How do you study an anatomy book? What do you do to remember all the shit?
I'm asking because I have issues remembering all the little details of muscle groups, and I'm unsure if it'd be advisable to grab a sketchbook and draw those muscle groups tons of times and recite their names like a mantra.
I've been using my anatomy references and charts whenever I'm tackling a drawing and begin lining out the muscles, but it feels more like a crutch than actual learning.

Don't bother learning anything except surface anatomy unless you are a science student or want to draw nothing except skeletons, muscles. I did anat in undergrad biomed and am doing it again as a medfag now, but it hasn't improved my ability to draw poses at all.
Best way to learn anatomy is to cram cards with image occlusion and multiple fields on anki, but artists don't need this shit. Just get two good anatomy atlases - Netters for reference and Rohen's for cadaver dissection and look them up as you go.

you don't need to know the names, don't worry so much about it, there are books called things like 'anatomy for the artist' which have the specific information you need as an artist. i went to medical school and there you literally fill notebook after notebook of sketches and latin learning anatomy, doing that for art would be silly.
i could probably find one of the notebooks and take a picture or two if you guys are curious.
so this...is the power....of making it....whoa
>tfw you'll never make this much money through your art
this is extra cash the guy makes on top of what he already got paid for drawing the comic in the first place. his fans are happy to buy a page for $200 atleast. he has a few going up to $2,500 (hasn't sold yet)
$300 is relatively average for original comic art by someone still living and with as generous an output as Ottley.
Being able to sell original art is a nice plus of drawing comics traditionally, especially if you're on lower page rates like I am ($100 per page).

post work
Thread 1: >>3078520
As the first thread had a good discussion going, besides the always present shitposters, I thought it would be cool to continue it here.
Anyway, I was wondering that it's possible that a good part of the pros actually don't know they're talented because they're inserted in environments full os successful people.
>>3086528
The answer is pretty simple. Regardless of how talent you are, you still have to work REALLY HARD to get good. The difference between someone who is talented and someone who isn't, is that the hard work actually pays off. So that's why when you ask someone talented how they got good they'll simply say "I worked hard".
>>3086528
talent + hardwork + social capital + marketing + good financial management/business sense = someone who can "make" it.
>>3086528
Talent is nothing but intelligence.
Don't kid yourself, if you can't do art right without having done it since childhood, you can't do anything right.
Hey can i get some critique on this sketch so far
pretty good gesture, nice clean readable silhouette, you'd do p good at storyboarding for cartoons
her left arm looks to be in front of her face
plates look like they are angled inwards
one plate is a cylinder while the other is smoothed
knees should be above feet. her right knee in particular makes it look like her knees are buckling together
looks like she is falling to her right because of this
>>3086158
it's shit
How about we have a draw a box thread where we go through all the lessons together? Every week or two we complete a lesson and post in a thread then critique each others work?
we already have a thread for that. its called beg
Literally Isis

I'm in. I was planning to start soon anyway
Hello /ic/, come join a casual chat server with art related discussion from time to time.
https://discord.gg/JTQtx6
Is there an official /ic/ discord?
Yeah this is it
>>3081707
yeah, it sucks ass. It's full of 1) shitters, and more importantly, 2) shitters giving advice. the only 4-5 people who know what they're doing aren't active enough to keep it worthwhile
What do you you lads think of my art?
Just got back from the pub and I just wondered what you lot thought of my my work.

I typically draw with pencil/pen to paper but lately ive been wanting to try get that clean anime look. However i realise maybe im not using the right software to clean up my artwork
Stop doing that chicken scratch shit man. Make more confident lines. Software doesn't have anything to do with it. Also, you should've posted in like the Alt Style thread or the Questions thread rather than making an entire new thread.
Is that what i fucking think it is..
Anyway, just develop your line confidence. Tracing other peoples lineart is a good way to practice hand and line control.
Draw lightly in pencil then trace confidently with pen or marker.
is it true that artists often have terrible handwriting?
yes now fuck off
That's just my style
>>3085364
If that's true I will be next Kim Jung Gi.
>Not born left-handed
>Literally will never make it
Being left handed isn't as good as you think it is OP. I can't draw straight lines for shit. Don't know why I even browse this board.
I'm left handed AMA
Can we ban all the fuckers using the wojak and pepe pictures? they're fucking retarded and they always make the most pointless threads.
Fuck off.
Anyone have reference pictures of rooms/interiors to share?
ITT artists that inspire you.
My boyfriend as a goblin...any suggestions are welcome, haven't shared with anyone yet. I worry no one will like it
Good enough for what?
Ahhh this thread i guess.... not sure if i should post in beginner or something.
>>3087135
Post in /beg/ instead. You'll get better advice there instead of pissing people of by needlessly making an entire thread for yourself.
Danny best girl
Stormborn
The Unburnt
got retards shitting another board, cool
Can somebody who knows how to draw acceptably recommend a good schedule?
I'm a little lost, I'm reanding Hampton's book, but there aren't any tips on how or how often to exercise (wich is a shame), thanks in advance
>>3086488
a good schedule is to draw whenever you have time. People that are considered talented just draw in the time that others play vidya
>>3086531
Thanks, tought so, but I still have problems on how to train, I mean, in fitness you have a list of exercises, in art?
I also just started doing Hampton's book and I do like one part of the body a day for a few hours concurrently with the same bones in Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist which has a bit more info to supplement with. Yesterday was the arms bones, today the head. I think this is working alright for me.
