Dear Anons, do you like traditional drawings?
Do you enjoy pagan and primeval themes?
Do you enjoy the beauty of the human figure?
Then I have a treat for you.

What are the supplies that you use or consider top tier? If you post 2 things that are in the same category, make sure the differentiate their tier as well.
Sakura Pigma Microns are pretty top tier for the price.
Platinum Carbon Black ink
Is there a simple test you can take to determine whether or not art is something you will be good at?
The answer is always "yes." It's only dependent on whether or not you have the discipline and willpower to go through with it. However, if you're asking this sort of question, you may not have it in the first place.

Literally just draw. If you find that you can't make significant improvement in this first year then clearly you aren't cut out for drawing.
Yes
Draw 3 hours a day for 10 years
If you're good at art then you can confirm that art is something for you
If not than it's not for you
What's a good sources for Reference images? I use pinterest but any source for good stuff to work off of would be good.
Really got my neurons firing
You can put on a show while giving a critique, as long as it's an actual criticism of the artwork, you nigger.
Rules are useless if there's no one there to enforce them. Just look at how the government rolls with laws.

Opinions on surrealism?
I was a fan of Mark Ryden's BLOOD album but never collected the art. Jim Woodring appears to be a traditional surrealist but David B's comics manage to confound me more.
Artwork can be metaphoric in small or great parts. You can apply "this is not a pipe" to so many objects in a more basic composition. Learning to view objects spiritually is a major barrier for some people.
It seems like Poland and Australia have some of the best surrealist painters although I can't say why that would be.
Oh! Disney's Alice In Wonderland 1933... Kicks the shit out of the animated and Tim Burton version
>>2975895
I'm a fan of the real surrealist movement, not a big fan of the kind of "disneylike" fantasy surrealism that has nothing to do with the movement

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Does anyone here work or is familiar with doing japanese drawings? I'm looking for some art to do my whole back but i want to do something more original, not just some dragons from google images.
>>2979284
Also, is there any easy way to find someone that does this kind of tattoo close to me? like an app, some group idk
>>2979288
well my sister works in a high end tattoo shop. so heres how it works.
ALL the tattoo artists know each other, its like a guild system. crumby artists will take walk ins, and are mostly for stuff off the wall. if you see only teenagers, walk out.
The real deal need hours of prep time with you before hand to live draw in on your skin a bit before they finalize the art on paper. they take it very seriously, and skin stretches differently on different spots, so you cant just draw up a full sized tattoo with out poking your meat a bit. you will need an appointment WAY in advance.
you can try facebook, all good shops have one, talk to them. That's what my sisters entire day job is, answering questions like this. If they wont help you out, then they probably ain't good enough for this huge style of work. Artists themselves don't do the pre talking, its a very strange guild like system of appearances and masters and serfs who work for them. complex, but silly. i'd try going to a few local spots and just try talking a bit. see who they recommend.
>Her shop is in the cal bay area if your near-ish I can ask her for a good Japanese guy. also, expect to pay alot of cash for that much work. you have to tip too.
>>2979341
oh and ask to look at some of the artist portfolios, that's a good way to find scrubs and pros.
how do I get good without spending any time studying or practicing?
don't feed him guys

Neuromod(s)
Or sending electrical signals to your brain, idk if its safe

Define "good" as your current level, then voila: You have now gotten good.
At what point does a beginner become an intermediate?

>the closest artistic descendants of Leonardo da Vinci are a cartoon animator and a digitalfag.
is this what tumblr webcomic artists really believe? why wouldn't the second panel be picasso? why would the first panel be a guy who can't even draw? are shitty artists really this self-congratulating and self-loathing? they really think their first drawing on a tablet or a sketch of a walking rabbit is comparable to a masterpiece by an old master?
Hey there guys I'm just looking for some constructive criticism, never been to art school and have mostly just done trial and error, wanted to see how I could improve
Here's the finished one accidentally posted the wrong file, sorry
>>2980961
Constructive criticism? Use construction.
