Is this worth reading? I'm a layman interested in totalitarianism. My knowledge of the subject is superficial but I'm willing to learn.
>>2757795
I've read some of it and it was very philosophical.
It's alright, her analyses are solid, though she mostly covers National Socialism in particular.
Eichmann in Jerusalem is good too if you want to explore the psyche and motives of people serving totalitarian regimes.

Hitler said before in his last will and testament, before he died, that in the future Germany there will be a renaissance of National Socialist politics and they will mercilessly destroy international Jewry.
Was he right?
Not yet but we may see it in our lifetime.

Would you say there is a link between the Black Death and multiculturalism failing?
>>2756423
No. There is a link between the Black Death and big, densely populated urban centers that have breakouts of bacterial infections however.
Could you go into more detail in your question? Are you implying that fear of disease is a factor in being anti-multiculturalist?

Dod the Germans seriously believe they could win another world war? I know they were blinded by revanchism but you'd think that there would be at least some voice of reason realizing it was a fool's errand.
>>2756066
They literally believed that DA JOOS were responsible for them losing the 1st world war, and so they felt that they'd easily win a second one so long as they got rid of DA JOOS first.
>>2756066
>Germans seriously believe they could win another world war?
>>2756066
They could have. Winning wars is as much a matter of political balancing as it is logistics and strategy. Like in the first world war when they pissed off Britain by invading Belgium, there are decisions they could have made differently in WWII to affect a change in their favour.
Is this worth it for hobby historians?
Also, can I get it for free from a torrent tracker, video and all? I only saw old audio torrents.
If any of you use the website, tell us how good it is, and if you'd recommend it.
Keep in mind I am a poor man from a potato country.
Oh, and by the way I am talking about thegreatcoursesplus.com
It says it in the image, and it gets shilled on a lot of scientific Youtube channels, but just in case someone missed it.
>>2755946
I used the great courses for philosophy, game theory, and economics. Recommended.
>>2755946
I think there are some video torrents out there, the audio are just more prevalent because they're smaller and the actual content works perfectly with just audio for ~90% of courses.
I recommended them on the basis that they're often better than, say, a podcast on a corresponding subject. Their written and presented by legitimately accomplished professors. Obviously, as with any college course, the quality can vary slightly between lecturers but on the whole they're outstanding routes into a subject.
I personally recommend Kenneth Harl's courses for in-depth history ones.
Does anyone else love learning about history through stories told by a narrator? I always enjoy learning about historical events through stuff like Dan Carlin's podcasts or videos like this: https://youtu.be/VDnKciXrmnc
Anyone know of YouTube channels/podcasts/TV shows that have a similar format? i.e. history told outside of lecture.
>>2755752
History of Rome on youtube is bretty gud. You can also look for books that are in the genre of novelistic non-fiction for a similar vibe.
>>2755752
I enjoyed the crap out of crusader quest back when it ran on /tg/ too bad its never coming back....
HI101 podcast is pretty good if that's what you want. It's just a guy casually telling his friends the story of a certain subject. Though, precisely because it's just two friends talking, and not a lecture like Hardcore History or Revolutions, he does make mistakes, very small ones that he then talks about when the audience corrects him. It is a -very- amateur thing, and very noticeable when you listen to them talking about something that you're familiar with.
Is your historical knowledge vast enough to tie multiple centers of civilization together?
Most here are probably knowledgeable about European cultures, Europeans had most contact with Arabic culture. Are you able to link both cultures's history together fluently?
What about Arab's history with African's history? Or Arab with India. Or Europe with central asian steppe tribes. Or the Steppe tribes with Arabs or Chinese? Or the Indians with SEA and the SEA with China?
How close are you to unifying your historical knowledge into a global history?
>>2755588
Eat my dick faggot.
I can link cultures together through the silk road and know China and Rome traded with each other. I know Hellenism greatly shaped the Middle East and North India.
>>2755588
Pretty far dude. I only know European and history (except the eraly middle ages) and maybe a little bit Arabian/North African. I would love to learn a bit more about Persia or India but I can't find a good way online
