Despite not starting our involvement in the conflict, why don't people talk about the disaster of Vietnam being entirely this assholes fault?
19 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Because it doesn't fit into a neat left-right political dichotomy.

>progressive president starts war
>the main opposition to the war is from other progressives
>conservative gets elected and draws out the conflict, too slowly for the doves and too quickly for the hawks

Nobody can really use it to sell you anything.

Lyndon Johnson sending the troops into Vietnam wasn't really any different than any Cold War action taken by any American president. From President Truman sending the troops into Korea to President Eisenhower sending the CIA into Guatemala, President Johnson sending troops into Vietnam seemed like it was business-as-usual. The only difference between the Vietnam War and all our other Cold War conflicts is that the Vietcong defeated us; they won and we lost. Now I know a huge mob is going to protest my comment by saying "America didn't lose the war, it won the war, then left, then the Vietcong won the war. So South Vietnam lost the war, not us." Seriously guys, just accept it, we lost. The winner of a war is not decided by treaties by some guy with a pen, it's decided on the battlefield be the soldiers who get the enemy to give up, and that was the Vietcong. I don't think we should blame President Johnson or anyone for Vietnam because we all did our best, but the Vietcong we're just better.

Arguably Edo period Japan if you lean towards reactionarism. although they still Europeans trade of course, just in very limited numbers.

As far as the vast 3rd world is concerned? No.

White people had a lot of time to learn how to run things. Some people were living like tribes 50 years ago and out of nowhere have to run a country in the modern way. Don't you think it'll take some time to know how to do things? Practice makes perfect.
If the barbarian germanics learned how to do it, anyone else can too.

The kingdom of God is not of this world. It does not matter to God in the slightest whether His people have wealth and power while on earth. Only that they have faith.
>>
>>2754568
It'd be hard to have faith if those wealthy and powerful Christian Kingdoms weren't able historically to protect Christianity from Islamic aggression.

Aztecs, the Jaguar warriors were very strong and intimidating. also Mesoamericans had a more advanced arsenal compared to the primitive Egyptians.

The west. Pyramids, while impressive to look at, did not contribute to the survival of their cultures. Dumb people built impressive structures. Smart people built nations.

Aztecs ate people

Egyptians had a cool, rich culture

Memes aside, the Icelandic Commonwealth.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_Commonwealth

"The legal system's administration, insofar as it had one, lay in the hands of a parliament of about 40 officers whom historians call, however inadequately, "chieftains." This parliament had no budget and no employees; it met only two weeks per year. In addition to their parliamentary role, chieftains were empowered in their own local districts to appoint judges and to keep the peace; this latter job was handled on an essentially fee-for-service basis. The enforcement of judicial decisions was largely a matter of self-help (hence Iceland's reputation as a land of constant private feuding), but those who lacked the might to enforce their rights could sell their court-decreed claims for compensation to someone more powerful, usually a chieftain; hence even the poor and friendless could not be victimized with impunity. The basis of a chieftain's power within the political order was the power he already possessed outside it, in civil society. The office of chieftaincy was private property, and could be bought or sold; hence chieftaincies tended to track private wealth. But wealth alone was not enough. As economic historian Birgir Solvason notes in his masterful study of the period, "just buying the chieftainship was no guarantee of power"; the mere office by itself was "almost worthless" unless the chieftain could "convince some free-farmers to follow him." Chieftains did not hold authority over territorially-defined districts, but competed for clients with other chieftains from the same geographical area."

Who were the historical Aryans who invaded the Indus Valley around 1500 BC? What did they look like, racially speaking? What do we know of them? I know they were nomads from the Pontic-Caspian steppes who were among the first to use horses. What does modern research tell us about them?

PLS no /pol/ racist/nazi propaganda. Only proper history/archeology

>>

Well it certainly wasn't a success. It's not super clear what would have happened without Barbarossa. There's some debate about whether or not Stalin was planning to attack the Germans first, but the evidence is sketchy at best.

It was neither.
