What was the most tin foil hat moment /g/ had?

They're still having it, it's called Windows 10.
Deleting telemetry window updates and encrypting my sd cards with my waifu pictures, all safe mind you

Ever regret selling you first PC /g/?
Looking back I really shouldn't have sold any of my old PCs... I should have kept them...
I had a amazing Samsung SyncMaster 997 19" monitor and I fucking gave it away because it was too big... little did I know...
Now I'm looking at shitty sites trying to reconstruct my first PC but I will never be...
>>55985242
I got to see a stupid mother throwing away a fully working CRT monitor and saying "It's old, we don't need it." but she keept the broken PC instead and didn't touch it for about 7 years later when I got it from her... I feel seasick everytime I think of it.
I'm trying to sell my pc for 10$. Pentium 4 single core 3ghz and GF6200, 1 gig of ram. No one wants this old shit. I had a few crt monitors but I didn't pay attention to picture quality so it was thrown away probably.
>>55985242
My "first PC" was a Packard Bell 486. I could play Doom on it. That thing deserved the trash, though, lowest quality OEM junk you could find back then.
I'm about to do a clean installation of windows 7. I'm wanting to put all "essential" software on a few archival DVDS I got leftover from work so I have an ark of decent software.
Fight it out to the death for the best software to put on it:
Aside from browser, virus protection, media player, etc.
I also need something that'll allow me to edit and save .raw images as a .jpeg or whatever.
>>55985108
>an ark of decent software
Anything you put on there will be outdated in a few months. Its better to grab it as you need it.
>virus protection
You do realize where you are, right?

Going to get a 128gb flash drive, deciding between Kingston Digital 128GB Data Traveler SE9 G2 and Samsung 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Duo. Mostly care about speed, but I can't find reliable specs for either.
Other recommendations are welcome.

Just google some reviews - dont bother starting threads if you have nothing to add

Can you read you fucking mong? It says flash drives thread. They're starting the thread with a question on the topic of flash drives.

I'd go for the Samsung one, by the way.
What would i do to be able to open a program in XFCE4 and have the tab that opened stay on the icon i clicked, like in windows?

Yes.

anyone?
Sup /g/. I just got turned down for a junior sysadmin job I've been interviewing for. The interviewer said that while my linux and networking skills were impressive, I need to work on my "soft skills". What did he mean by this? Is he talking about software development, and if so, what's the best book/website/resource to learn this?
Pic not related, just a random one from my saved pics.
medium quality bait
he meant you need to moisturize
>>55983753
If only you could ask the person itself who told you it instead of random people on the internet who have nothing to do with the conversation you had.
What's the worst he can do to you, fire you? You don't even work for him. Ask him what he meant by it and if he doesn't reply call him an asshole. He can't do shit anyways.

You weren't cis male enough and didn't tell about your tumblr account with over 1,000 followers.
I just installed opensuse and am enjoying the eye candy after fixing all the issues(annoying flickering and random crash & freeze).
But I've noticed that I'm getting a hour less battery life than i've had before.
I already have tlp installed.

Hey /g/
Help me figure out what this is... it has no brand name on it.
It feels clicky... but when I look under the keycaps it doesn't look mechanical...
Any help would be great! Thanks!

Are there any ways to improve snapping on Windows 10? Even Mac has utilities like BetterSnapTool which offer a lot of customizability

Does rooting an android device and flashing a ROM like Cyanogen mod make it more susceptible to hacking or does it make it more secure?
I've rooted before so I know how to do it. Is it a bad idea to root for security reasons? I'm a paranoid NSA go away tin foil hat.
>>55980703
Well..that's an hard question to answer.
While CM is open source where possible (there are some proprietary drivers so you can maintain usability), unlocking your bootloader possibly opens the door to hacking. If somebody wanted to, he could probablyinstall an unsigned firmware (read: not official, possibly with malicious intent) and hack your shit up. That probably requires direct usb connection, though.
But the stock firmware may have is not quite safe, either. It contains a lot more proprietary bits, and I'm not talking just about the Google apps, which could be removed if you have root access. Depending on your phone, it can also stop being supported quite quickly, and you won't receive any security updates, leaving security holes.
I recommend running constantly updated stock with a locked bootloader - it's the best for your security.
I have an old galaxy s5, the verizon locked one or whatever. no service. considered rooting it awhile back but at the time they said the root was impossible. is there a tardproof way to do it or is rooting still nogo
>>55980861
this is the easiest question to answer. You are the most safe when you are in
complete control of your device.
Or you know what, don't root and keep second guessing.
I'm so confused with all the coolers available. The benchmarks of the coolers online are so inconsistent. I'm building a new PC (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/greendoc/saved/YhBfrH), and the only part I'm not 100% sure I want to get is the cooler. I could put a 120mm AIO cooler, but I dont like the idea of any kind of liquid being in my PC. I would really like a good matte black air cooler that cools good enough for some 10-15% overclock with good temps. Any opinions on this topic are greatly appreciated.

Bequiet dark rock.
/thread
P.S. I would build a custom water loop for $250 if I were you
>>55980259
Noctua coolers are the best quality ; hyper 212 evo was a popular cooler ; Corsair makes ok water cooling loops ; and be quiet coolers are quiet
Do some research if you're that autistic
>>55980472
Second this. Water cooling is a meme.
Does anyone know of a good file explorer addon/plugn/standalone program that can sort and display films in a nice way?
I want to organise my files and show them in a similar way to Kodi where it shows the film's dvd cover in a thumbnail grid. Having the ability to automatically sort or categorise by tags for genres would be great too, I don't want to use folders for genres because then I can't put things in two genres.
>inb4 windows 10
save that for another thread please
Make folders by category, put the movies in those folders.
>>55980255
I just said, I don't want to do that because then I can't categorize an item twice - where would I put Alien, in Sci-fi or Horror? and anyway i like seeing them all in one folder
There must be a good way to do this, some sort of tagging plugin for explorer, or something that can generate custom thumbnails for each file.
>>55980309
for reference this is what i'm trying to get it to look like
