What makes the visual art industry different from the music industry in terms of supply and demand?

How is it different?

music has had more of a change due to advances in software...
loops ready made midis and the like have enabled music creation to become a bit of a "paint by numbers"experience.

technology has affected both though and at its core, no matter how much software you have, its creativity that is key to making interesting work
>>
>>3085137
There's a lower supply of music artists because instruments and equipment cost a lot of money; there's a big barrier to entry,
Any visual artist can pick up a pencil and start drawing; there is no barrier to entry.
Visual artists will usually end up catering to a smaller audience in order to distinguish themselves, whereas often even visual artists like to listen to music artist's songs when they work.
It's easy to make a judgement of a picture at a glance, but a song will take at least a few minutes to judge (enough time to change your mind on it).
Likewise you can listen to a song while doing something else, but an image takes up all your focus.

tl;dr musical artists have a greater monetary barrier to entry, but have less competition, broader appeal, broader applicability, and are subject to less scrutiny.
Lower supply, higher demand.

long term art really is an all or nothing, especially with something as committed as a comic book series.

>friendly reminder that the creator of One Piece said that the manga is literally killing him, and he wanted to hire someone to help but one of the requirements was that they had to be willing to "die for One Piece" and the creator of Naruto said something similar iirc
granted they've been doing it for fucking ever but still.

I also want to make a comic but I know I'm nowhere near in a position to be doing so, and I'm doing both the writing and illustrations, so I spend my spare time creating character concepts and thinking about things to happen in the story and other shit like that. Don't focus so much on the outcome, but the journey. My best advice is to leave the idea for a little while. And I mean actually leave it. Actively do other things that have nothing to do with making comics. Come back to it in 2 weeks or so and see if you still feel it.

But I haven't tasted any kind of success in art aside from a small handful of commissions so take my "advice" with an enormous grain of salt.
>>
>>3083466
Well, did you enjoy working on comics when you only had to worry about the drawing part?
>>
>>3083472
I find it hard to believe that no one wants to die for One Piece. Oda is a lying hack.

I like Berserk style of storytelling, panels and attention to detail but I don't want to make a manga, I don't like japanese style drawing. Are there any books that can help me draw something like Berserk but at the same time retain my western style?

To be honest I don't know anything about comics in general, I just want to be a good storyteller and make nice pictures that go along with storytelling

What do you consider "berserk style of storytelling"?
>>
>>3080345
It's nothing special, what I meant is that I'd like to recreate the same form of storytelling as in Berserk, it's just I don't know its name. Maybe it is just a japanese comic, as I said, I am clueless about that stuff.

Did people on /ic/ use Airbrush for painting or drawing and what is the general opinion on this tool/technic.

i've tried it, i really liked some of the comics from the 90s that used it, dudge dredd in particular. wasn't really worth it, perhaps because i bought the cheapest chinesiest air brush
>>
I've played with it and didn't really like it. The amount of textures you can get from it is very limited as oppose to something like a brush, everything looks blurry except for the edges which then are very sharp. Changing colors is a bit of a hassle since you gotta clean it up each time and I like to move from one place to another frequently. Then you also got make a lot of stencils.
>>
>>3084729
I used to airbrush a lot, when I was starting out (pre-digital era). It's really unhealthy unless you wear the right air masks, and work in a spray book. Even watercolors. The day I stopped was the day I sneezed, and the kleenex was every color I'd used that day.

Airbrush has fallout out of use, except for model making, for that very reason. They banned it on our campus not soon after, along with aerosol glues.

Is it possible to make such mad art gains that you forget how to draw badly? Anyone experience this? Or is it just a meme?

You unintentionally make marks that shows you have knowledge in the areas you know. It takes a skill to draw like shit without giving it away if you're already good.
>>
>>3084481
Picasso was a hack.
>>
you can still produce garbage despite being skilled.

You need to improve your sence of anatomy. Look at the shape of the head. Look at the size of the skull compared to the rest of the body or even the face/eyes to the skull. The hair is shit. It looks like you're one of those fags that started with anime drawing because it was easier to use it as a crutch and ended up improving on details rather than the fundamentals which is now causing greater problems. You also probably should have posted this in the beginner thread or another similar thread rather than making your own thread for this shit doodle.
You do have potential though. The rest doesn't look too bad although unrefined. Study the basics and keep your nose to the sketchpad.

I want to make money with porn (fan)art. I drew this. How do I go about it ?
I thought about deviantart, but then i'd have to invest time in liking other pictures, writing comments and pretending, time which i'd rather spend drawing... any suggestions (besides patreon)?

learn to dress it up a bit better then start a blog with a commission section and shill for it heavily.
>>
>>3084296
what do you mean with "dress it up a bit better" ?
>>
>>3084297
you seem to have the basics down if you can churn those out over and over. give it a bit less subtlety, stronger backgrounds , flashiness, etc. remember you are appealing to degenerate normie scum.

I care not what is made of this.. I just wan't to put it out there for who ever needs :)

Why do so many people here fail at art?
Is it lack of effort?

Is it lack of talent?

does anyone have any good Wacom alternatives?
I hate how they practically have

specifically, I'd like to know a good substitute for a monitor tablet, a good one for a normal tablet pad so I can use it with my laptop, and a good to-go tablet
