Why is Rasputin looked upon negatively?
>>583742
What positives does he have other than a 13 inch dick
He is generally seen as a manipulator for his alleged pulling of the strings, even were it were only true to a lesser extent.
Also, the aristocracy saw him as an uppity strannik, who more or less invaded the top class.
>>583742
He's weird, scary, psychopathic and smart and completely unapologetic about any of those characteristics!
Men with this combination qualities does not make for good drinking buddies, anon! Besides, you definitely wouldn't want to leave your significant other alone with people like this!
Hi lads,
There was a Zoroastrianism thread a couple of days ago asking what it meant to be Zoroastrian. Someone had written several sentences that I completely forgot to save.. It included something about gluttony and just general values. It was pretty well written. Does anyone remember what it was?
Are you talking about this?
To ride, shoot straight and speak the truth
Moderation in worldly pleasures, both celibacy and lechery, gluttony and temperance is not encouraged
Charity and love for all human beings
Industry and honest toil
Forgiveness, mercy and tolerance
Arrogance, greed, petty quarrels, wrath and jealousy are discouraged
>>583719
Holy fuck you're amazing. Thanks chum
>>583719
Is there sauce for that BTW?
Isn't the "ugh there ain't no objective morals there's no god what do" existential crisis just puerile? If you can't even accept morals as an historical ideological product or a tacit pact for coexistance, I agree you should kill yourself.
The "shiet life is real boring and tasteless" crisis is much deeper imo
Deriving your morality from dumb shit like cathegorical imperative is just as dumb.
Morals are simply humans being able to coexist and advance society. I'm not being reductionist; if we had no morals, there would be no cohesiveness, and thus no advancement.
I don't see what's so hard to understand. It's an evolutionary trait. Humans work better together, as simple as that. Nihilism is just a product of not needing to work to live 24/7 so we have time to actually reflect on how insignificant we are. We still eat, fuck and shit like all other beings, so we've just constructed "morals" because we have the capacity to do so.
>>583627
That's the main reason why religious, moral and legal laws are accepted buddy
Can overpopulation be an issue on heaven?
no
cuz heaven doesn't exist :^)

Yes, have fun double-bunking with a medieval priest who is angry because he castrated himself and gave every hour of his long life in service to god and you fapped to anime your whole life but got in because you got dunked in water as a baby and asked for forgiveness.
>>584879
there is no reason to be upset
Has there ever been a truly three-sided war? My wife's son wanted to know.
Pic unrelated.
>>583482
>My wife's son wanted to know

this is the part we're supposed to call him a cuck haha
>>583482
Hahahaha get a load of this faggot not knowing that
>WW 1 was "1-sided"
>WW 2 was "2-sided"
>And world war three already is in the making while hes thinking about raising another womans child.
The key to understanding ones place in the world is understanding the signs in our history
Syria now.
Is it ethical to have children if you're not happy with your genetics and social class?
Yes, hence why you need to upgrade your social class and genetics by getting a good spouse.
Unless you're a serf, you at least have the prospect of improving your social class.
>>583396
>implying
Serfs could just go away and they wouldn't be serfs anymore.
At least, in western Europe it was like that. If you were living in eastern Europe then you were just a slave.
My English teacher said today that France got squashed in both the First and Second World Wars. I argued against him about that for a bit, but now that I think about it, they did lose at Verdun.
What does /his/ think? Did France 'lose' the First World War, even though the Énténte Powers won overall?
>>583224
>they did lose at Verdun
???
They won, but lost so many men that the UK took over the leading role in the Entente.
>>583224
No, they won.
They started badly, but they contributed to the final victory more than Russia, the US and the british empire.
>>583307
Can you provide relative information? I'm curious
What happened to Argentina?
British imperialism.
>>583109
>Carlos Meném destroyed those railways.
Wasn't he the president who helped Iran bomb a Jewish centre?
Does anyone have any good info on the Protestant Reformation in Iberia and/or Portuguese and Spanish settlers in North America? It's sort of a genealogical query for me.I have this ancestor named Domingo Mederios (later family spelling Maderas, Maderio, Medeares, etc.). He lived in Virginia in the 1600's, but no one knows anything before that. His neighbors in the area he lived in seem to be mostly French and Dutch Protestants so we assume he came over with them, so maybe he was from the Spanish Netherlands. Mederios is a Portuguese name meaning "wooded place" but maybe he was a Spaniard of distant Portuguese ancestry.
He's recorded as being kind of well off, owning 3,000 acres for cattle ranching and tobacco and he imported some indentured servants, but his estate mostly went away when his heirs couldn't maintain it. I don't know if his good fortune was a result of coming to the colonies or if he already had money to set up shop when he came here. So in short I guess my questions are, aside from if there are any good sources on the history of Protestants in Portugal and Spain, was Protestantism at all popular among the Spaniards in the Netherlands (were there even that many there or was it just part of the Hapsburg empire?) or alternatively, was it at all common for Iberians from Brazil or the Caribbean to for whatever reason decide to try their luck in the British colonies up north? Though I figure they'd be more inclined to find somewhere Catholic like Louisiana to settle if that were there case. I'd ask these on a genealogy forum instead but while those people are good for asking about records and naming customs and that sort of thing, it's harder to find people knowledgeable about the overall historical circumstances. Thanks.
Those countries (Portugal and Spain) had very little Protestanism. Not saying it was impossible, but it was very unlikely.
It's much more likely that your ancestor was a regular Alberto Barbosa who just decided to try his luck in the States.
t. portuguese who had ancestors living in the USA then came back with gold
>>583042
>t. Alberto Barbosa
>>583042
Basically some Protestants existed in Iberia. However, these Protestants did not expect the Spanish Inquisition. This, paired with the Counter Reformation and historically staunch Catholicism in Iberia, removed all signs of Protestantism.
Can we have an interesting historical photograph thread?
I will start with a bunch of photos from the fall of the Soviet Union

You must post at least two images

Is there any historical relevance to Tarot cards? Any examples of significant people relying on them?
>>582685
IV Emperor was the Holy Roman Emperor
V the Hierophant was the Pope
XII Hanged man was Odin
Those are the easy ones.
>>582727
what are the hard ones?
>>582685
They're a card game going back to around the 15th century. All the magic divination stuff was added later.
ITT: /lawful good/ historical persons. Starting with an obvious one.

Post strange facts
>>582598
As well as Ancient Greeks and Byzantines
>>582598
You fogot the Greeks who still dwell around.

Japanese, Chinese lived here alongside natives.
The early Spanish colonial army here consisted of just few thousand Europeans, another few thousand Japanese exile soldiers, Christian Chinese marines & sailors, and majority native warriors who were still armed in their local gear but had Spanish Coat of Arms/Crosses all over their shit.
Spic had-for a short time- Samurai and Kung Fu cunts under its command.
>You will never save Europe from the Turkish hordes
>You will never be declared the savior of Christianity by the Pope himself
>You will never become the mortal enemy of the Ottoman Turks to the point that they give him a badass nickname
>You will never participate in the largest cavalry charge in history
>You will never get betrayed upon death and have your country is carved up by the "allies" you had sworn to protect
Feels bad desu
How is it that Eastern Europe is populated by these ridiculous circus - tier nationalists?
>Albanians
>every scientist, general, artist etc ever was Albanian
>Hitler himself called Albanians the master race
>we wuz kings of half the ancient world
You can apply the same logic to Serbs, Croats, Bulgarians, Hungarians, almost everyone in the region.
