey.
>>2558786
Well you already said the obvious which is to do some research which is the best thing.
I've done work for small card companies and some things to keep in mind:
-the pay isn't great so try to work efficiently. This may mean using photos at some point in the process, or having organized layers and clipping masks, whatever works for you.
-get a clear value read/composition because they are often viewed very small
-get some variety in what you show, like maybe have some character pieces with different design, a card that shows a spell or action etc
-a small portfolio of strong pieces is better than a large one with inconsistent pieces
-I don't think the ratio matters as different games have different formats
>>2558786
make a lot. quantity looks professional. don't overthink the work itself, these types of illustrations don't need to be masterpieces. they need primarily to have a good read and efficient use of contrast. other than that, yaeh make a lot. try to have 25+ illustrations. you don't have to show all but when your hiring dude scrolls down and sees that there's a ton of work, he'll immediately think of you as a seasoned veteran.
>>2558792
Thanks!
I know it isn't much money, but we must start somewhere
How short are the deadlines?
>>2558800
As far as I know, quantity with quality looks professional. That aside I know they don't have to be masterpieces that take 40hours to finish and I plan to make around 20 pieces to send. Thanks for advice :)
Does anyone have this problem unexpectedly in PS CS6 and how to fix this?
Pic related, no webm unfortunately...

Your opacity isn't 100% on the brush.
set your brush method to normal.
>>2568269
Brush method is on normal and was the whole time. Tried redoing the brush mode back to normal a few times and still didn't work.

1/2 things I did yesterday. The closest wing is in fact shorter, because the perspective distortion is too strong. Is it bad to cheat this way? What should I do in principle?
2/2 Started with more realistic colors, then pushed them to make it more interesting. Any crits on colors/composition...? (the lineart will be fixed)

Try real art instead of Messy looking pointless vandalism.
I'm looking for works of communist artists.
>>2560885
What do you mean by communist artists? Subject matter, style, something else? Do you mean soviet block artists or the ones from say, Cuba or China? Modern ones, 50s, 70s?
>>2560885
Artists that defended communism in their opinions.
Like Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
>>2560891
I assume OP meant artists which worked in communist countries while communism was in full bloom
