Venezuela probably.
Tens of trillions of natural resources (oil, gas, iron, copper, you name it), ocean access, can trade with North, Central and South America (which produce and need different shit), can long term trade with Europe and Africa, or colonize Africa, big lakes, big river system for internal trade, mountains, jungle and coast for borders, huge beautiful delta for farming, valleys for farming, natural corn, potatoes, tobacco, etc useful plants growing wild there, climate is top tier all year every year, its basically the #1 premium location.
Only ones that I think can compete are Indus Valley, Mesopotamia river system, and North Egypt, but these are more vulnerable to attack (they have good locations near them, thus competition) and have a harder time colonizing the shitty locations in the future when the tech difference is high.

Did we lose in Vietnam?
>>3100766
No you just failed to achieve all your strategic and political goals.
>>3100766
Who are "we"
>>3100766
We killed a shit-ton of Communists/Vietnamese, personally I call that a win. Formally however, that is up to debate. Since we failed to have any meaningful effect and since the south fell anyways. All we did was get a bunch of our young men killed for no real reason. We also created a generation of liberals, take that as you will.

>On August 4, 1968, Mao was presented with some mangoes by the Pakistani foreign minister, Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, in an apparent diplomatic gesture
>One of the mangoes was sent to the Beijing Textile Factory, whose revolutionary committee organised a rally in the mangoes' honour. Workers read out quotations from Mao and celebrated the gift. Altars were erected to prominently display the fruit; when the mango peel began to rot after a few days, the fruit was peeled and boiled in a pot of water. Workers then filed by and each was given a spoonful of mango water. The revolutionary committee also made a wax replica of the mango, and displayed this as a centrepiece in the factory.
>More replica mangoes were created and the replicas were sent on tour around Beijing and elsewhere in China. Many revolutionary committees visited the mangoes in Beijing from outlying provinces; approximately half a million people greeted the replicas when they arrived in Chengdu. Badges and wall posters featuring the mangoes and Mao were produced in the millions. The fruit was shared among all institutions that had been a part of the propaganda team, and large processions were organised in support of the zhengui lipin ("precious gift"), as the mangoes were known as. One dentist in a small village compared a mango to a sweet potato; he was put on trial for malicious slander and executed.

I hate Mao.
I'm getting really into the " pre flood world "
I am a christian and have read they bible many times and am also reading the book of Enoch. Stories about the Nephalim and fallen ones are very intriguing. What do you think about this topic.?
I also watch alot of Rob Skiba stuff. Hes got alot to say.
>>3107726
They were drowned for a reason. Don't forget that.
The world used to have a canopy of water above the sky that protected us from the sun, increased the barometric pressure, and increased the oxygen content. Such conditions provided for very long lives, and very large produce. Everyone ate vegetation, nothing ate meat, and the world was far more fertile then than now.
And while the Book of Enoch was named after the seventh son of Adam, it is in no way written by him. In fact, in quoting a passage from the Book of Enoch, many argued that the book of Jude should not be in the bible.
what passage from Jude was said from Enoch.? That's pretty crazy. All the things you said about the dome of water and pre flood enviroment, i truly believe happened
To me it was the

Why is everyone suddenly scared of Artificial Intelligence?
>>3106593
Basically, technological singularity. A point in mathematical projection which no human can compute and everything can happen. The strong IA can be friendly or hostile, there's no certainty.

because mass hysteria and monkeys jumping at shadows.
better to be slightly on edge because that shadow might be a leopard than relaxed when that shadow is a leopard.
also: the devil makes work for idle hands.
Why is it so rare to find a historically accurate video game?
Take this fantasy armour from "Ryse: Son of Rome"
>why aren't commercial products aimed at a pop audience historically accurate
Really jogs the noggin
>>3106570
What's historically inaccurate about this armor?
Because history can be uncool and you only want cool shit in your game / movie
So in all depictions of the beowulf story I've seen there was mention of christianity.
So that would mean that christianity would be known in scandinavia atleast from the early 6th century and probably there would be a few scandinavian christians.
Would it be accurate to say that there were christian vikings before the large scale conversion efforts started during the viking age?
>>3106139
Oringanlly it was a pre-chistian oral poem, but it was later written in english by chritstian monks who made some changes to make it more palatable to christians.
>>3106155
So in the official story there wouldn't be any christians?
But even then would the scandinavians of late antiquity/ early early middle ages know about christianity or would they first find it during the viking age?

Why does everybody hate post-modernism?
Isn't it a noble goal to question how society is run?
>>3105860
Question how society is run and experimenting with various things is one thing, subverting everything for the sake of appearing intellignet is another.
>>3105860
I just really hate her face.
>>3105860
First of all, Sarkeesian is a con artist and use the #feminism trend as a tool only for loads of money, she could not care less about society. Numerous feminist and academics exposed her already. There's nothing post-modern about taking advantage of stupid people in order to obtain money, it's old fashioned as it can be.
Second, post-modernism is a stupid term, in the sense that it's one academic division, being vague, biased and tendentious. The term implies nothing (important) happened after Modernism, and every single movement afterwards can be mashed into the same category.
Reading History in academic terms is stupid by itself, but classifying it entirely on academic terms is just retarded. Numerous artists talked about it already, and they usually also hate the term.
Why did the Nationalists lose and under what conditions could the Nationalists have won the Chinese Civil War?
>>3105774
1) The nationalists were more damaged by WWII than the communists were.
2) After Stalin overran then-Japanese Manchuria, he gave it to Mao and the Communists for them to use.
Had they won, China would be a first world country today.
>>3105774

They got a better kill count but thats it.
The morale victory at home cost them big time.
Serves them right for faking the gulf of Tonkin attack
>it's another 'Nazi Germany could have won the war if only they did x' thread
>>3105514
Militarily and Technically they did not lose the Vietnam Conflict (Wasn't an official war to the US).
Due to them failing to uphold their strategic goal after obtaining peace they did lose.
What do you call this kind of defeat? You won the treaty and the military fights, but after you pull out and someone breaks the treaty and annexes what you use to defend, but you don't jump back in to honor your agreement?
