Aren't you supposed to be able to activate windows 10 with windows 7/8 product keys?
I got windows 10 awhile ago when it was free, and now it's telling me to activate windows but it says I can't use my win 7 product key.
the fuck?
>windows 10 fucking your boipussy
Business as usual.
Looks like "something happened" on "This PC".
Same shit just happened to me and I threw out my old w7 shit because they said the old key was now useless.
>>56402705
No, lol... the key only works to install the older version, if you upgraded it gives you a different key that's tied to your hardware, if you reinstalled then you shouldn't need a key
I did it. I replaced all of my HDDs into SSDs.
OS is on a 250GB Samsung pro. The rest is on two 1TB Samsung 850 EVOs
the initial windows launch probably felt amazing on the ssd, didn't it?

Gaming laptops are reserved for autistic college students.
What does /g/ think of this set up?
Planing my next build, needing ideas essentially.
>>56402220
generic, boring, and loud as fuck.
>the things people do for 100mhz
Here's a cool idea. Throw more fucking fans on it until it breaks the goddamn sound barrier when it flies out of the room.
So /g/ what do you use to carry your tech, what do you pack in it, and why?
I'll start
>Pelican 1495
>Thinkpad P50 with mouse and charging cable.
>frequently have field drills and school assignments and needed a case to bring my thinkpad out with me. Also travel out of country every year or two.
>15.4lbs
>>56402186
A fucking bag you autistic cunt.
Protip: Unless you're going skydiving with your laptop or in a 3rd world shithole, getting from point A to point B ANYWHERE doesn't require a fucking heavy ass hardened case you fucking tool.
I can imagine it now. Your smug expression as you struggle to haul your dumbass heavy laptop suitcase through a resteraunt door, attemping to find a big enough table to unpack your entire setup while finding a suitable spot to set your unwieldy awkward box.
>heh look at all these unsecure normies with their bookbags
>its like they want their shit to break
>don't they know bookbags can hardly withstand 50kg of direct pressure and only offer marginal water resistance? What if they need to deploy in stormy weather? Stupid normies...
I bet you pack all that shit back in the box and take it with you to the toilet too.
>Pelican bag
hahahaha holy shit is /g/ actually autistic?
>>56402186
you must really care about your thinkpad to suffer like that.
Which CPU would be better for gaming?
Intel i5 2500k or Xeon E3-1270?
I've got both of these spare and am going to pair it with a GTX1070. So which one would be best?
>>56402084
i7 6700 would be your best bet.
THROW THEM BOTH IN THE TRASH
>>56402084
get the Xeon
Is there any way to limit the input current when charging my phone?
My Nexus 5 just pulls as much current as possible from chargers, up to 2.2A, but I want to limit this to ~700 or 800mA sometimes.
>>56402027
kek pic but i dunno lol i down even own a smartphone ;)
>>56402027
Yes. Get a different charger. Look for one with 5V and 1A. You can see the maximum current by looking at the bottom of a charger, so check your home if you have an older one since they're usually 5V/1A. If not just buy one, they're not expensive.
why do you want to do that, OP?
so, /g/s, what's the verdict?
21:9 curved 34" or two nice, energy efficient 24"?
the two 24" are not substantially cheaper, but will use substantially less energy. generally, i would also prefer EIZO over Dell, but that's more of a sidenote. in terms of screen real estate, they're 7.5% apart in favor of the curved.
>21:9
>34"
Too big and too fucking wide.
>two 24"
Dual screen is shit and useless. Learn to manage your windows. 1 24" screen is fucking fine.
I dunno.
Only used a 11" laptop screen since 2010.
And it works just fine when I use dwm.
Dual 24s

So here's the situation. That's me standing on the beam and I weigh 100kg. A crane hook is attached to the end of the beam imparting an upward force on the beam of 936.92865 Newtons (N) (a Newton is a unit of force attained by multiplying a mass such as 1 kilogram by an acceleration such as the gravitational constant 9.81 meters per second per second here on Earth, i.e. 1kg X 9.81 m/s^2 = 9.81N). What is the reaction force at the wall?

Pic related for my choice, a primitive electricity generator.
>>56401873
and what would you use electricity for?, you need to develop fabrication to make anything decent
>>56401939
It would be a first step.
I would then create comfort for royalty and then weapons.

>invent shit for nobles
>burned at the stake for witchcraft
>had a dream where I watched an ad for Coca Cola with Stallman drinking the soda
>wake up and laugh it off, he would never advertise such a company!
>actually google "Stallman drinking Coke"
>FIND THIS
WTF? I pretty much lost all my respect for Stallman now. Monopolies and oligopolies are the cancer killing the economy. It is exactly the same as if he was using a Microsoft product! What a fat idiot!
how do I downvote this

He is pretty much giving the finger to everything he says he believes in by drinking that soda. You don't understand, you think everything is just memes.

Xiaomi are one of the largest smartphone and tech manufacturers in China, brah
can you fucking do the math?
that 650$ plus custom fees with no warranty. for a not that good pure chinky m3.
the i5 price tag is a disgrace 990 bucks plus customs.
can't be a decent meme
Hi /g/
If i were to buy this budget tier laptop - Lenonvo Ideapad 100s and purchase a 1080p panel replacement for an ideapad 300s or similar and replace the shitty screen on the 100s?
The 300s is 14 inches so...what? If you want a bigger screen with highet resolution you should buy a laptop with those features.
>>56401841
i'm saying, can i buy a cheap replacement panel for the 300s at the same size (14 inch)
>>56401753
If you mess something up, or your tinkering is noticeable, you'll lose warranty. Budget laptops are much more likely to break and be hard to fix, so if anything goes wrong you'll just lose more money on it. I recommend just saving up for a laptop with the features you want out of the box (other than extra RAM or a new HDD).
