What happened to tactile feedback mice? I used to have these and thought they were awesome. It seemed like great technology and added a layer of interaction to a boring screen.
what
I tried a cool mouse at a science exhibition
It was attached to a board and you could feel resistance directly, the demo had a rubber band and a ball you could bounce with the mouse.
On another note, Steelseries Rival has a version with a vibration motor.

it's pretty cool that the buttons and tabs you are running over have physical response

Microsoft intended to implement a monthly subscription fee for enterprise editions of Windows.
While the consumer editions will continue to be sold at a set price, it does indicate that MS will likely shift to a subscription model in the future.
I envision a near future where the Windows "base version" remains free, with added functionality requiring a monthly fee.
Maybe 2018 will be the year of the Linux desktop..
>>55647628
>Maybe 2018 will be the year of the Linux desktop..
it seems that a lot of companies realise linux is better for them, so they start switching. Some governments switch to linux since it permits to save a lot of money while having something more secure
In my country some cities have decided to put debian in schools instead of windows.
It will be the year of the linux desktop but not the one people think.
It won't outnumber windows, but it will be at the level of OS X I think.
>>55647628
>Maybe 2018 will be the year of the Linux desktop..
The year of Linux on the desktop is 5 years away and always will be.

And I don't even use windows.
Where do you sell your shit, /g/?
I've been trying to sell my shitty monitor on ebay, but no one is biting.
What do people use nowadays?
>>55647540
I dont. I always keep shit in case i need to use it for something later.
There are so amny monitors on ebay that unless its a specific model that is desirable its not gonna sell.
>>55647540
don't expect people to buy your old shit. pray that they mistakenly will somehow tho.
>>55647573
What should I use then?
Letgo, craigslist? I really want to get rid of this monitor. I bought it, but I hadn't used it for a while. So when I started using it, I noticed a horrible ghosting effect, but it was too late to return it.
I'll start

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Why does almost everyone hate BSD?
It's mostly about FreeBSD and the FreeBSD devs make sure all BSD discussion ends up being about FreeBSD and how their security is impenetrable because of all their mitigations. In fact they're just running software that is twenty years out of date and the reason no BSD systems are broken into is simply that nobody gives a shit.

I need a new Laptop for business. Will mainly be used for Adobe Photoshop and MS Office.
What would you recommend to buy and why? Durability, lots of ports and the Display are the most important thing.

T460s with 2560x1440 display.
The 1080p display is a piece of shit, poor color gamut and contrast.
>>55649648
In case you need ports get the Pro Dock. If you want lots of built-in ports keep looking because the current trend is to remove ports because "normals don't need/use them".
