Does anyone have that image of the audiophile old man with a very overkill sound setup connected to his Macbook?
It got posted a lot before.

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable

Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Oh, and before anybody asks, temps are more than fine. I tried cable managing when i had good power supply, but I got stuck with a non-modular PSU with short ass cables so meh.
>>54929087
>>54929308
I have the same PSU as you
What are some 2012+ phones with that form factor (slide-out physical keyboard)?
Doesn't matter if it's from well known manufacturer or biggest chinkshit ever.
Keyboard on my pic related is slowly dying.
Also why did physical keyboards go away?
Will they come back with Project Ara?

The Motorola Photon Q looks interesting to me.

Hey /g, I'm sorta on a low budget. Ive had my rig in an old case for a few months now
Corsair 450 csm PSU
Nvidia gtx 970
8GB ddr3 RAM
Intel i5 cpu
ASRock H97M PRO 4 motherboard
I'm looking for any recommendations for a medoum but compact case that's fairly quiet with enough room for when I can add an SSD or some other stuff. Max around 80 USD. Thanks!

NZXT 430 looks good, although cable management isn't optimal.
So /g/ I recently moved from my country of origin to America. Here I got a dumbphone with a SIM card and I was wondering how do I use my old smartphone with it.
I tried putting the new sim on my old smartphone but it's asking for an unlock code. After a bit more research I found that you need the IMEI number in order to find your unlock code. I googled everything but all I get is shady sites asking for cash to send you an unlock code or outdated software that does not have my phone in their banks.
I wanna know /g/ how do you /g/ents unlock sim codes? Is there a special software needed to do it or is there another way?
I wanna find the correct unlock code for my phone. Any help would be appreciated.
Your smartphone is locked to your carrier. You can call your old carrier and ask them for the unlock code, they should provide it for free (if you don't owe them any money)
>>54992499
I had to cancel my contract cause I moved suddenly cause I got a job opening. Anyway to get the code w/o dealing with my old carrier?
>>54992529
You have to deal with one of those "shady" sites and pay money for an unlock code. Plenty of them advertise on ebay, find one with good feedback and pay for it.
There is no way to do it for free, accessing the manufacturer's database where the unlock codes are kept costs a lot of money, which is why they charge you.
Reviewers (on Youtube or independent sites) should be legally required to mention when they are paid by the manufacturer of a product they are reviewing. There should be a large notice at the top of the page or start of the video that says "we are receive sponsorship from X" and maybe even mention if they aren't sponsored by competitors. As in "We receive sponsorship from Nvidia but not AMD".
Shilling is out of control these days.
>>54992229
It is very strange. Don't review websites have to disclaim this at the bottom anyway?
Can you name an example of a paid youtube reviewer that doesn't state their sponsorship?
>>54992273
Linus doesn't have to say "we are sponsored by Nvidia" at the start of their Nvidia reviews. I just think it should be required.
>>54992313
Yeah, but. Could you name a YouTuber that does not state their sponsor?
guys do you reckon i can get a palit 770 jetstream into a thermaltake core v1? the length will definitely go but im worried about depth, i dont want it to be pressing against the side panel.
I have the same card, OP. I probably wouldn't chance it, I don't think it would fit. Maybe another anon who owns a core v1 might know better though.
>>54991790
>770
loved mine but the card was slow as shit when it came out in 2012-2013 and its slow as hell now
>>54991790
It will fit in this

Do drivers even exist for this junk? I had to scour online and compare photos to even determine the model number because it isn't written anywhere on the packaging or in the instructions and now the drivers are impossible to locate. The Orico website gave me some random unrelated driver and it seems like other people have the same problem. Am I going to need to return this?
Pls help
>>54991099
Wouldn't generic drivers work for this kind of a device?
>>54991227
>generic drivers
>for usb 3.0 controller
TOP KEK WHAT A FUCKING MACFAGGOT
Your opinion matters /g/
>>54990914
None of the above. Google is just a search engine and the owner of YouTube to me.
>>54990914
There should be a seventh option: BOTNET!
What happens if you press none of the above
Figured this JVC PC-111 would sound better than any modern bluetooth speaker with the AUX > cassette adapter. Thoughts?
>>54990715
So I have pic related. I normally connect my toys to its line in via a 3.5 > RCA cable. I just tried the adapter, there was a notable degradation in quality, no doubt from the conversion process between the heads. Forget the adapter, use the line in on the stereo if it has one. If not, suck shit.
>>54990953
Why not use glorious hi-fi speakers? Pic related.
>>54990994
Because I don't want them getting covered with sawdust, spraypaint dust, and all the other shit that floats around in my garage.
I really need to buy some studio monitors.
As the title says what is the best site/program(prefferably site though because I use xp and will most will probably not work) to stream music for listenalongs considering I HAVE TO UPLOAD THE MUSIC FROM MY COMPUTER.I tried wavelenght.fm but it always says upload failed when I upload something.
mpd to icecast2
>>54990607
Seems like way too difficult for multiple people to join in.
>>54990618
that's the whole point of icecast, any streaming player or even a browser will play it
but yeah it's rather difficult
I think wangblows can use shoutcast in some nativeish way, probably even has a config gui
sup /g/, is this a valid way to cool down your PC with an additional 2 fans? Aside from dust, are there any actual drawbacks? also I just put together a rig and am slightly disappointed with my FPS in CSGO. fx8120 eight core/r9 280x 3gb gpu and 16gb of ram and I'm only getting like 150fps in matchmaking. Seems odd.
Stop
Csgo is very heavy in the single threaded CPU department so your fx will not perform well there, as it benefits from more multithreaded workflows
