Most people have probability seen this XKCD comic about using live streaming cameras and a simple VR headset to change your perspective. What if instead of goal posts you steamed video from two quadcopters? The pose of the quad copters could be proportional to the pose of a VR headset. Obviously there would be some serious issues with noise and vibration I think a combination of mechanical stabilization and active "cropping" of a wide angle image might work. You could superman or a giant and look all around!

What do you think? Possible? Impossible? Possible but so much more work than it would be worth? Totally awesome?
>>
>>54990189
getting two quadcopters to stay a consistant distance apart and point at the same target is going to be difficult
if those two elements change too much you're in for a very uncomfortable viewing experience
>>
>>54990147
and the quadcopters drift apart and you go virtually cross-eyed

do your eyes grow further apart and closer together?

the cameras will have to be at a static distance from each other

I feel like they are a feature that simply don't get enough love from the community.

Finally gone are the days of long and short polling. Gone are the days of checkins, wasting gbs of mobile data only to find that there is nothing new to process. What does /g/ think?

Also fuck SQUID, those cunts still meddle with unencrypted connections.

Squid caches HTTPS too, what do you mean?
>>
>>54990727
Basically during the initial connect SQUID fails to upgrade the standard HTTP/1.1 request to a persistent socket connection.

There is a lot of material about this online. I know for sure because I made a small chatroom using ws but couldn't connect from work. As soon as I updated to wss it was fine.

It does its job well. Why does this technology need more love than what it gets now?

Is it better to buy a phone on aliexpress or to buy it on China and sending it through Europe ? (my gf is chinese, she can send me a phone from there, this summer)
>>
>>54989389
The last one is better, the phone will be cheaper but sending it will cost more. But your GF can help you better by putting 'gift' on the package to get around customs etc.

customs don't fall for the GIFT meme

Hello /g/ , remember 1 year ago making a thread aboPC parts at work?. It's been 1 year since i stole that i7 3770 from my dumb coworker and replaced it with a shitty i5. The stupid bitch is so tech illiterate she never noticed a thing . Nobody ever checks our computers so i can safely say i got away with it , dusted fingerprints just in case and it wasn't even my PC. Why are women so tech illiterate?

This is troll right? If not you are most likely not very successful with women, so to make yourself feel superior you try to put them down. Most men wouldn't notice if you swapped their processor at work.

Worked at multiple big tech companies (think - IBM, INTC, MSFT, ORCL, CSCO, etc) in "core product" R&D

>Nobody cares about editors
>Nobody cares about desktop environments
>Nobody cares about languages
>Nobody has outside projects (in fact, outside projects generally disallowed)
>All normal, well adjusted, people with significant others, kids, houses, outdoor hobbies
>Very few gamer types
>Very few GNU/Linux users, and usually Ubuntu / Fedora
>Everybody getting shit done all day everyday so you can waste your life arguing about it on /g/.

You're not allowed to write your own software on your own time?

Sorry, you must have been working in dumbfuck phone support or some shit where they put all the dumb people, because I've held REAL tech jobs at major companies, EVERYONE cares about editors, DEs, languages, everyone has their own projects, gamers everywhere, mostly GNU users (and some Applefucks, but they're weird) because Microsoft is hated among non-normiefucks, and we STILL get shit done all goddamn day.

I'm writing a userscript to autoplay gifs and webms.
My problem is getting webms to expand correctly, if you click on them, the thumbnail disappears and the 4chan extension's ImageExpansion functions don't trigger as they should.

function autoplay_images()
{
var imgs = document.getElementsByClassName("fileThumb");
for (var i = 0; i < imgs.length; i++)
{
if (imgs[i].href.indexOf(".gif") > -1) /* GIF */
imgs[i].firstChild.src = imgs[i].href;
if (imgs[i].href.indexOf(".webm") > -1) /* WEBM */
{
var thumb = imgs[i].firstChild;
var webm = document.createElement('video');
webm.setAttribute('src', imgs[i].href);
webm.setAttribute('poster', thumb.src);
webm.setAttribute('style', thumb.style.cssText);
webm.setAttribute('autoplay', 'true');
webm.setAttribute('loop', 'true');
webm.setAttribute('preload', 'auto');
webm.onclick = function() {
window.open(webm.src);
};
imgs[i].replaceChild(webm, thumb);
}
}
}

autoplay_images();

Probably to late to save it though

I have been worried for a number of weeks now, about what would happen where a powerful OS like Linux fall into the hands of the ghosts that haunt the moon. We all know that spaceships don't run Windows, so if a spaceship crashed on the moon, it would be likely that moon ghosts would find their way inside, and, due to their curious nature, tamper with the computers. If one of these computers had Linux on it, it would give the moon ghosts technology that they would not be able to comprehend or use responsibly (ghosts *cannot* use technology responsibly, this is scientific fact) which could have dire consequences for the human race.

My idea is to write a Moon-ghost distribution of Linux (suggestions for names welcome!) that would be very cut down, so it had little power. This distribution would be installed on all planet-bound spacecraft. This way, if it they where to crash on the moon, the moon ghosts would not have such a powerful tool. My question to /g/ is, what distro would be good to use for this? What sort of features could be removed? Wireless obviously has to stay in as the spaceships need to communicate with earth, and they would need webcam functionality to photograph stars and craters and things.

How stoned or drunk are you?
>>
>>54987515
drugs are bad & I don't drink
>>
if you think about it OP, it's likely that the ghost's hands would not be able to press keys and buttons on the computer--it would therefore be difficult for them use the Linux operation system, and they'd probably give up. Just extrapolating from known data re: ghosts, and Linux.

I have a rooted android phone with the official adblock plus app on super user permissions, but on youtube, instagram, twitter, and the vast majority of mobile sites there is still rampant invasive advertising that ruins the experience.

Is there any actual good one?
