Let's settle this once and for all /g/

What's the best programming language to start with? For someone who will probably aim to become a web app and mobile app developer.

There are 5 answers usually given... many more but these 5 seem to prevail

1) JS:

>JavaScript, especially if you wanna do web dev. You'll need it anyway and JS is ubiqituous nowadays... you can get up and running in a sec cause you already have a JS engine in your browser.

2) RUBY

>JS is a terrible idea. JS is a weird language and you should start with something more elegant without all the weirdness. Something like Ruby.

3) PYTHON

>Python is the way to go! Python has always ONE way to do it it will teach you order in your code and good practices ... it's also very general and used everywhere while Ruby's community tends to focus on Rails/web

4) C

>Forget all what the faggots above said. Learn C if you want to understand how computers work.

5) Java (or C#)

>Wanna make $$$ ASAP? Learn Java fgt.

Is the library ever going to be updated to include newer materials released in the past 5 years?

Include shit that you want in the updated library and I'll just make the torrent myself.

There hasn't been any worthwhile advances in programming languages or algorithm design in the past 5 years, or even the past 40 years.

Look /g/, I'm not even trolling, just try this shit! If you use an Outlook account, stop using it immediately, Microsoft is full of bullshit and I'm sick of it. Finally moving to a Gmail account.

That what you get for soldering the battery to the phone, you have to replace the phone + the battery if something fuck up, hope samsung and others brand will remember that.
>>
>>56561905
>have normal phone
>battery starts to overheat
>pop cover off, remove battery and retreat to a safe distance
>have shitty phone with battery glued in
>battery starts to overheat
>entire phone is most likely junk now

this is why I will never buy a phone without a removable battery
>>
>>56561951
>to keep removing battery for the phone not to overheat is a feature
no, get a better phone.

the higher technical proficiency of it's userbase. People with no time and/or patience skip it. But those with time and/or no money give it a shot and those that survive end up using it. Hence less gets done to make it user friendly than an operating system that people laid down money for and expect it to work when it comes installed on their machine.

Am I right?

linux is made by its users, there's naturally few linux devs who make things with a focus on new/laymen users

windows/osx are made by people who are paid to make it suitable for new/laymen users

linux wouldn't exist at all if not for its technically-minded users, calling this a negative doesn't really make sense
>>
>>56561846
Developers use Linux for its developer friendliness: a UNIX embodiment and native package manager, something Windows and MacOS don't offer.

Now making the OS user friendly and asking money for it like Apple does or shoving ads down users throats like Microsoft does, isn't as lucrative on Linux beside anti-features can just be removed from free software.

This is the difference between people who make operating systems because they like to make operating systems, and people who make operating systems because they like to make money.

The proprietary OS provider would see its user base as an asset to monetize, and I want no part in that.

The open source developer will always opt for functionality and performance over usability.

The support page says my motherboard has a toslink out port, but it clearly does not.

wtf???

Also how do I get access to digital audio with this then?? Cheapest dacs that take USB are $100....I might as well buy a new mobo that supports toslink

I'm due to meet someone who is currently on the run from feds for political reasons.
I need to complete and utterly privatise my phone in the space of a few hours. This means I need to take measures to avoid tapping; GPS highlighting; any unauthorised location information or otherwise being sent via cellular or WiFi network; keylogging and so on. I would like advice on how to go about doing this. I'm unfortunately unrooted but have a laptop and will do anything short of simply not taking the phone with me.
The only information I'm willing to give on the matter is that I'm with a UK carrier and am in the UK.
I'll be extremely grateful for any technical and legal help, and I'm sure others who lurk may benefit and learn a few things.
