So what's the level I should aspire IF I want to live off my art? I don't mean to be ultra-super-mega-good but something along the lines of "meh, you pass now go make minimum wage"?

I just want to make like 1000$ monthly with my art, as an illustrator or a concept artist, working from home.

Is this possible? at what lvl is this possible? more or less. can ic point this out?
I'm a beginner not a total-utter-out-of-hope beginner but a beginner I am

so? what do you think? any advice?

To OP: work on getting a studio gig. Art is a skill that is meant to be paid top dollar. Or you can prostitute yourself on fiverr and work more than a real job for peanuts. If that's what you want then go for it.

Why are artists who have really good construction, use of space, value, all that junk, usually really bad at character design?
You'd think someone as advanced in their craft would be able to spot their weaknesses, and this doesn't only apply to Japanese illustrators, but many western artists' original characters (that are not your generic space marine/medieval knight) are usually shit.

Good question. I think a complete well rendered pice should be the aggregate of knowledge one learns many thumb nails and quick studies. Better to do that than run right in spend hours rendering a pice, hoping the anatomy and comosition is correct.
I'm interested to hear other opinions.
