Ok I will admit it...I am old school. I have not bought headphones in a damn while. I was going to get the sennheiser hd 290 monitors but it appears my memory is faded from drinking too much and they only sell 280's...Either way, my old cans have kicked it and I am in the market for around $100 headphones. What is killin it these days? If you say beats by dre I will come to your house in a clown costume and rape you.

So I've had good experiences using a cheap £99 chromebook with crouton for Linux (Ubuntu 14)

Question: Is the Chromebook Pixel worth it or just a meme?

I got a dell chromebook 13 i3 4gb ram for $520~ after tax recently.

Slapped a 256gb ssd in there and installed seabios and i'm running ubuntu mate on it. pretty comfy.
>>
>>55641063
Truth is, the Chromebook Pixel is fucking gorgeous however it's basically a meme at this point. It's more useless than a Macbook however if you can get Linux on it, despite it having a minimal amount of storage, it can be pretty good.

Hi /g
As I'm a boosted monkey I need some assistance.
When Having both Discord and Overwatch open, Overwatch's audio like to cut in/out every 15 seconds.
This only happens when Discord is open at the same time as Overwatch.
Anyone know of any ways to fix this problem.

Anyone else trying Yandex?

I like it, but it won't let me use yandex.com instead of yandex.ru for the default search. Interesting, as only the latter can use the English language interface, and I am not Russian... I do by hand and it still won't work.

So I want to learn about networking. I can set up a Linux server, I can program web applications in Java and C#, but I couldn't tell you what a subnet is or what 192.168.1.0/24 means or the difference between IPv4 and 6, the different networking layers (link layer, etc.), what a switch is, you get the picture. I do not want to do networking for a career - I already have a good career, but every time a networking related issue or question comes up I feel like an idiot.

Is taking a free CCNA course a good idea, or will I only learn how Cisco networking works? I'm not going for the cert, just for the knowledge. Could someone recommend me good free text-based (no video) online courses, either CCNA or networking in general?

I took that course in uni. It was basically a giant cisco advertisement disguised as knowledge. You learn some pretty basic stuff and then learn how to apply it on Cisco routers and switches.
If you want to learn networking there must be better ways. If you want a cert to land a job then go with the CCNA
>>
a bunch of material for the cisco certs are general networking knowledge. Lammle's texts are a fine place to start, but i'd also get the program GNS3, some pirated router images and fuck around till it clicks.

Finally building a new PC after about 10 years -_-

I have pretty much everything picked except the mobo. Recommend me a Z170 mobo plz.

Hi /g/,

I am helping out a business by keeping track of all their tech issues. You could call me their new system administrator. How can I keep track of all of the computers and passwords and wifi networks and connections and everything?

I am currently keeping info in a doc with images of the network and all of the tools. But I would like to hear how you do it.

...no?

I'm not entirely a noob with sound but should I worry about having a turntable. I know that I need a phone compatible speakers set and a preamp. Do any of you know if I should buy the vinyl rig if my budget of preamp, speakers and a turntable will be under $500. Should I also convert my vinyl records to .flac (or better lossless formats) later on.
To summarize all I need us a good brand for a turntable (preferably built in preamp) and good quality speakers.
Also can anyone tell me if smartphones can play .flac files?
