>"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

why do americans seem to ignore/not care about the (long) history of foreign interventions of their govt?

also, why do americans seem to be so pro-military/militarism? I mean, I'm not anti-military, but they kinda are the other extreme. can someone explain this to me?

What I don't get is why the pretend to be anything but what has been said a million times over.

It's of no consequence, I don't care if America is invading the world in search of oil and resources, we need that shit, take it.

What I don't get is why the constantly lie and us e modern propaganda and freedoms as an excuse to achieve their goals. People then actually buy into the propaganda.

That's the most bizzare thing in my mind. I really wish I was American I can experience this, i dunno, ideology? First hand.

It means there's nothing that can be done regarding their presence in Anatolia after the fall of Constantinople (and by extension the previous battles and sackings that made them prevalent and weakened the byzantine empire). The majority (even nowadays) is uneducated, vastly nationalistic and will defend their country with violence at all costs, reproduces fast and has overrun any other non-Turkish demographic in the area over time, with the cherry being the population exchange with Greece (a lot of time after Napoleon, but still relevant for a modern-day equivalent of the quote) that essentially removed Western cultural influence and presence in Anatolia.

Since the demographics are in their favor over such a large and highly populated area, coupled with the certain bloody hivemind mindset that Turks harbor, you can never conquer them in their entirety, or in other words, nobody is willing to sacrifice all that is necessary to remove them from the region.

When and why did it become acceptable to be a fat pig in modern Western society? Is it linked to some movement, or did it arise on its own vanity?
28 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>1597431

Two reasons:

1) People of power tend to be fat pigs
2) Fat acceptance on the common tier to emulate the fat pigs in politics
>>
Being fat shows you have access to plenty of calories which means you must be wealthy.

>>

Because no one cares anymore. Its so common in society, that nobody thinks about changing it because they don't think. In order for change to happen, you have to get the average man to realize change must be done.

Were Hammurabis laws the best laws?
§ 8 – If any one steal cattle or sheep, or an ass, or a pig or a goat, if it belong to a god or to the court, the thief shall pay thirtyfold therefor; if they belonged to a freed man of the king he shall pay tenfold; if the thief has nothing with which to pay he shall be put to death.
§ 21 – If a man make a breach in a house, they shall put him to death in front of that breach and they shall thrust him therein.
§ 55 – If a man open his canal for irrigation and neglect it and the water carry away an adjacent field, he shall measure out grain on the basis of the adjacent fields.
§ 59 – If a man cut down a tree in a man's orchard, without the consent of the owner of the orchard, he shall pay one-half mina of silver.
§ 168 – If a man set his face to disinherit his son and say to the judges: "I will disinherit my son," the judges shall inquire into his antecedents, and if the son have not committed a crime sufficiently grave to cut him off from sonship, the father may not cut off his son from sonship.
§ 169 – If he have committed a crime against his father sufficiently grave to cut him off from sonship, they shall condone his first (offense). If he commit a crime a second time, the father may cut off his son from sonship.
§ 195 – If a son strike his father, they shall cut off his fingers.

If one knock out a tooth of a freeman, he shall pay one-third mana of silver.

nope, even older Urnamus laws were superior, without vindictive semitic tradition, eg for an eye you only payed fine to the injured.
>>
>>1597128
Before the Hammurabi Code, the penalty for putting out an eye was death.
