I'm about to do a clean installation of windows 7. I'm wanting to put all "essential" software on a few archival DVDS I got leftover from work so I have an ark of decent software.

Fight it out to the death for the best software to put on it:
Aside from browser, virus protection, media player, etc.

I also need something that'll allow me to edit and save .raw images as a .jpeg or whatever.

Anything you put on there will be outdated in a few months. Its better to grab it as you need it.
