Is C++ still relevant or they just use this because they are too lazy to use new systems instead using the old ones with makeshift layers?

Well if someone wants to develop a modern application for desktops they probably will use C# for it or if they want to touch the mobile platforms they will use this again or Java.

There isn't really another reason to use C++ besides taking care of the past.

Now you can say there is QtCreator but it is dying Microshite is taking over. Visual Studio is the main thing nowadays. Even who works with C++ will use Visual Studio because the comfort it gives.

Now the question is what the fuck I have just wrote? What is the point of this post?

why is design getting worse and worse, less informative and less intuitive as the years go by

there's zero consistency in button placement or function, anything resembling a "standard" has long been murdered in favor of stupid shapes and guesswork ui

Anyone else find themselves not turning on their desktop for anything but programming these days?

I just do everything else (browsing, email) on my phone

Is it time to join the tablet race?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I don't code, but I do a fair share of 3d modeling and drawing (solidworks, mastercam) and yes I fear that one day I'll avoid using my desktop for leisure. Until then I just use my desktop in brief sprints, draw one thing, go run an errand, etc.
>>
>>55174256
You might not even need a desktop to program in the end. All you need is a big screen, or multiple of them, and a keyboard. Tablets already provide that.
>>
>>55174500

Why aren't more cities installing municipal fiber?

Do they care about Comcast lobbyist bucks more than actually improving their cities?

Jewgle Fiber is moving into my city, and should definitely be encouraging business and the aforementioned. It's already a huge banking center of the South and wagecuck landscapers are digging up the neighborhood, will be nice to have those kind of speeds, plus time warner has to compete so I now pay 80 bucks for 29 megabytes/ps

>>Do they care about Comcast lobbyist bucks more than actually improving their cities?
most politicians do, yes. Their first priority is always getting re-elected, because nobody who doesn't get off on power goes into politics. Their second priority is always making money.

really nobody who is ambitious enough to be a politician should be trusted with political power. not that I have any idea how you'd set that system up.
>>
>>55174157
>Their first priority is always getting re-elected,

But, wouldn't they get re-elected if they shill their municipal fiber initiative hard to the voters?

Allo /g/ents

I come to you with a dilemma and compensation for help. I have a free subscription to pluralsight and have gotten a lot out of their videos so far. However, I would like download a lot more before my trial runs out.

The only methods I have found with my limited research are brute force, manual ones that will take quite a while. I am curious if anyone knows or can point me in the direction of an automated method. I will not download any software, but if I need to install python e.g. or use a third party site that would be fine. I will rip videos on any subject the person or people who help me would like. Pluralsight's motto is "the hardcore dev training site" and while a bit on the nose has proven true. They have many obscure and advanced topics covered.

I will check the thread regularly. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried if youtube-dl is able to down their videos? Use the newest version from github/their site, the one in the repo is outdated AF
>>
>>55174318
I will try and report back but if I remember the limitations right pluralsight has most things like that blocked unless the videos url is reopens in a new tab. The new version may be just fine tho

Should I buy a Smart TV or a regular TV with a streaming device instead?

Regular TV with a streaming device should save you some money. The issue is the panels in non-smart TVs tend not to be that good that good.

TV with streaming device. Always. Smart TV's tend to obsolete pretty quickly.
>>
>>55173801
And what about the refresh rate? Would I be sacrificing a better refresh rate when I buy a regular no-smart TV set?
