What does /g/ think about the idea of modern dumb phones?
This punkt phone is the only one that I've really found any info on; does anyone else know of any other phones like this?
How did you become brain damaged? Honest question. Was it a car crash, use of drugs, what?
I don't see the appeal. There are smartphones with very good battery life, especially if you use them exactly how you'd use a dumbphone. Some people cite privacy concerns but I haven't been under the illusion of having privacy with my cell phone for far longer than 10 years. I'm carrying a microphone and radio transmitter in my pocket either way.
You could conceivably use lots of old phones on a modern GSM network as long as you can fit your SIM into them. They make micro-to-full adapters for next to nothing. Might as well get an old phone, a new chink battery and go to town.

Do you really have so little self control that you need to buy a $300 dumb phone to stop you from playing mobile games ?

/g/, I need your help regarding hard drives.
Does SSD give that much of a speed boost for every day tasks such as PDF viewing/editing and Onenote? Or is the benefit primarily for fast boot up? So if I have my laptop on stand up mode or on all the time, it has less noticeable benefits?

I've got 450CAD (ie. ~350USD) to acquire a new monitor to replace my 10 year old 16:10, its viewing angles and overall video quality is just too bad compared to even 200USD monitors today.
Just need visuals good enough for movies and a little editing, 24-27" and hopefully 1440p (or higher(doubt there's something in this price range)). Gaming is not important but might be nice.
Also, Monitors General Thread

Fuck off we don't need more generals on this board as it is.
Anyways, Dell U2415. 16:10, best IPS panel on the market in terms of color, and thin bezels. They make a 1440p version too but it will probably end up out of your budget at that point and 1080p at 24 inches is fine anyways.
well, this is the best i found

Discuss pic related. Coding camps vs CS degrees.

>tfw can't wait until the dot com 2.0 bubble bursts

do people even care about these things anymore rofl
I'm about to get my CS degree and I still don't understand algorithms and data structures thanks to my shitty professor.
Didn't see a career thread so I'm going to ask it here.
I'm deciding between a traditional trade (HVAC) and something geared towards IT like getting some Certs from cisco so I can do network related work which is what I'd like to do.
I already have an associates, but it's in general studies so it's useless tier.
What certs are best if I wanted to do a computer networking related job, CCNA? What else?
Where I live HVAC is always in demand except maybe two months in the winter. It's hard work but it pays well and doesn't take a genius to learn so I'd almost always have work.
I'm worried if I go IT I'll be a guy with certs competing for a job vs some guy that has a CS bachelors or something.
Could I get a decent IT job with certs + my associates? Should I try to get a second associates like an AAS?
Oh and pic related, its me
It depends very much on whether or not the job is in demand in your area. The lower the demand, the greater the competition.
I'm a freelance developer, hoping to start my own business soon
Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

Fingerprinting thread begin
https://browserprint.info/
http://panopticlick.eff.org/
Remember, kids, disabling JavaScript is cheating, since many sites require JavaScript to work and fingerprinting code can be included in that mandatory JavaScript.
Some kind anon many threads before posted a link to a story that indicates Google is injecting fingerprint code into their CAPTCHAs.
https://archive.is/9K5gs
This means that the majority of 4chan users could be being fingerprinted, and Google might know about your shitposting habits.
To fix this you can get a pass (which allows you to be tracked by 4chan in a different way), or you can trust the 4chan X extension and use that to run 4chan with all JavaScript disabled.
Daily reminder to do all your Facebook / Youtube / LinkedIn / botnet shit in a completely separate browser to your Googling or buying shit.
It's currently the ONLY way to truly defend against fingerprint tracking.
Double points if you have each browser running in a different VM with a different OS.
Triple points if you have each browser's VM configured with a different VPN.
The Tor Browser Bundle is still susceptible to many fingerprinting attacks that can uncover your true OS and browser.
Spoofing your user-agent is counterproductive unless you use a different user-agent for every site, even if you rotate them every x HTTP requests.
I hear the Tor project is making their own fingerprinting suite for scratch.
I'm unique.
What do?

Anybody?
Are there any Chrome extensions that notify me when someone has replied?
I currently use appchan x, and I need to watch a thread, then regularly check it to see if someone has replied...
Would like something similar to Reddits system. I do not want to have to follow/favorite/subscribe to threads, it should be automatic for all my posts.
Is this a thing?
4chan has that built into the settings dumb shit
the site doesnt offer any functionality to do that. the only way would be through polling the api or scraping the site. at that point you're implicitly "subscribing" to the thread anyway
>>55259034
4chan x does that.

As an Nvidia fanboy this pisses me right the fuck off. I still have to get a 1080 and I haven't even seen it anyway for sale at MSRP.

AMD stepping up their game.

You know why there's always tons of stock of AMD cards? Because nobody fucking wants them. Nvidia cards are rarer than unicorn shit at launch because everybody wants one, because they actually push performance boundaries instead of being shitty rebrands.

why do you have to get a 1080
