So, what caused St. Pio's stigmata?

Very likely he did them himself, with acid.

During his lifetime there were lots of priests who doubted him. Some produced testimonies and documents exposing him. Everyone was silenced by the Vatican, since the Church under John Paul II turned into mass production of saints.

So Atheists of /his/, do you guys agree with us Catholics when we refute that it's retarded for a Protestant Christian to call Catholicsim repurposed Babylonian paganism when their cute little "reformed true church" is historically an offshoot of ours and if we are pagan then so are they?

Yes I kno you still think it's retarded fiction either way, but you've gotta at least side with us on that front with twats who actually believe shit like pic related. Especially with how pic related is bullshit even when it comes to Babylonian mythology.

Catholicism isn't an extension of Babylonian paganism, it's an extension of Roman/Hellenistic paganism. Seems like Catholics try as hard as they can to deny this, as hard as Protestants deny that the early Christians clearly engaged in these practices.

How would you define genius? Is a genius simply someone who has a very high I.Q? Would a person who has an average I.Q but has breathtakingly original thoughts be considered a genius? Is a genius someone who revolutionises our way of thinking?

>>
I guess I would define it as having an extremely high IQ. However, that does not mean "geniuses" are intelligent in every day matters or are well-informed in every area. Albert Einstein for example considered himself a socialist while the average 100 IQ redneck would be able to refute every one of his economic/political arguments
>>
>he correct scale for adjusting the hierarchy of intelligences is furnished by the degree in which the mind takes merely individual or approaches universal views of things. The brute recognizes only the individual as such: its comprehension does not extend beyond the limits of the individual. But man reduces the individual to the general; herein lies the exercise of his reason; and the higher his intelligence reaches, the nearer do his general ideas approach the point at which they become universal.

-Arty Schopenhauer

>For him who can understand aright ...the relation between the genius and the normal man may, perhaps, be best expressed as follows: A genius has a double intellect, one for himself and the service of his will; the other for the world, of which he becomes the mirror, in virtue of his purely objective attitude towards it. The work of art or poetry or philosophy produced by the genius is simply the result, or quintessence, of this contemplative attitude, elaborated according to certain technical rules.
The normal man, on the other hand, has only a single intellect, which may be called subjective by contrast with the objective intellect of genius. However acute this subjective intellect may be — and it exists in very various degrees of perfection — it is never on the same level with the double intellect of genius; just as the open chest notes of the human voice, however high, are essentially different from the falsetto notes. These, like the two upper octaves of the flute and the harmonics of the violin, are produced by the column of air dividing itself into two vibrating halves, with a node between them; while the open chest notes of the human voice and the lower octave of the flute are produced by the undivided column of air vibrating as a whole. This illustration may help the reader to understand that specific peculiarity of genius which is unmistakably stamped on the works, and even on the physiognomy, of him who is gifted with it.

How accurate is this psychopath evaluation of a selection of leaders throughout history carried out by researchers at Oxford University?

1) Saddam Hussein - 189
2) Henry VIII - 178
3) Idi Amin - 176
4) Donald Trump - 171
5) Adolf Hitler - 169
6) William the Conqueror - 165
7) Saint Paul - 157
8) Jesus - 157
9) Winston Churchill - 155
10) Napoleon Bonaparte - 153
11) Hillary Clinton - 152
12) Emperor Nero - 151
13) Oliver Cromwell - 136
14) Margaret Thatcher - 136
15) George Washington - 132

I don't think that is too accurate considering some of those people like Paul and Jesus barely have any personality traits written down about them besides love. The large majority of that list is not even people with psycopathic traits, just using words to judge someone's personality is very flawed
>>
>>1601383
Inaccurate, most demonstrated close feelings to loved ones and their sociopathic behavior can be attributed to run of the mill dehumanization of those outside your inner circle which most normies are perfectly capable of. I also notice a distinct lack of some of the most notable 20th century dictators of a certain political persuasion.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but when did Monarchs stop being glorified warlords who often led their men in battle and start being so 'prim & proper', ceremonial, royal majesty types.

I'm reading the lyrics to the French Royal Anthem and its got lines like

>This rowdy devil
>With the three talents
>Of drinking, fighting
>And womanising

Which seems TOTALLY out of line for the... 'dignity' of later monarchs/

Gradually from 13th century onwards.

You always had a struggle between the monarch and the people (read: Wealthy nobles, not the peasants)

In the early and high middle ages, a country was successful if it had a strong, all powerful king who could keep the nobles in line, he dominated, he led his country, and it was a success. Power was maintained through actual power, be it political skill or military skill, not really through law. The best and greatest example of this would be Henry II of England. This Angevin empire was held together because of him alone, it fell apart soon after. This was the entire of the power kings, after this the nobles want not necessarily more power but not fairness and rights. This is where parliaments begin to be birthed and over the next few centuries the power of monarchs is chipped away, we stop seeing kings take part in battles and directly rule their land and see them more being figure heads and general guiders.

Why did parents stop teaching their children languages and humanities?

It seems like kids don't know a thing about history until grade school. And, since everyone goes to public school, Bible stories aren't taught and Greek mythology isn't touched on until high school?

What happened to the sophistication of Western society?

there was a push for STEM fields because its what we needed for much of US history and it "made money"
>>
because most parents are filthy dumb mouth-breathing morons
>>
>>1601167
Because we now have a vocational view of education. You see this, at least in the US, when the topic of high school education reform comes up. One of the most common complaints is that much of the classes a student spends their time in have nothing to do with their future job. Whether or not this is correct, it shows a value-shift towards practical and lucrative skills rather than any higher minded learning.

The reason this attitude is so prominent is probably worthy of a PHD dissertation. I mean it arguably stems back to the industrial revolution. Not to mention some of the post world war mentality.

What were the people called that lived in the middle east before the Arab Islamic conquest?

Why are these people still called Arabs today?
17 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>1601009
They still exist, they are just culturally Arabized natives.

For example, the Palestinians are genetically closer to Cypriots than to gulf arabs.

The arabs didn't really go in for full-scale colonization (except in Egypt). They usually just kicked over the native leadership, converted the people and smeared on a new ruling class
>>
>>1601018

Did these people vary much in looks, like you would see in a southern Italian and a Dane?

Basically everyone refers to them as "Arabs" now, despite not being from the gulf.

They looked like they do now. So called "Arabs" actually have a very diverse set of phenotypes based on region. The only thing that unites them is language (which also varies a lot by region) and religion.

>The incident demonstrated the weakness of the NATO alliance in its lack of planning and co-operation beyond the European stage.

>From the point of view of General de Gaulle, the Suez events demonstrated to France that it could not rely on its allies; the British had initiated a ceasefire in the midst of the battle without consulting the French, while the Americans had opposed Paris politically. The damage to the ties between Paris and Washington D.C. "culminated in President de Gaulle's 1966 decision to withdraw from the military integration of NATO".[360]
