ITT: we rage at stupid people who didn't learn history.

>he's got a baseball, with "Martin Luther's" autograph.
>no, no MLK. He's claiming it was signed by Protestant Reformation Martin Luther. When I picked it up, vendor man starts talking about a good choice and the Theses.

Seriously. Who the fuck would make that? How could he think ANYONE would fall for it? The sorts of people who give a damn enough to want Luther's signature would know he never signed a baseball.

The table on the right follows a numbered list
order:

.first

.second
..first

..third
and so on.

It appears to be a mixture of old norse and old irish. c. 1600. About the time of the invention of the flintlock c 1610-1630 which correlates to the carbon dating of the ms.

This is the transcription for the page althoug possibly inaccurate.
voynich. nu /q08/ f066r_tr.txt

The picture here is what appears to be "three" or "third" lit. "ter" in ms.

Thre, Thrie, Three, num. Also: threi, thri, thry, threa, (threif), tre, tra.
ME and e.m.E.
þri (a1175)
þre (Orm)
thre

tre (all Cursor M.)
three (Wyclif)
treye (Chaucer)
OE þrí (þríe)
þrío
þréo
ON þrír

The cardinal number three, qualifying a noun.
As part of a larger number. Cf. Threscore num.
Twa-thre, twa or thre, see Twa num. (= an indefinite small number, a few).
Put for the ordinal number. Thrid adj.

It appears to be a shorthand for third.

What does /his/ think about the DeFeo Massacre and later the Amityville Horror hauntings that took place in the house (after which the famous books and movies are based on), given that the couple who lived in the house and reported paranormal activity after the massacre passed lie detectors?

What are /his/'s theories on what happened that day, how did Ronald DeFeo carry out the murder (no signs of struggle on the victims, all in the same position and he used a loud as fuck gun too) and what made Ronald DeFeo kill? Was it really "the Devil" that made him do it as he said or was it tension in the family, incestual thoughts towards his sister perhaps?

Share your thoughts /his/, let's crack this shit open and set the spirits finally free from the eternal unsolved "curse".

"Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach (1938-1986) was a German heir and the last member of the Krupp dynasty."

"He died 399 years after the arrival of his namesake Arndt Krupp, the founder of the Krupp family, in Essen in 1587."

"My father sacrificed his life for work and died a twice-divorced, depressed billionaire. I'm not like him, and I was not interested in his business."

"Arndt is hardly suffering for his decision. At 28, he began to receive an allowance of $250,000 a year. That figure doubled when his father, Alfried, died a year later. After Arndt spurned a career with the firm, the senior Krupp willed his personal $3.5 billion fortune to a German philanthropic foundation and created a private income for his high-living son, who Alfried knew would never work. In addition to his allowance, Arndt receives a 2.5 percent royalty on each ton of coal produced by a former Krupp mine, plus a percentage of the profits from family-owned supermarkets and hotels in Munich and worldwide real estate holdings."

Why is this allowed?

Hey /his/,
I have a question about the difference between shia and sunni muslims. What are the practical differences between the two. I don't mean like political stuff about succesion of Mohammad.
I mean like do they pray differently or is their quran different or something?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Qur'an is the same, but they accept different hadith (stories about muhammad and his companions) as true; as for theology, the main difference is that shi'a believe in imams (although, which individuals have been imams is a subject of debate among different sects), men related to muhamad who have been ordained by allah to lead the community, most shi'a sects (that is, aside from zaidis) treat imams as infallible and think of them as just short of being equal in status to muhammad.
Meanwhile, sunnis consider that to be heresy of ascribing partners to god, as only he is infallible according to them.

There are of course other differences, probably including how they pray (I'm not an expert, so I'll leave that alone), but those are relatively minor

Is it possible to be a Christian and still be a good person?

If you take the "good deeds" side of Christian "morality" then you are just being decent for rewards.

If you take the "through faith alone" side then you think Hitler could kill millions of people and then get to Magicplace when he died through just saying sorry and finding faith on his deathbed.

Clearly Christianity makes it impossible to be a decent person.

I think it has its mistakes. Like fapping or related is bad. Which actually makes it impossible to have a nice spiritual house in peace or (far) worse.

Such crisis that is hardly spoken about really.

Salvation is not found by confessing words or beating your chest. It's not found in an altar call. It's found by lifelong metanoia.

It's found over time, through both good deeds and right faith. The fathers of the church have always affirmed this, eastern and western. Synergism is our path, not monergism. God is all merciful, but he requires our cooperation, he is no sky-hitler.

Nihilism is ultimately self-refuting. That we are beings that are birthed from this nothingness and simultaneously so appalled by it as a state of affairs says much about the true, paradoxical nature of reality.

That true meaning and affirmation can only come out of the discarding of conventional and naive meaning is very curious.

Nothingness cannot despair over being Nothingness if it was not also Something.

>Nothingness cannot despair over being Nothingness if it was not also Something.

That doesn't follow. People despair about not being things they aren't all the fucking time. Are they actually all of those things? Does a guy who despairs about not having a big dick actually have a big dick?
>>
>>1444355
Non-being cannot despair over non-being.

We aren't speaking of wealth or possessions, but the status of existence itself. What doesn't follow is a random, accidental universe of absolute meaninglessness nonetheless loathing its own meaninglessness (through consciousness). It follows that in man is a principle that cannot be subject to non-being precisely because it rejects non-being. That capacity for rejection cannot issue forth from non-being.

Two questions
1. Did he do more right or wrong to the US and based on what?
2. Besides campaign slogan, can he and the current Republican nominee whose name I won't use to avoid meme hour be considered comparable, ideologically or in some other way? I just mean to compare, not argue whether politics are right or wrong.

Basically everything he did was cancer except for the one thing that was the single most important decision he made.

He decided that the Soviet Union was weak, and that a final confrontation could push them over the edge without starting a war.

This is a view that no professional in foreign policy or intelligence held, and no reasonable person would have predicted, but it turned out to be totally correct.

So it's difficult to criticize him too badly for being an awful human being, and inflicting like 8 different kinds of AIDS and cancer on America.
