What were they saying to each other /his/?

>"OP is a fag"

"Until next time, friend".
Hello /his/. I was wondering if any of you have read this book before, or anything similar and would care to discuss it.
I'd like to find out about the critical reception of his thesis. Is it widely regarded as bullshit?
I'd also like to know whether you personally see any merit to his ideas. Going into the book I thought it would be a load of hogwash, but the examples provide strong support to his theory.
After reading this it has kind of sent me down a psychedelic history rabbit hole. Having used a number myself I find myself agreeing with him. Psychedelic plant use is an integral part of the human experience which in the past has been used as a powerful tool for shaping society and improving the life of the people who live within it.
HOWEVER: I do recognise that most authors writing about psychedelics are going to be pretty biased in their favour, perhaps reading in causation to history where there is only correlation. If anyone could provide me with history books not exclusively about psychedelics, but which perhaps indicate or mention their use amongst cultures from the past.
Cheers in advance

So much has been written and documented about the diseases Europeans carried over with them into the New World...
...but what diseases were already indigenous to the Native Americans, that would have infected Europeans in turn?
Syphilis.
>>2401771
This. Overall however higher population density in Europe, along with a more grain based diet that increases exposure to vectors, and more exposure to foreign countries, led to the disparity between European and Indian immunity.
I don't know any specific diseases that were endemic to north America, but the Native north Americans lived at significantly lower population densities than the Europeans. Urbanized Europeans had much better immune systems than the nomadic north Americans simply because European cities were so filthy and had so many vectors for disease
Was there ever a German equivalent to Italian Fascism?
>>2401755
Ive always found Italian fascism, German Nazism, and reactionary Catholic fascism, to be three very different things from each other.
>>2401755
Strasserism
>>2401773
Strasserism is closer to Stalinism than fascism.
Hi /his/, probably you haven't heard about boring issues that are taking place in Bologna (Italy) in the last few weeks. Long made short, we are having clashes between anarchist students and university's administration. Something resumable in "poor vs rich" (in the first ones' point of view).
There are anthropological matters I want to deppen about the linking between the social construction of space and the construction of identity of the "poors" against the "riches" (the clashes are taking space in areas of the cities that are known as "property" of this social enclave, so I'm supposing that these students are using this space to help themselves building their own identity).
Maybe you /his/ can recommend me some nice social anthropology books that can help me understand events such this one?
I recommend forming centrist black blocs to beat the shit out of anyone who destroys school property or inconveniences non-protesters.
good to see the revolution is starting to rise there

>>Did the brits get cucked?
>>2401684
What does this even mean? Do you mean it literally, as in Normans raped all the women? Do you mean as in their old system being replaced by a more continental system?
Because as it is you haven't been very fucking clear what you mean.
>>2401684
As in Dynasty? Yes.
>>2401684
What do you mean by "cucked"? Sure, the "brits", insofar as "brits" existed then, were defeated by the Normans, primarily because they'd just had to march all the way from the south of England to the north, defeat a Viking army, and then march all the way back to the south to immediately fight a Norman army. Not sure quite how that involves cuckoldry though.
>redpill me
Fuck off and read a book about it, it's not like there's a shortage of them.
what exactly is neoplatoism

If Mary was the mother of Jesus, and Jesus was the Lamb of God, does that mean Mary had a little lamb?
Yes. That is what that song is about.
The More You Know.
>>2401646
Not OP, but maybe you can help me.
If Jesus was the lamb of God, and offered for our sins, why are lambs given as sin offerings supposed to be female?

A cute!
The one thing I think Gnosticism did right was it had an explanation for why the God of the Old Testament was such a dick.
>the OT god was a false god known as the demiurge that's why he's an imperfect being who genocides people for the lulz
As opposed to mainstream Christianity which never seems to reconcile why the OT god is the polar opposite of Jesus

>As opposed to mainstream Christianity which never seems to reconcile why the OT god is the polar opposite of Jesus
If you had bothered to at least Google it then you would see that this isn't true.
I've never seen where the whole "God was a jerk in the Old Testament" comes from.

I still don't get Gnosticism
Hello /his/ I am tasked with writing an essay criticizing the style of philosophy of language that Naming and Necessity from Kripke is supposed to be paradigmatic for.
My problem right now is that I am not quite sure which style it really is. Obviously it is analytic philosophy post linguistic turn but apart from that I am not sure where to go with this.
My current plan is to go with more or less regurgitating the criticisms that were made against the philosophy of language post linguistic turn in general. Like the assumption that the problems of other philosophic disciplines can be solved simply by analysing language for example.
Anyway, you guys and girls can probably tell I am somewhat lost currently so I would really appreciate some input.
What would you do with this assignment?

why should anyone outside of purely traditional reasons respect an entity that both claim to be the reprsentative of spiritual matters and at the same time have gone against its own religious dogmas to acquire more wordly power for itself?
shouldn't such an organisation either be exposed to extreme scrutiny or abdanoned enteirely by anyone who actually cares about religious orthodoxy?
When did they go against their own dogmas? What are you bitching about specifically?
>>2400831
a rather big biblical dogma is about idoltry even though the catholics call that veneration. maybe not right to call it a dogma but the catholic's long strive to earn richeness and power do contrast the passages about not striving for earthly treasures.
