I believe a government that truly serves the people is obligated to grant civilians the right to bear arms
I want you to present arguments against this stance.
I recognize that:
>the purpose of a firearm is to kill
>punching holes in paper and "plinking" are only afterthoughts
please be civil :)
>>2752612
why would I argue against this?
>>2753977
>sturmpuppen
That pic is my screensaver
>>2752612
why are they obligated.
Why were Arabs and Turks more successful than Persians at conquering Roman lands?
Persians were civilised people who fought honourably, the barbarous Arabs and Turks are not.
>>2752476
Arabs came after the Romans and Persians had beaten the shit out of each other.
Turks were early pioneers of gunpowder.
>>2752476
>Why did two exhausted empires lose territory to a third power which was fresh?
I've had a bit of an idea that could help put the 'capitalism-vs-communism' meme to rest.
what if we set up an experiment of two "countries", occupying two identical plots of uninhabited land (same size, same resources) and with a population of ~ 3000 volunteers each?
the two countries would be given full sovereignty over their territory and could apply law as they saw fit.
now here's the point of this:
one country would be run as a free market capitalist economy, and the other as a communist state.
we could run this experiment for some 10-20 years and see the results at the end.
the whole thing could even be televised as a reality TV show for funding, sort of like survivor.
what do you think?
>socialism
>3 people
>holding 4 sacks of money
???
>>2752418
well it would depend entirely on how developed this land was to begin with
if they were starting literally from scratch the socialists would certainly win since they can organize as a collective to construct basic infrastructure which isn't possible for the capitalists until enough capital is accumulated to pay for the investment.
oh and would these societies be dictatorships or democracies, kind of an important point
>>2752436
you know, everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others
Are there any errors/problems/mistakes in the Constitution of the United States?
>>2752213
The Third Amendment is made somewhat redundant by the Fourth.
>>2752213
The Second Amendment shouldn't have included a justification. If it's actually a human right, there's no need to explain why, especially in a document that doesn't otherwise contain any justifications.
>>2752290
it's almost like they were particularly weary of being disarmed and so they put extra care into the language to ensure everyone understood it was a god-given natural right.
>DUURRRRR I LIK CAT
What did Charles mean by this?
>>2752169
One cannot be great if they don't like cats.
>>2752169
>a thread was brutally executed for this
Look, I like charlesposting as much as the next guy, but not enough to justify two threads
>>2752169
That you are the dumbest guy around.
Yes, YOU.
Was he the Augustus of our generation?
>both are terrible military leaders
perhaps
>>2752163
Not comparable.
>>2752163
More like Cincinattus
Was Nazi Germany simply too good for this world?
No.
No.
No, the opposite is true though.
ITT: We rate coat of arms.
10/10
>>2752034
>prosperity
>Southern Sudan
But the coat of arms seams nice at least somewhat heraldic
>>2752034

Leave the Slavs to me.
*gets beaten to death by vengeful poles*
Leave Germany to me
Leave Africa to me.
How much better could you make a medieval knight's equipment using modern materials and methods?
Say if you had modern engineers who had to stick to the basic design concepts (i.e. the equipment being swords, maces, lances plate armor/chainmail) but were otherwise free to apply modern techniques.
I know modern bows and crossbows and such can be made far superior to what they've had back then.
>>2751974
Titanium armor would be borderline invincible to pre-gunpowder weapons, even assuming the weapons were also made out of titanium.
>>2751974
> team of scientists and historians have to alter history in order to prevent a future disaster
> have to turn the tables of a war
> can't use guns because it would be eventually recorded/discovered, blowing their cover
> have to save the day in the best medieval gear the 21st century can manufacture
> get stuck in the past
> run around helping people people with their neo-medieval gizmos like the A-team
I would watch this show.
>>2751989
Good luck producing titanium in large quantities. Not to mention making weapons out of Ti is pretty stupid idea.
Were Christians allowed to enter it after it was converted in to a mosque?
Imagine being someone who grew up in Constaninople... you would go there as much as you could since you became aware. Then Turks besiege your society. They conquer it. You manage to survive the massacre.
But you can no longer pray in it. And slowly every single church is converted in to a mosque or munitions storage.
Damn.
>>2751879
Good riddance too.
The minarets really add to the aesthetic and they treated the place with more respect than the Christians.
>>2751904
How? They just put layers of shit on top of the real art.
>>2751879
butthurt greek here....
u r wrong btw.
>>2751848
Sertorius.
Who did it better?
>>2751438
Can you be more specific with your question please.
>>2751438
Well, I mean, Kennedy got away with it while Nixon is hated by pretty much everyone for less.
>>2751438
JFK
>The man Americans want to be
Nixon
>The man Americans really are
Gets my noggin joggin I tell ya
When did it all start?
>>2751433
No idea
>>2751433
With civilization
>>2751452
Didn't people identify with kingdoms and not ethncity in ancient times?
Was it autism?
it was communism
>>2751441
This plus chinks natural lack of empathy
>>2751427
It was socialpathy
It takes guts to hunt down "foreign ethncities" like Hitler did but it takes a special kind of evil to try to destroy your own people
