I was talking to a JAVA head earlier and he said me taking "C" next semester was pretty much useless and his disdain for it. He said he mainly hated all the pointers involved and that it wasn't easily cross-compatible with other operating systems. It basically described it as unessential for a programmer. Does he know what the hell he's talking about or just too dumb for most languages?
>>55167733
Yes
>>55167765
Yes to? Java is definitely easier for cross-OS.
Just moved into my apartment in North Carolina. Time Warner cable charges $12 per month in rental costs, looking to cut that shit off quick. I left my parents the Modem Router back at home and decided I would save them the money.
Looking for a reason between getting a Modem and Router separate, or getting a Modem Router combo. Other than cost, which I notice getting separate would be slightly more expensive.
I was thinking the Combo would be easier, but is there a reason to get one over the other?
Lol.
Are you a fucking retard?

Did you know VIA is still making x86 processors?
What went wrong? Why did they fade away?

>it fucking makes 3d games on the core2duo laptop much faster
Why are binaries so much slower than compiled packages?
>>55167434
Because your mother dropped you on the head as a child
>>55167434
because the point of compiled binaries is to work out of the box.
not to be optimized to your specific system.

How unique is your browser?
https://browserprint.info/
http://panopticlick.eff.org/
Could you be being tracked across websites?
4chan uses Google analytics and that's known to track people using cookies and fingerprinting techniques.
Even if you block analytics tracking could be hidden in CAPTCHA code or 4chan GUI code.
Would you want your friends knowing you browse 4chan? Would you want a potential employer knowing?
Studies have shown that Google can track you across nearly 80% of the top 100 million sites.
They're using advanced fingerprinting techniques that nobody has built defenses for yet.
Things you can do:
Use Tor or a VPN.
Use the Tor Browser Bundle (it's one of the few browsers that tries to defend against fingerprinting attacks).
Use a different browser for your social media botnet shit and your shitposting.
Block tracker scripts (Privacy Badger / NoScript / uMatrix)
Panopticlick is fucking garbage now. Unblocking sites that say they honor Do Not Track is a terrible idea, and Panopticlick has no way to tell if I'm scrambling my fingerprint for each site every few minutes (which I am)
>>55167659
Scrambling your fingerprint only works if you never use the same fingerprint on 2 different websites.
>>55167933
why is that? If you scramble your fingerprint for a certain site then that site has fingerprint A. If you visit with fingerprint B wouldnt the site only have fingerprint B. or am i thinking about this all wrong
Firefox really has become bloated over the years, are there any other browser alternatives that cater to my autism?
I really like the look and feel of Midori but it keeps fucking crashinggggggggggggggg
IceCat, for the ultimate in autism.

Mine is 57, but im pretty drunk right no so that could be why it is so bad. Usually it is around 70-80. I also don't type formally. I move my fingers all around the keyboard and shit.

>A new variety of ransomware has been uncovered called RAA, but what is odd in this case is the creators took the somewhat unusual step of coding it in JavaScript instead of the more standard programming languages making it more effective in certain situation.
>Since JavaScript does not by itself feature any default cryptography functions theransomwarecreators use the CryptoJS library which enabled AES encryption to be used to lock up the victims' files.
>JavaScript can provide an advantage for attackers in various ways over compiled .exe files -- but we've seen ransomware written in everything from C++ to straight .bat files; detection needs to be based on dynamic as well as static file examination methods."
>Opening the attachment kicks off a series of steps that not only locks up the victim's files, but also downloads some additional malware onto the target computer. The attachment does not visibly do anything, but appears to the victim as a corrupted file. However, in fact it is busy doing its dirty work in the background. This includes deleting the Windows Volume Shadow Copy so the encrypted files cannot be recovered and the ransomware is set to run every time Windows starts up so it can capture any new information.

who does that? at first i thought this was some cool browser based exploit, but noooo.
>The 1,000 processors canexecute 115 billion instructions per second while dissipating only 0.7 Watts, low enough to be powered by a single AA battery...more than 100 times more efficiently than a modern laptop processor... The energy-efficient "KiloCore" chip has a maximum computation rate of 1.78 trillion instructions per second and contains 621 million transistors.
>Programs get split across many processors (each running independently as needed with an average maximum clock frequency of 1.78 gigahertz), "and they transfer data directly to each other rather than using a pooled memory area that can become a bottleneck for data." Imagine how many mind-boggling things will become possible if this much processing power ultimately finds its way into new consumer technologies.

Das it mane
What instruction set?
Finally they get the Kilocore concept to the full 1000. Been hoping to see them get that for years.
Linux is beautiful
>>55166785
Not sure if you're being sarcastic.
The kernel has nothing to do with a filesystem layout. Even some GNU/Linux distros change the layout to make it seem better to users.
Looks good to me.

But funtoo is better.
So, Thinkpad was bought out by Lenovo, which by my understanding is a cheap Chinese shit company.
Where can you find a good laptop for >500USD now? Seems like if you want anything that isn't a piece of shit you need to run into the thousands.
Dell do a really good $800 laptop with an i5 + GTX 960M.
A laptop for greater than 500 USD? An Apple store

I am retarded.
How can I detect a bottleneck?
Whether it's the CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD, etc, I just want to see what's stopping my computer from getting the best possible performance.
Put all the cables through different funnels. Any bits that flow out of the tunnel means that is the bottleneck.
put all your parts in a bathtub full of milk (the fat will prevent the parts from breaking), everything that starts floating is a bottleneck.
