Based Siddig. Best Hannibal.
Why are there so many professors who don't know life outside of college
how do they expect to teach the human experience if they're college bred technocratic robots with no real world cred, don't know what it means to be human?
Since you are so wise, can you tell us what means to be human?

Was he right in the end to the overthrow the Qing Dynasty? Or was he the inadvertent father of the Communist?
The Qing were weak and couldn't keep Chinese society in order, they would have been overthrown anyways.
It's a shame the Nationalists were so weak later on though.
>>2759053
Anyone who inherited the country would have been in a shitshow. All he did in the end was to make things worse, allow for the rise of the communists and basically create the conditions for the rule of Mao and the Communist. Did overthrowing the Qing fix anything? China would still be the victim of outside powers even with the ROC.

Both
>1940 after France's surrender
>Hitler sends army to bolster Italian invasion of Egypt via Libya while Britain is still reeling from defeat
>occupies Vichy French Syria and Algeria as a temporary measure
>uses airborne troop to capture Gibraltar (Franco wouldn't have been able to stop him)
>uses army in Syria to bolster nationalist uprising in Iraq, place friendly pro-axis Arab governments in Middle East
>seizes Suez Canal and cripples British access to mediterranean allowing safer German and Italian roaming in Mediterranean
>uses Italian merchant fleet under submarine escort to carry Iraq oil back to Europe
>since he holds Gibraltar and suez, British ability to harass oil transports is limited
>persuades Turkey to guarantee free access to overland oil deliveries in exchange for military technology
>open's up southern front against Stalin, further delaying a possible Russian attack in 41/42
Would it have worked? Would it have been a better idea than Operation Barbarossa? Would it have stabilised German resource supplies in the short term at least?
>>2759002
>Would it have worked?
No, in fact, pretty much none of the component steps would have worked. Sending troops to North Africa can't press the English to Suez, you don't have the supply infrastructure to sustain an offensive there. http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a348413.pdf
Using airborne troops to seize Gibraltar won't work, because your JU-52s can't reach it from any of your bases.
You don't have any troops in Syria worth mentioning, and again can't supply them through the med with the British contesting the waters.
Iraq itself would be occupied by the British in 1941.
There is no way Turkey will be running guns for you and leave themselves open to invasion by the USSR, they wer also quite friendly with the French at the time, and not at all happy with you beating them up.
>Would it have stabilised German resource supplies in the short term at least?
Definitely not, since the Middle East wasn't a huge producer of oil at the time, and there's absolutely nothing else there worth anything.
>>2759002
Are we assuming there's no Barbarossa in June 1941?

Cool. Generally as a materialist, it's hard to say in an objective sense that anything really exists, which is why it eventually takes itself towards mereological nihilism if you don't ground it in something arbitrary.
>British empire is thought of as "British" just because it was ruled by the Brits, even though vast majority of its subjects weren't English, Scottish, Irish or Welsh
>USSR is considered "Russian" even though it was actually ruled by Jews
Why the double standard?
Britain is usually associated with the English. Nobody gives a fuck about Scots or heavens forbid, Welsh.
>USSR is considered "Russian" even though it was actually ruled by Jews
Proof?
>>2758751
Everyone just says "Russians" when referring to the Soviet Union which just baffles me.
Just how guilty was he?
>>2758691
He died of natural causes, so not guilty
>>2758691
Not really. most of the war was because of Tojo. Only towards the end when he was forced out did Hirohito have any power.
>>2758691
It doesn't matter, the threat was neutralized so there was no reason to remove him from the throne. Punishing Hirohito would have accomplished nothing and would have embittered the Japanese.
How did the men of fallen empires and nations suppress their pain and sorrow?
I guess they didn't have time to think about this stuff just lived.

>>2758634
Speaking as a Britbong... eh, it's not hard. We have a solid standard of living, place highly on most tables, that sort of thing. Sure there's a whole history of being super best at everything that we've since lost, but sometimes it's fine to just be pretty good and leave the responsiblities of ruling the world to someone else.

USA has a tendency to pick absolutely shitty allies.
Either USA goes all the way or it fails. The middle road just leads to bombing shitholes for decades.
>>2757995
The numbers are misleading. 270,000 was only North Vietnamese initial strength, and the vast majority of South Vietnamese paper strength was actually militias or Regional Forces, who were little more than militias with a fancier name and WW2-era small arms. They were restricted to their regions and played no part in the fighting. Adding on to that was that the vast majority of South Vietnam's materiel was non-functional due to lack of ammo and spare parts (they weren't getting any more from the USA, and 1973, 1973, 1974, and the rest of 1975 saw them expend much of their remainder in heavy fighting).
There was a severe rationing of ARVN resources, such as allotting individual soldiers 85 rifle rounds per month, limiting howitzers to firing four rounds a day, and an economy and government devastated not only by the lack of economic aid, but the economic recession and inflation at the time as well. According to ARVN General Cao Van Vien in April of 1974, the ARVN military even under that absurd rationing of munitions, would run out of fuel by mid-May of 1975 and ammunition by June of the same year.
Is this accurate?

Why was every following soviet leader weaker than previous one? Is there some fault in party system?
>>2757811
Pretty much.
>Have authoritarian dictatorship in fact if not name.
>All strong, competent personalities are potential threats to the current leader's power.
>They get purged if they get into any position of authority which can be leveraged into a move against the leader
>Only survivors in senior governmental positions are the people who can be trusted to not rock the boat, i.e., weaker than the incumbant.
>Eventual successor is pulled from that pool.
>Rinse and repeat.
