How are muslim women oppressed? Does freedom mean something different in the middle east?
>>586355
As of now western muslim women aren't totally oppressed ( I would argue they are brainwashed ) But in every third world shithole run by Islam, they definitely are.
Abrahamic religions are clearly misogynistic.
While a Muslim woman in the West can claim that she is wearing the niqab or hijab voluntarily, it is clearly a symbol of the patriarchal need of that culture to control and subordinate women.
>>586355
> woman says she likes western culture and patriarchy is bullshit
> internalized patriarchy, brainwashed, conservative
> woman says she likes Islam and Arab culture
> wow, true feminist, so brave, please respect her being beaten and rights taken away
Is taoism the real conclusion to buddhism? Going back to ordinary life and going with the flow?
>>586805
More like Taoism being one of many precursors to Christianity
>>586816
I don't see the connection in terms of actual doctrine.
>>586824
There isn't, some Christians have just misunderstood the Tao as being the same as the Logos.
In the first christian communities it was a requirement to be Jewish. When did this change? When did they abandon this archaic teaching and turn to the true teachings of Christ that allow ANYONE to become a Christian. What early community accurately followed Christ's example?

Why is America so proud of their social mobility?
And why is it so inferior to almost all other civilized countries?
oops, just realized I posted on wrong board, but for some reason I can't delete it.
>>586609
>Why is America so proud of their social mobility?
Historically, it has had a very high degree of social mobility throughout its history. Only recently has it begun to fall behind.
>And why is it so inferior to almost all other civilized countries?
Because it's based on early 19th century knowledge of the economy that isn't really feasible anymore. Globalization meant the slow down of American internal markets, as less money and jobs go to "American" companies and more goes overseas to markets in Asia and South America.
Wages have stagnated precisely because of this reason.
>>586609
Also
>civilized countries
What the fuck does that even mean nowadays? Almost every country on earth is a multiparty democracy, be them flawed or not.
What are the arguments and logic for the reasoning of unitedness and cooperation behind the ideologies of various pan-ethnic movements, for example Pan-Celticism, Pan-Slavism, Altayic movement, Native Americans in the Americas? How did they sell the idea of uniting various different and separate ethnic groups into loosely defined bigger units?
Also, pan-ethnic movements in general. What are the more unheard ones and what are their ideology's like?
Sauce, essay's, analyses would be greatly appreciated

Cause if it worked for Germans or Italians, why not give it a try?

I'd argue it was as simple as one culture thinking it's superior to others, and in so conquered the other ones. Then through decades of obedience their cultures merged into one another in some way.
I've started reading the Bible and I got to the part where Noah cursed Canaan to slavery.
Is there any actual reason why he did this of was he just a huge douchebag?
Pls no fedora answers
>>586390
I think it's one of those things where the "Israelites" (Canaanites who started a religion centered around Yahweh) had to explain the situation they were in and didn't have a great justification to conquer land from other Canaanites other than "well they come from bad seed, its our duty, its land promised to us" etc etc
Not to just be a dick, but to JUSTIFY being a dick.

If you believe the biblical narrative, Ham and Caanan rape Noah when he's drunk, so yeah.

Any occultists on this board?
Care to share your knowledge?
If only there was a specific board for occult and paranormal stuff...
Occult as in spooky /x/ tier succubus summoning shit, or the study of Hermeticism, Alchemy etc?
I think it's best when it's the latter -- you can apply the principles of Alchemy in a self-improvement style.
It's a shame many on /x/ don't know what a metaphor is.

The guy was sued for fraud.
His mother's letters goes on about how he entertained the family with wild stories.
He is pretty much a confirmed con artist.
Like most of the 1800s farmers suffering from low food prices due to fast past urbanization through the American Market Revolution.
There were dozens and dozens of guys claiming to be prophets during this time, creating communes. Robert Matthias for example.
Hugh Nibley seemed like a bretty cool guy...
Despite my skepticism, the portion (I watched the first 5 I think) of this 29-part lecture that I watched was actually pretty interesting... camera work's a bit shabby though. I suggest it for anyone who for whatever reason wants to understand what is inside the Book of Mormon.

Hey /his/. I was thinking about learning an ancient language that isn't Latin or Greek.
You have any suggestions?

What other ancient languages have big enough corpus to justify it? Some kind of Chinese or Sanskrit maybe.

Thanks, Scipio, we could have been exploring the galaxy right now.

Are they ancient?
