Fucking hell, the things you can do with these little shits
It is...hence why my next build will have a shitload of them.

/g/ always says that Macs can't do any real work and are too locked down. I believed it but then I saw this picture. Wtf? Almost all of them are using MacBooks. Those people are the people that landed the rover on mars.

That photo is from the landing room
>How’d it get there? First there was a bunch of rocket science stuff that we don’t really understand, but the landing sequence was guided and watched by a bunch of NASA brainiacs on their MacBooks Pros. Who says hipsters are the only ones that use a Mac?
Does anyone use any distro besides the big names like Debian, red hat, Arch and their derivatives?
What are your thoughts on it?
I've been using solus for a few days and it's really nice so far. Software repository could be bigger, but it has everything I need.
Plus this is the first distro one used in which midori isn't a crashing mess.
It's also pretty nice and lightweight, uses 400MB ram on boot.
Built from the ground up with its own package manager and DE which I really like too. I'm going to stick with this distro for a while I think.
Sorry if I come off as a shill, but this is my new favorite distro and DE.
Pic related is a random image of the budgie desktop from google. Not going to post my own desktop for obvious reasons.
Slitaz I use.

Thoughts?
That's really lightweight, isn't it?
>>56055639
400MB on boot? More bloat plz. My Arch system uses 130mb on boot. Get on my fucking level.

I just bought a 1070, plan on upgrading to a 1080ti/big vega if it isn't shit. The problem is that I don't know what kind of monitor to get now, all I have is a basic 1440p monitor and a 1080p dell ultrasharp. I don't know what combination of 144hz, g-synch, 4k/1440p ultrawide, IPS etc. would be good for this next monitor. Budget is $1200 because that's what a 34" ultrawide with g-sync would cost. Less would be nice though
Nobody responded to me in the password managers thread:
So, I'm using 1Password at the moment, just on my phone. (I didn't want to pay for the membership.)
Is 1Password considered good or bad? Should I change all of my passwords and my password manager?

I hate git for being shitty enough for this to happen, but by god, I hate management just as much.

At a glance, the M65, the g400s/g502/fk1 isn't much more expensive and far superior if you're gaming. Also getting a cat, at all. Dogs are the only acceptable pet - cats are for shit cunts.

The time has come to kiss godbye to windows and fully embrace linacks.
My question for you is: as a total linux noob, am I better off installing fedora or mint?
I was about to install mint but then i took a look at fedora and seems nice too.
I want to use it primarly for coding (not heavy stuff, mostly science / engineering related, such as small FEM or other PDE solving methods).
Wouldn't mind to eventually go deeper in my knowledge of linux.
What I don't want is a gentoo / arch that will take me 50 hours to properly configure.
love both gnome 3 on fedora is comfy af tho

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.
