Comic by me.

I've been reading loomis for half a year now and honestly the book is fucking stupid. He says some really nonsensical shit like what I posted in my comic Furthermore, it doesn't help at all for stylized art. It's always those same ugly looking caucasian heads that don't really apply to the stuff i wanna learn..

Your art is shit, with or without Loomis.

Andrew Loomis isn't s book, but a person. You sound confused OP.
>>
loomis wipes his ass with you, maybe if you kept reading and studying you could make something other than snarky comics. one of the rare examples of someone who could teach and produce.

I decided to experiment with colored pencils. The pack I used required a lot of force to get the color out. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Use alcohol for blending and layering the pigment.
Git gud at drawing.
>>
>>2978309
Using alcohol. Interesting.
>>
yeah, i've had the same experience with those colored pencils - there's barely any pigment, definitely a flaw in those.

For a different set in the same price range, I was also pleasantly surprised with pentel colored pencils - they're great for detail work & blocking in color for beginners, imo. Very bright colors.

Why do you love about his style?
>>
>>2977125
Huh... this is the guy that Kr0n gets his style from, isn't he?

After flipping through his artstation, Kr0n is suddenly much less impressive.
>>

Same here, Anon.

I've also been looking for his vids and more lineart pictures.

It would be great if there's someone here who could share his patreon work.

> Have a decent amount of followers
> Decent art I guess, people like them at least
> Gets art reposted on other sites that I don't care for or have an account on (with permission)
> Gets regularly asked if I do commissions

My problem is the commissions part. I don't do commissions because I don't have confidence in my stuff. I'm so afraid I'll fuck it up somehow. But I really want to do commissions since earning more monies is always good.

I've tried getting opinions in the past anonymously if people would pay for my shit and all of the response has been positive. So I don't understand why I feel or think this way.

Is there a way to have a more positive mindset? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like imposter syndrome. Maybe try charging small amounts of money or doing commissions for free until you get more comfortable.
>>
How would you know if you don't try?
Open up commisions, a few spots. Make sure to note it's the first time you're doing this kind of thing. If stress wins over close it. But at least give it a try, especially if so many people are interested in it, you might be losing money by waiting here.

This is the first time I've see an artwork like this and it looks great. You can move the camera around as though the art was drawn on the inside of a sphere. Anybody know how this was achieved? Like what software was used?

He's talking about the spherical shape dumbass. 'Digital software' is just a repeat of what OP asked for. What software?

because you have just spent the last 4 years doing it and training, all that time would have been wasted. keep trying .

Write a good story and develop a new style to suit it.

Annie Murphy Robinson

I'm going to take a bash at hyperrealistism. I dug up the following on her process:

>All of annie pieces are >sanded charcoal on paper. >She uses 300gsm BFK Rives >printmaking paper. Her >charcoal is a mix of >compressed charkole not >pastel charcoal (look for >brown undertones or blue not >silvery gray),vine 3mm >Winsor&Newton, and >compressed Winsor &Newton >extra-soft. Her sandpapers >vary, but she tends to use 400 >grain 1" square-folded. Her >composition is block-in: using >charcoal to create >dark, medium and light areas, >then using a small electric >sander with 400 grain sand >paper, removing sizing and >opening the weave of the >paper's texture.

>She always starts with the >eyes.

>She uses cropped photos for >1:1 reference.

Does anyone have knowledge of what they're talking about here? Is the sander for subtraction (like an eraser)?

I don't give a fuck about impressing normies or becoming a living photocopier. I just want to do one to satisfy myself.

But I have seen issues with paper tooth and darkness of charcoal in attaining that depth of value. That's why I looked this chick's technique up...

Don't care whether she traces or not. How does she achieve the depth?

Also, sorry I utterly fagged up the greentext...
>>
>>2983647
Don't take it too hard, OP is a faggot by default.
I am complete noob and therefore cannot give you any advice, besides not being so defensive before anyone even attacked you. Nobody cares why you draw.
Depth is only a matter of accurate values and not fucking up the perspective. Given that you think you are able to deal with hyper-realism I assume line-work is not your problem.
take a shot at it and post here, I'm sure then /ic/ will have a lot to say about it.
>>
>>2983627
funny that when one person does this sort of thing they're an artist and it's 'hyperrealism' but when i see some housewife doing it at a crafts fair it's barely worth a second look, or the $20 she's asking.

No idea but honestly I like it.
Theres something about unapologetically bad/rough art

Has anyone used action figures to practice drawing people? Are they worth it? I'm thinking about getting the ones in the pic, but I want to draw realistic people and the girl looks too anime IMO (head too big, waist too tiny, etc). I'd really appreciate recommendations if you have any.

there both pretty shit anatomically. if you want to draw realistic people, start drawing real life people in real life or from pictures.
>>
they are ok for getting some poses (they cant bend certain ways you might want them to)
but anatomically they arent that great. i have a few tho. i used them for like a few days, i never use them now.
>>
>>2983163
I draw from pictures, but I know that drawing from real life is more effective, and I'm too much of a chicken shit to go to figure drawing classes where everybody will probably be better than me, hence why I wanted to get the figures. Will just have to suck it up and do the classes then, I guess.

If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
