I'm friends with a bunch of active drawfags, and i feel like im expected to do things or be just as productive as them.
But i'm not, I love drawing, i love to practice, but its becoming hard to have fun with it when it feels like im expected to do it, or im expected to show immediate improvement.
The pressure is making me nervous and i enjoy drawing less because of it.
please help
Stop drawing.
Nice blog. Liked and subscribed.
What are some nice podcasts about art and drawing in general?
I'm going through those:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtG4P3lq8RHH29KH3_kZF6EvQxB2k_AEa
I listen to them mostly while I'm walking, and I liked the Steve Huston and Vilppu one most.

Art Cafe is okay, I don't really like Maciej as a host but he gets some good guests. Dirty Sponge is good but there's very few episodes. I really like The Collective Podcast.
>>3079932
I hate Bobby's interviews desu. He gets lots of amazing guests but the questions are always weak and I don't think I've ever learned anything from any of the podcasts at all. Out of curiosity, what do you like about em?
Would you?

Would I what?
Would I!?
Would II.

when i looked into it a few years ago there wasn't a way apart from recording your desktop playing the video, i guess someone could have gotten past it by now though

I've recently been ripping videos from here in their highest quality. It's pretty simple and here's how.
Note: I would recommend for the sake of the hard work that all the people on there like Erik Olsen, Steve Huston, Rey Bustos and everyone else are doing, that you do not just share this shit with anyone. Keep it to yourself.
I'm using Chrome, should work with IE/FF more or less the same way.
1. Right-click on the video, and click on View Frame Source. You'll see a bunch of crazy nonsense shit.
2. Copy and paste the whole thing over at http://jsbeautifier.org/.
3. Now scroll down and you'll see various data blocks. Look for "quality: 1080p" or "quality: 720p" if it's an older video. Look for the "url" tag in the same block.
4. That's it. Paste the URL into your browser and it will play the video. You can right-click and say Save As....
Enjoy.
Let's talk about Charles H. Cecil's atelier, boys. Has any of you gone there? Apparently it's the go-to for the upcoming superstars of classical art, with the majority of students coming from wealthy families.
Unfortunately it will never happen for me, since I come from a humble
background. I'm currently at an atelier that was started by someone who was taught by Cecil, but I'm only here for a short course (three weeks). It's a little soul-crushing that I will return home again soon, in another country, to work a shitty job again, but now with the knowledge that only doing a course like this fulltime will make me grow into the artist I wish to be, and that I will never get to. I also don't know if I will ever again have the opportunity to return here. Maybe in a next life I can aspire to be more.
No offense homie, but 3600 euros a semester, for 3 years really isn't that bad.
The angel academy is 4000 euros i think a semester, and most ateliers are for 3 years.
That's around $40,000 in debt after 3 years, which really isn't that bad, you should be good enough to start making money at that point.
I'm going to the LDM in italy this fall and want to go to the angel academy next year. Just work and save up and get some loans.
>>3078858
I've heard some horror stories about the Angel 'round here. Not sure if those are fair however, but it was from different students. I would be able to cough up one semester but I would also have to pay for things like materials, rent, food... Florence isn't cheap. Good luck, I'd love to hear about your experience.
>>3078874
How bad were the stories? I think though to be honest you'll have kids who have bad experiences at every school.
I think an ataliers the way to go if you want a solid foundation, american art schools are so expensive you'll be broke unless you get a lot of grants or rich parents.
Sitting on 4chan looking at loomis books is how you waste precious time. I hope you manage to make it too though.

Post your current drawing here and provide helpful criticism and advice to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost it.

Hey. I just saw your face. It looks alotlike yourdrawing desu
if someone can do left from 90% of angles to a relative degree of competancy, what do they need to practice in order to be able to do right?
values, shading and rendering, making studies of those heads you want to draw like would be good too.
Faces on the right were drawn with refs. 99.9% sure.
I think detailed faces as that are insanely hard to achieve from imagination. A lot of subtlety goes into it. It leads to that soulless uncanny valley comic book hero style if you fall short.
Use refs, or memorize one face and angle a million times. Third option, stylize.
If we're not talking about drawing from imagination. Just get good at observing proportions and values (doing it a ton). You don't need to construct.
I've decided to buy books because I can't focus when reading pdfs on my pc. What books for fundamentals - especially construction, besides the ones in the sticky, does /ic/ stand by?
Hampton Figure Drawing
Robertson How to Draw
>>3082372
when you say construction do you mean form and perspective?
What's this style called?
What's the best way to emulate it?
I'll dump some more but youtube videos would be appreciated as well

Adobe Illustrator Tracing.
Are we supposed to create poses from memory or is it ok to rely on references?
You sketch out the poses that you think is good for your piece and if you can't flesh it our quite right, then use references.
>>3082161
If you are really really good and already have a good mental library, you`ll do it from your mind naturally
Until then, use references
Learn to construct the figure with basic 3D objects so you can construct any pose from any angle
what are some characters i should draw
I just go to these kind of threads, follow their instruction and look at the reference then never deliver to those threads because I'm still a beginner.

how do you mean?
I like playing fast and loose with things. Otherwise I'd say they're paintings about shoes and walls.
How's this ?
