My laptop has a 750ti with 4gb of VRAM. Can actually play some titles at 4k.

You don't have a surge protector?
>>55641823
I do, but it came in through the coax. Fried the modem, hopped to its ethernet port, fried the network card and motherboard of my router.
I had a coax surge protector a while ago, but I removed it because it stopped passing signal. Possibly due to a surge, in retrospect...

What framework does /g/ use to create GUIs?
Currently messing around with JavaFX 8 cause lamda expressions are comfy and it looks pretty, but alot of ppl are telling me that C# with QT or XAML is the industry standard. What do you guys think?

The hardware just isn't worth the price. I mean look at the new Macbook. It's basically a netbook but costs as much as a top of the line ultrabook. Seriously wtf. For the same price you can get a zenbook with an i7! For almost half the price you can get a zenbook with identical size and performance.

> The Witcher 3, we released the game without any protection. On day one, you could download the game from GOG and give it to a friend on a memory stick – it works. And still we sold near to 10 million units across all platforms. The piracy factor was irrelevant, because we cannot force people to buy things, we can only convince them to do it. We totally believe in the carrot, not in the stick.

Any advise on passing MSCA exams?
I've read the exam ref, watched the cbtnugget videos, and passed the transcender practice exams. But still only got about ~60% on the real exam.
Discussion - How do you study /g/?
>failing tests
>especially after going out of your way to learn the material
imo this is just above you, give up because even if you eventually pass this test there will be a harder one down the line - this will go on until you can no longer pass whatever test is laid out for you and you'll end up floating around that skill-level forever.
If you are getting stuck at the very beginning I am sure you won't get very far in a career.

I'm not stuck, this is literally my first attempt at ever taking a Microsoft exam. Just wondering what you guys do to study for exams, and any advise would be great.
So /g/, as you know physical security is very tantamount to digital security. So what brands of lockpicks do /g/entlemen prefer?
Car windscreen wipers, a file, and some pliers.
Make your own.
You know discussing this shit is against the law right?
Also enjoy being put on a list.
>>55640612
It's not against the law. It's the same thing as penetration testing.
Lockpicking locks that you don't own, and don't have permission to pick, is illegal.
Everything else is fair game.
I need a new, stronger Wifi AP. My trusty WRT54G just can’t pierce the 2.4ghz interference from the neighbors in my new apartment and it’s time to retire it.
Looks like the Ubiquiti AP AC LR is my best option so far.
I really prefer option of external antennas and high/adjustable wattage, which I would lose with this. I know some companies make 802.11ac “bullet” type APs, but by nature, they are SISO only. It also looks like Ubiquiti lacks whitelist based mac filtering too.
What do you suggest? Building an AP out of PC (as with a router) is not power and cos effective imho.
Also WiFi general…

work the 5ghz band?
Also Ubiquiti is great. LR is great but signals need to be balanced for it to work properly.
i don't think broadcasting the wifi will miraculously fix it.
As a telecommunications guy, I'd recommend cabling if you can.
>>55640481
>Netgear Nighthawk R7000
I don't need a router, I already have a cisco rackmount stuff for routers/switches. I need an AP only.
>Or stop being a little bitch and run cat7 like a real man.
I can put gigabit anywhere, but I want roaming capability with laptops and phones.
>>55640533
I have cabling where I can, but I need WiFi too. Idk about 5ghz, but 2.4 is absolutly trashed.
I need a new AP for 1. 5ghz and 2. more power.
>Install windows

>ask around on windows forums and get told the card is probably not working
>it actually sends a signal
>after hours of trying random solutions, some shady Russian program called Driver Pack Solution finally detects and installs drivers

lol no.
Better to convert to 48fps or you'll end up having to do some pulldown fuckery.
There is a very noticeable difference. Whether it's preferred is entirely subjective. I think most people adapt to it if they watch it all day. The only caveat is that some types of videos do poorly with motion interpolation, like animation.
