I have a HDD that have windows 7 but i want to change the HDD, i have one that have windows 10, does it works?
>>55627448
Why?, i know i have to reinstall drivers but does it still works?
It does. If anything goes wrong, boot in safe mode and repair the shit.
Also GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS BOARD THIS IS NOT YOUR TECH SUPPORT YOU PIECE OF GARBAGE KILL YOURSELF.
Welcome.
Looking to replace my shitty jumbled together Sandy Bridge i3 box with something a little more capable, most likely to last me the next several years. I don't really game that much; mostly Adobe programs and general usage tasks but maybe a little bit every now and then. The GF is giving me her old 7870 Myst so I'll just use that; can't beat free. Also, I have a 1TB HDD I can recycle from the old system.
What do y'all think? Haven't built a PC with new parts since... well, it had a Q6600 in it.

might run out of juice if you overclock. Tahiti loves power.
>>55627389
Hmm, good point. I googled around to see how much power the card consumes and came to ~370 watts at full load with the card. Think 550 would be enough?
>>55627435
550w should be fine.
What went wrong?
http://www.zdnet.com/pictures/windows-longhorn-still-the-most-exciting-windows-ui-to-date/
>>55627229
Longhorn was in development for 3 years, it was supposed to be what Windows Vista was gonna be, but then they had a problem with it and scraped the whole project and just changed the UI of XP and used that as the whole OS release.
>>55627688
if only the ui changed, why was vista so much more demanding than xp was?

Bill Gates left with thousands of anti-trust bureaucrats restricting Microsoft at every turn.
Apple got into the government and won. They basically bribed the government to destroy Microsoft and told them they basically can't innovate: http://www.nytimes.com/1999/11/16/us/employees-from-microsoft-give-gore-an-icy-reception.html
This probably destroyed or delayed too long so many promising projects within Microsoft such as Longhorn, Courier, or Windows Mobile.
Gore got a nice cushy job as a board member of Apple and made millions for his service. Bill Gates threw up his hands and just left. It's quite sad we can't see the same shit done against Facebook, Google or Apple, which are monopolies today, because they own the government right now and there's nothing we can do.
They did this to AT&T too long time ago and broke up the company. But they got smart and now also control the government as puppets.
Any good books or resources to learn about programming, development, and Linux?

Hardware selection is pretty abysmal at this point. Intel and AMD are too focused on embedding intentionally insecure chips, so we won't get any more recent x86 hardware supported. There's hope for ARM though I guess, I want to get the C201 chromebook but it's hard to justify disabling the graphics and wireless for some dubious notion of freedom.

Unfortunately none of my motherboards are compatible
How much does intel pay to have their sticker on a laptop?
>>55626753
How much are you payed to shitpost?
>>55626753
I think it's part of their oem agreement.
If you want to sell hardware with Intel chips, they can impose that you affix their tradedress on your product.
More like how much does applel pay to not have it
Discuss.

Why are all the HTPC front ends so shitty? Windows media player is shit everyone knows that. Kodi is also shit, all the plugins don't work and the user interface for every single skin is absolute shit.
Plex is alright but I don't have a server capable of running it properly with redundant hard drives.
/g/ If you have any htpc front ends that are better, please inform me of their existence.
>>55626513
kodi plugins do work.
since a few updates ago in addtion to plugins you have to also enable their dependancies.
but i agree kodis ui is shit.
emby and plex are pretty much the only viable options as media servers.
emby only on very strong hardware though since their transcoder is shit even though it uses ffmpeg.
plex should run decently on any shit tier hard ware though.
there are alternatives to kodi in the frontend department but they arent nearly as convinient as kodi in terms of free livetv and streaming site support.
the best part about kodi is you can download high quality rips in the background while watching them also the support is there. kodi supports every media standard there is from video formats no ones ever heard of to compliance with dlna standards.
suck it up op. if you want a better ui for kodi make one. since the gotham release the ui is fully modular now and not just a skin anymore.

I have it, and if it weren't for the fact that I rarely need to use it anymore I would switch off of it. I can't watch videos with subtitles in fullscreen on my phone because the subtitles disappear. I'd use the app, but then I'd have to pay for it
>>55626513
Windows Media Player is not a HTPC frontend.
Hey /g/ents,
I have been messing around with opencv for a little while, and I'm trying to identify certain patterns from a line, I'm trying to predict upcoming maximas and minimas... the problem is, the data is very noisy, and I'm not sure what to use to smooth out those lines. Any thoughts?
>>55626384
Are you talking about finding straight lines in an image, or just a general data line?

Why do consoles even exist? They are literally mini computers with their own OS but you pay double the price just for the microcucks logo and to use your own internet which you already pay for.
Really want one simply for the 4k Blu ray and the HDR, but if they don't have a trade in deal for my original Xbox one probably not getting it.
