I don't personally know anyone that is into drawing and I don't have many friends in general so I was thinking of joining my campus' art club.
Is this a bad idea? Have you joined a similar club?
>>2351080
at least it isn't the anime club
If it's an art club, probably would be cool, if it's anime based, you would quickly end up hating art
>>2351080
All clubs are normie hook-up centrals.
Has anyone here worked or personally known someone who has worked at an art supplies store? Is it reallt as shitty as I hear it is? Did they to to art school before working there?
I have a friend who works at one while attending art school. She really likes it. What have you heard about it being terrible?
can't imagine it's any worse than regular retail
>why don't you carry xxx? can't do my shit project without xxx. let me talk to a manager reeeeee
>can i use a coupon on these
>can i use ebt on these
>people who bring a bunch of shit up to the pos and decide not to get anything
retail a shit
If I'm a NEET how many hours a day should I study arting?
All of them
>>2350752
Alright so like what? Draw for an hour and take a 30 minute break and rinse and repeat?
>>2350761
No, draw for 30 minutes ant take 1 hour break.
Don't forget to shitpost on /ic/.
How do I get rid of my ego?
Many times when I'm painting I think about the likes I'm going to get on Facebook when I post the drawing. I hate this feel.
>>2349916
>caring
its normal to like being liked (in a non-facebook way) in fact it can be great motivation to improve.
there's no need to kill off your ego unless you're a giant douchebag. being proud of yourself is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
Finding satisfaction in getting lots of likes isn't the problem - the problem is when you get lots of likes and assume it's because you're hot shit, then going and telling everyone what hot shit you are. "Why should I listen to you when I get more likes than you lol" shit like that. That's when your ego gets in the way and makes you an intolerable shit to everyone around you.
>>2349916
>Finding satisfaction in getting lots of likes isn't the problem
That is the problem, Anon. As a matter of fact it is the root cause of the problem, when you draw you draw for yourself not how many upboats you'll get.
What would /ic/ do if they won the Powerball lottery? It's up to 1.5 Billion dollars right now.
Would you still try and git gud? Would you still try and make it professionally? Would you use your new fortune to finance your dream art project?
>100 on top
>the rest is ones
lol
>>2345028
I would go to FZD school.
>>2345028
To add a more definitive spin to your question:
At the new year party at our local crafts/arts workshop everyone was, in fact, given a state loto ticket (just fot shit and giggles, largely, but, hey — you never know).
If I would have won I would probably spend a large chunk of it to get large-scale glassworking equipment installed, glassblowing lathe, etc.
How true is this?
I made that picture a while ago, I'm surprised someone saved it. I believe there is some truth to it. Did you save it from here or from elsewhere? I'd like to know how far it may have spread if at all.
>>2343448
its been re-posted quite a lot on this board alone.
>>2343448
got sauce on the bottom pic? What are they doing?

From last thread:
So before the thread dies, which will take about a year....
Anyone have someone under your radar for any reason? Any masterful anons that you admire? Any scrappy beginners who seem to have potential that you want to see grow? Or on the flip side, who are you gleefully watching to crash and burn either in the competition or in terms of their own artistic progress?
>>2349411 impressive
I got my eye on that anon 313
I spent 3.5 hours on pic and I fuck it up.
I will post it but I hate it.
Kill me.
Why do vertical lines as eyes seem more natural than horizontal lines, even though in reality eyes are more horizontal than vertical?
Probably because of cats and shit.
But also, the almond shape of eyes make it so the cornea touches the top and sometimes bottom lid and is interrupted either side by the sclera. So it's better represented by a vertical line touching the top and bottom of each lid, than a horizontal line suggesting it stretches to either end or that the eye is closed.
I guess because the iris and the pupil become a vertical ellipse when the head is not viewed from the front.
>>2346324
Wait, I think I mean iris instead of cornea.
So ive started this piece with some print outs from photoshop, going to be going over it with acylics so bear in mind i only just started this. On the right side of one layer i got worried about tearing the paper so didnt cut as close to the lines as i would have liked. Anyone got any advice on how to hide the paper edge?
>>2350651
Want to get a textured feel for the background with some molding paste, do you think this will be enough to hide the edge?
first time with paypal here and im opening commissions and stuff..which here?
>>2350388
Oh gee I don't know. I have a hard time reading too.
Any of you have any good references for the muscle anatomy of the body from different angles, specifically for the arms.
By the way, might as well ask while I'm at it. Which books on anatomy are most recommended which aren't in the sticky?
>>2350337
Get Bridgeman's book. It's the most intuitive, easiest to understand anatomy book out there.
>>2350336
Here is some things to get you started. If you like the references consider getting the book or pdf.
Strength Training Anatomy 2nd Edition
it has some of the best anatomy illustrations.
>be me
>get a pad tablet because I'm poor as fuck
>draw with it
>this fucking thing appears
How do people get so good without a screen? I know practice is a major factor, but is there other advice?
>Flash 5
What the fuck, nigga?
>>2345794
I actually have personal and legit reasons why I'm using this ancient technology that I won't get into.
>>2345788
>I know practice is a major factor
It's the only factor mate, sorry.
This guy I know has this posted on facebook (see attached pic) I don't mind the price, but what I really want to know is how the hell he does it? How does he get the paint to do that?
this is what happens when the colors are very liquid but don't completely mix
haven't you ever tried to mix colors before painting a wall? it's the same effect, he probably just pours a mix of liquid paint and lets it dry
>>2342457
Really? It's that simple? That's kind of cool. Thank you anon.
>>2342450
He just floats some thine out oil paint on water, then swirls it with a stick, then dipped the canvas in to it. I do this with Guitars, ll the time.
ITT Post the piece of art that you created in 2015 that you enjoy the most
>>2333655
ill bite, i really like how this came out, flaws and all.
>>2333660
I really really really really like this too, anon.
This isn't some anatomy, shading or painting master piece, but i love it, everything was made by my hands. My inspiration was those amazing Kingdom Hearts Stained Glass art.
Lets not beat around the bush, this man is obnoxious as hell
But his course worth it?
>>2348165
>Lets not beat around the bush, this man is obnoxious as hell
Fuck off.
No. Who wants to hear an instructor with nearly 30 years of experience ramble on about his process while he draws for 3 hours? So not worth it. Art instructors should be dead silent and not say anything. What makes a good art instructor is that he draws or paints better than other people, I don't want to hear him sit here and try and "explain" how or why that might be-as if that's relevant at all.
>>2348171
That's what bugged me about Lipking's portrait video. The dude just stays almost dead silent while painting his wife and sparsely chimes in with some very obvious commentary on what he's doing like "just blending the edges on the neck."
It's still cool to be able to see him paint, but goddamn banter a little, dude.
