Were the Japanese baited into attacking Pearl Harbor? How accepted is this conspiracy theory in modern historical teaching, and what do you think? I don't know much, just a pleb in search of wisdom.

>Were the Japanese baited into attacking Pearl Harbor
No.

>How accepted is this conspiracy theory in modern historical teaching
It's considered fringe tier conspiracy theory. The supposed "records" come from interviews about NARA records that do not nor have they ever existed.

>what do you think?
That when the Jap fleet went silent the US government knew that SOMETHING was going to be attacked but they didn't know where. They definitely didn't think it was going to be everything on the menu. This is pretty much the historical consensus at this point.
>>
>>1713376
>Were the Japanese baited into attacking Pearl Harbor?
Nope. Japan was ruled by warhawks at the time. They already launched stupid wars that hyperstretched their forces.
>How accepted is this conspiracy theory in modern historical teaching,
The fact that you call it a conspiracy theory shows how much it is accepted.
>>
I don't think it was "baited", so much as a foregone conclusion that FDR's various attempts at denying oil to Japan would inevitably result in war.

Also IIRC FDR did some really lawyeristic manipulation of the Neutrality Acts, where basically the US was allowed to trade with Britain and France (as they had superior merchant fleets to Germany), but Japan couldn't do the same (because the Japanese merchant fleet was superior to the practically nonexistent Chinese one)

Why are Judaism, Islam and Christianity considered different religions? Shouldn't the latter two just be considered Judaic heresies? They all worship the same god, they just disagree about the prophets and which doctrine to accept; isn't that basically just heresy?

>Why are Judaism, Islam and Christianity considered different religions?

BECAUSE THEY ARE THREE DIFFERENT RELIGIONS.

>Shouldn't the latter two just be considered Judaic heresies?

NO.

>They all worship the same god, they just disagree about the prophets and which doctrine to accept...

NO; JUDAICS WORSHIP YHWH/JUPITER, AND THE DEMIOURGOS IALDABAOTH; MOHAMMEDANS WORSHIP ALLAH/SATURN; CHRISTIANS WORSHIP GOD.

"Judaism", as the term is used today, means an off-shoot of Phariseeism based on the Talmud (written a few hundred years after Christ).

PS he died in 1946 and Donald Trump was born in 1946 so that means Donald Trump is the reincarnation of Benito Mussolini. Also he's the reincarnation of Geirge S. Patton who in turn was the reincarnation of various soldiers across history.

Why did the 18th Century revolutionary republics (USA, France) adopt blue as their uniform color?
13 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>1712563

Uniforms in those days were not for camouflage. In fact, it was the opposite. The point of the uniform was to make sure that you didn't get mistaken for the enemy. So who were these groups fighting? Britain. And Britain used red. Blue contrasts nicely against red. So there you have it.
>>
>>1712563
Kingdom of France, later French republic continued with blue was always represented by colours blue and white.

The reason Americans used similar uniforms to French was because, well, French supplied them with uniforms and firearms.

>>1712588
While there is truth to your statement, it's the opposite. British used red because it was cheapest and because French wasn't using it (They were using white at the time). Also choice of colours wasn't simply just what everyone else was using but a degree of representation of the state.
>>
>>1712563
Blue was France's official color until white replaced it in the 17th century
White was associated with absolute monarchy so blue came back under the revolution

As for the Americans, they were given their uniforms by the French.
It was during the "white era" of France so the symbolic French uniform was the white one, but some regimental uniforms (notably marines) were blue, and the French decided to give the Americans that kind of uniform (they obviously werent gonna supply them the symbolic white ones)

You see, the Bolsheviks came to power in Russia in the latter days of WW2. The Kaiser had sent Lenin over to Russia in the hopes of fomenting revolution, and supplied him with arms, funding, information, as well as the stresses of the conventional war eating away at the Czar's and later the White's legitimacy and power.

As the Fleet mutiny and the 1918-19 revolutions demonstrated, the Kaiser's government were all Jews and thus their actions were part of an organized Jewish plot to create Judeo-Bolshevism to defeat Hitler in the 40s. Jews come up with awfully complicated schemes sometimes.

I have several questions for you /his/torians regarding the effectiveness of the Volkssturm and several about the defense of Berlin.

>>How effective were the Volkssturm in combat? Were they a hindrance to regular military units? Did they ever have any victories by themselves without regular army support?

>>What kinds of defenses were deployed in Berlin in 1945 and how effective were they?

>>Why was so much effort put into defending the Reichstag? It seems like a useless structure that was highly exposed to artillery fire and air attacks, the only advantage being the good lines of sight.

>>1712184

It all depended on how well armed they were. Germany had universal consciption remember. Most of the old men saw combat in the first world war and the youth were members of the Hitlerjugend which taught rifle training. Deployment was key to their effectiveness. A smart Army officer would take Volkstrum units, break them up and mix them into regular army units. On their own, Volkstrum fought with varying degrees. If fighting the Americans or British, the fight woujld be token before surrender occured. Soviets were a different story. See 3/115 Siemensstadt Battalion for example of a good solo Volksstrum unit.

The standard defense: anti tank ditches, use of debris and wrecks as barriers. The Berlin Flak Tower provided one of the few safe havens and had the capability of hitting targets approaching the Reichstag.

The Reichstag's defense or capture was primarily for morale and propaganda reasons. It was not far from where the Fuhrerbunker was and with Hitler refusing t leave, that was where the defenses were held.

>Why was so much effort put into defending the Reichstag?

The zoo flak tower was able to provide anti-tank support over the government district and the bridges around it, which is where the Germans eventually retreated to. The flak guns had direct line of sight on the Moltke Bridge and the open areas approaching the Reichstag. The Soviets never successfully attacked it but eventually arranged its surrender. There are photos of all the Soviet armor destroyed on Moltke Bridge, mostly by those flak guns and the infantry defending it.

I don't know any specifics about the Volkssturm units, other than not all were armed and only those with military experience would be expected to fill such roles, the majority being used in supporting tasks. The civilians themselves were the major hindrance in the city.

Why do people hate Julius Caesar? He was literally one of the greatest leaders to ever live. If he had succeeded: the world never would have suffered the jew, had tons of dosh, eliminated the lower class, Islam would be fucking eradicated as well as any other heathen faith, and we'd be way more technologically advanced than we are now.

The fall of the Roman Empire and destruction of the library of Alexandria literally ruined everything.

That's a pic of Octavian, Caesar's successor.

But Gaius Julius Caesar is a pretty good "great man theory" person. I personally find his achievements more impressive than Augustus's.

His tendency to forgive his opponents (which probably got him killed) makes him a rather unique historical figure.
>>
>>1712142
The only achievements Caesar has over Octavian is being a superior and vastly more skilled general then his nephew. But Octavian dwarfs him as a politician, administrator, and statesman. And Octavian/Augustus had Agrippa, who was basically on the same level as Caesar, Marius, and Sulla or Pompey as a general.

Why do Americans, or at least American media, consider dodging Vietnam as a bad/shameful thing?

Social contract. If called upon you're expected to serve your country. If you don't, why should the country serve you? The whole point is rather moot anyways. Most soldiers in Vietnam weren't draftees and draft dodging was extremely uncommon with only a few notable cases.
>>
>>1711977

Criticism usually comes from two groups:

>Democrats who shame draft dodging Republicans as unpatriotic hypocrites

>Republicans who shame draft dodging Democrats as unpatriotic hypocrites

So in other words, it is politics. It is a thing used to say that your opponent is unpatriotic.
