Anyone tried this out? I don't expect it to be a substitute for real study but it's somewhat cheap and I need something to do on the commute to and from Uni.
Seems like it's just a glorified paint/art program but does it teach you anything?

See by yourself.
If you want to be good at drawing on a 3DS, sure.
Also was kind of annoyed how the Pokemon 3DS version had markers and layers while the Wii U version doesn't.

The one on the WiiU, Art Academy: Atelier/Art Academy: Home Studio looks much better actually.
The sticky is too advanced. I've been learning to draw on an Intuos Draw tablet for a day now, and my line work is childish. I think I might be able to get better by just drawing simple shapes for weeks then slowly improve and move onto shading and such, but I've heard you guys talk about "practicing wrong." Is un-curated practicing a bad idea for someone who is drawing at a ten year old level?
I think I'm not good enough to jump into Loomis yet
Draw some stuff from reference.
Look at your drawing and focus on the parts that differ the most from the refference.
Draw it again and try to correct your mistakes.
Repeat this process with another references till you get good.
If Loomis is giving you trouble watch some of Proko's videos for starters, he covers similar concepts and once you get those you should ideally be able to understand what Loomis is getting at. Loomis is suggested not because he's the only option, but because he generally covers the things you need starting out.
If Proko goes over your head you're hopeless though.

pretty shit desu ,
1 out of 2
plz try again

Well, it could be better, if I'm being honest. But what matters is improving. Perhaps you could study a reference point, break it up into shapes, and replicate that? Try to learn a few shading elements and ways to add in texture, and it should be much better. Practice makes perfect.
hey,
I just bought a new bamboo fun tablet, do you have any good settings tips or should I use the default profile?
thanks!
Not really. It's a bamboo, not much use in calibrating the thing. It's a nice jump pad to other tablets. Try and save up for an intuos pro, medium is the best, if you want anything larger, then just get a graphics tablet.
>not answering your question like a faggot
Yes, well; hold the pen 90 degrees, tip pointing towards the board. Really, dont flip it around like some sort of magic brush, bamboo's not designed for that.
Use your arm, not your wrist. You'll find it easier in the long run.
Oh, and just use the default option. It's easier to just use shortcut keyboard commands.
Sorry for a long shitpost. Good luck!

how much did you pay for that tablet OP..

Do you guys agree?
I agree with most of his points(don't know why he sounds so angry), but he seems to be going into conspiratorial territory at times(modern art meant to brainwash the American public) as well making some points that are just plain wrong, such as classical art completely disappearing in the West/US
For one thing, America was the leader in animation, and in order to animate, you had to know and study the fundamentals such as anatomy, gesture and the like in addition, many art histor

so how do i get into pretentios no-skill contemporary art?
like how do i get recognized by the rich smugs and cash in some mad dough?
I'm starting to get my head around this great software, but hope to clarify some things;
- Why is it that when using the brush, pressing with full pressure doesn't achieve the darkest shade? It seems I need to go over it several times.
- Speaking of that feature, I was hoping to make it so that only pressure would determine darkness. The problem is if I make a stroke next to a stroke that's already there, and I overlap, the overlap part gets darker. Can this be changed?
- Is there a quick way to toggle off pressure, like if you just want to lay down some foundation colour in a certain spot?
- What are your thoughts on the way Manga Studio mixes paint automatically? Do you find it better than having to do it manually with Photoshop?
when in doubt start clicking anything you can find to see what it does
Make sure you have opacity as well as density set to 100, and dont put spacing too low either.

Draw realistically? Most can't, but that's not the point of their work or relevant to them at all.

Bring us your roughs, your storyboards, your pencil tests etc. Talk about industry, schools, the hopelessness of it all, how we all gonna make it etc.
If you're gonna post animation that isn't yours give source or state that it isn't yours.
Keep shitposting to a minimum. Don't feed the trolls.

How do i get into and start getting good at chinese/japanese calligraphy?
One of my sports coaches is really into it and says it helps him focus because he has really bad ADHD and I saw some of his work and it was really beautiful and I wanted to start doing it. Any books/websites/material i could use to start? any help welcome
>>2347105
Learn the languages first. That'd probably be your first priority.
>>2347110
Is it necessary for doing good calligraphy?
>>2347114
In Japanese, there are certain stroke patterns you need to abide by for it to be correct. I don't know shit about calligraphy, but it just makes more sense to me if you know what you're putting on the parchment.
Hi /ic/ first time posting here. I would like some critiques concerning my work. I did this in about 90-95 mins with no references. I know it is full of mistakes, but I want to know the most glaring mistake, so that I can work on it. Thanks in advance.
Do more Full-body practices and less (if possible dont even bother) upper body ones.Read some art books. work hard and git gud.honestly, there are so many mistakes here i cant even be bothered to point all of them out.(you did okay on the face and that is it)

Just follow the steps and post your results. Also probably post your reference image so we can see how close you got.
This is a really good exercise but I'm scared.
>trying to remember photos
Wut? I will do that but what's the point? I had built my visual library basically just by doing life drawings, there is no sense of depth on photos as in real life
There is nothing better than sketching real people or whatever
>>2346956
You're not getting it. You don't try to remember the photograph, you try to understand what is depicted and apply your understanding in coherent way.
