Don't be a pussy and practice every day.

You will find this with any hobbie, the deeper you get into it the wider breadth of knowledge you become aware you must learn. The pros are only good at it because they stuck with it. And they stuck with it because they enjoy it.
Ask yourself, do you enjoy making art? Do you enjoy the challenge of constantly trying to top your previous picture? IF you answer yes to those two questions then that's all you need. That is the secret to getting good. Enjoying the process of getting good. It's easy to lose focus when you see how fare you will have to go to get to where you want to be, but you must keep focussed on the now and what you're drawing now.
Personally, though I never set hard goals for myself, I was constantly looking for artists I thought were just a bit better than me and I'd analyze how they do what they do and I'd try to replicate it.
Now I see a lot of artists who are clearly trying to do pictures that are way out of their comfort zone, and this is foolish, be aware of your skill level and how quickly you can improve and always set your standards just a little above that.
What exactly do you want to draw?
Critique?

The 'R' looks cute
Don't sign sketches
Shade the cloak to give it more definition

Your feet are way too flat, they need to be in perspective.
The nose in the left-most picture is on an entirely different angle compared the the head. The head is looking straight ahead while the nose is bent in a 3/4 headshot. Also the hands here are bent inward in an unnatural position.
The eyes are too close to each other and not in perspective in that 3/4 shot
The mouth is too low.
The thing around her neck is unclear. Is it a scarf or a turtleneck?
Ear is too small
This entire thing is just lacking fundamentals.
by knowing how to draw
>>2578721
Awesome, thanks!
how many hours do you spend drawing/studying a week?
what do you think is the optimum amount of time to spend drawing is?
>>2578679
>how many hours do you spend drawing/studying a week?
3*7= 21
So around 21 hours a week. I still don't feel like it's enough.
Iunno... I've been putting in at least two hours a day. 14 hours. Need to increment it slowly.
60 spent "drawing," real time is probably much less than that.
Can someone draw this, or animate it?

that depends on how much are you paying anon
Okay, so disregarding the actual tuition fees, what would be the best colleges to learn concept art/illustration in the U.S? Places where I can learn valuable technical skills and such. Art Center seems promising but I've heard a lot of shit about it, so I'm not sure. Thoughts?
Fuck collage, it will only give you debt and will actually hinder progress
Either take a cs course or/and neet it up and take digital mentorships/live drawing sessions and ataliers
>>2578885
> disregarding the actual tuition fees
ive heard good things about laguna college of art and design, but youd be way better off searching for an atelier vs an art college.
Are there any good books/videos relating to art history?
Something that goes in depth of examining the paintings of the artist/art movements or even a biography of any one particular artist.
I've neglected in researching the history of art.

go to a fucking bookstore! used, new, whatever.

I gave a read to some taschen editorial artbooks (rococo, bosch, michelangelo) and they were actually pretty good and not too expensive for what I could see.
What is the meaning of art?

How old are you that you honestly believe that those are the "universal standards"......

lololooolololoolo that video, nice one senpai
>Want to quit practicing art so I can start animating a cartoon
Is drawing every day (Not studying everyday) better than totally quitting practice?
I've been thinking I would do 2 days of studies, and then 1 day of animation in between.
I might do the reverse though.
>>2578413
By no means am I master of art, but I don't want to put my animation on hold anymore.

Nice studies, what makes his artform so special? His Lines are very loose and fit together,as everything is one! Just beautifull.
>>2578382
that's rough but funny OP
I feel like learning to draw is a never ending series of going down the wrong path for a long time, accidentally doing something different that looks nice, incorporating it into your repertoire, and then repeating this until death.
Is this accurate? How do I stop all the bullshit knocking on the wrong doors?
>pic unrelated, but let your MP know we want to deport Davcam and samcam
by not whining about it on a chinese cartoon forum and actually drawing
What's objectively the best and most reputable art school in the world? I wanna find out so I can get it then brag about it on here, thanks.

Feng Zhu's School of design.
I'm just enrolling to study CS in college.
I've given up on being an artists.
It's there a chance I can still make paintings by coding a smart AI to produce such paintings?
It's even possible to do that?
Hell, there's people making garbage on cans, I'm sure It's allowed.
>I'm just enrolling to study CS in college.
Smart choice, art schools are s h i t and a waste of time & money and CS is a good/smart thing to have a masters degree in
>I've given up on being an artists.
Why give up?
>It's there a chance I can still make paintings by coding a smart AI to produce such paintings?
Yes, but you will probably not discover any such coding though if you can't even stick to art, you will probably work doing optimization shit for a shit company and hate yourself though as every person doing those things do it with the same passion artists share with art
>It's even possible to do that?
Yes
>Hell, there's people making garbage on cans, I'm sure It's allowed.
What
>>2578238
>It's there a chance I can still make paintings by coding a smart AI to produce such paintings?
Yeah, eventually.
Robutts will eventually make us all obsolete.

because after 12 years of doing art I can only draw like this.
I know the rules, but I just discovered I'm not naturally talented for art.
>how do you know
I took the meyers test, I'm ENTJ.

I think it's true.
Why are artist the worst type of people?
>>2578189
I think you know just a few types of people
seJdʒ
Why are the worst people always an artist?
Can't find the drawthread link, so I'm making a thread
I would like some advice on how to make the background. Do you have some ideas ?
I thought about a japanese/cyberpunk type of city who would be quite detailed (not big blocks of black or grey ink) with a big red moon behind the head of the mecha.
>>2578120
Why do you create a thread for that double nigger?
lol. next time, spend 30 seconds longer searching for the draw thread.
CATALOG AND CTRL+F
>>2578120
Study some refs and use low detail in background to bring attention to the center (the mecha) - see pic related. Remember that landscapes have layers, like an onion - fore, mid and background.
But a more general tip would be to drop the excessive rendering and focus on basic perspective and the fundamentals, because if you continue this approach to learning art, I guarantee you'll end up in /cringe/ threads.
